Why he didn't go to the police is unclear, why pochita appeared there at the right time is unclear (these are pretty common plot contrivances). He sold his organs/body parts to cover his debt on slow months. They sold their lives to the demon for power. You can poke holes into pretty much every story and some things just have to be taken for face value.

On the episode itself: I felt like they did a very good job in showing just how out of touch Denji is with the normal world. His life is just misery. And his dream is literally eating a slice of toast with jam and a girlfriend.
The CG was... fine. I've long made my piece with CG if it is utilized properly. I did love Land of the Lustrous and it's use for dynamic cameras to enhance the fights. Knights of Sidonias fights were amazing because of the camera as well. But that show also used CG for pretty much all of the characters and that was doable but still jarring. I would've been fine with using CG to enhance the fights were more movement was required but they even used it for scenes were the camera was still and without the extra motion the models just didn't hold up.

The opening did take me a few listens to get into the groove but yeah it's fine. The visuals and references were amazing. I'm looking forward to what's next and am happy to get my fill for another 11 weeks.

That's probably because there are people like you who do not notice world building and narrative that are not done through dialogue considering that you seem to not have noticed any of them. There's a need to convey the core part through dialogues or people like you won't get it.

As for pochita appearing there is a foreshadowing for future events and that’s how story works coincidence happens low life bitch .
