Sheeeesh what was that!? I'm not a manga reader and i don't know what'll happen but this show'll be amazing ngl. Animations are clear, art is pure madness, colors are well used.

I knew it was gonna be heavy in "shonen" but did not expect to have to set aside my common sense. Anyways, this is less a sports anime and more a death game anime, kinda like Tomodachi Game. Would be decent if they have more of these intense moments.

Having gone in kind of blind there's a lot of questions I have. These things include:

Didn't the Japanese Women's team win the world cup through their Japanese teamwork?
Is it really a good idea to put all your resources into 1 guy who hasn't even played professionally yet?
What if he has a career ending injury? Or decides to have a career change?
Are you really going to bar promising forwards from international play cuz they failed your stupid game of tag?
What if they have successful club careers later in life and chose to play for a different country because of that?

But these questions kind of hurt my brain. Instead I'll just say that Episode 1 was entertaining enough.

I just wish the show would make the suspension of disbelief a little easier.

It hurts my mind to see this concept. It's like saying that engineering is about putting bricks to make things. Yeah it's true but it's VERY misleading to say it's all about that.

Let's imagine there's a world class player in Japan football team. The enemies mark man to man this boy, so the world class player does nothing and the team loses because no other player is good enough. The end, Ego Jinpachi is fired because they failed to qualify for the world cup having lost the continental play off against Honduras (all my respect to Honduras' team). It's not like players like Bale struggled to qualifiy, Haaland didn't make the cut and Heung Min Son never makes it out pf the group stage. In a team sport, the focus is on the team, it's obvious

Let's dispose everything this anime has to say about football, then it's good
At least i was warned this wasn't about football, i would have dropped it instantly

Alright, heavily a hype up episode. Animation seems very well done smooth in my regard, and the story kind of weird at time but its sure had their point, to become the greatest striker on the damn world. I may wanna compare this to Ao Ashi already, but this two definitely had their own self greatness, with their two different MC, and i can't help but thinking both are still nice nonetheless of what matter that make them different. With that being said, welcome to my watching list, Blue Lock!

Wow I'm surprised at how well the first two chapters were adapted in this episode, applause to the staff. They've nailed the character designs too. A bit jealous Ao Ashi doesn't have nearly as good of an animation, but I guess it kinda makes sense considering Blue Lock places more importance on hyped matches and crazy playstyles in order to keep its audience engaged. The premise of this show is pretty stupid, but since I already know what to expect from reading the manga, I'll just turn off my brain, throw out all reason/logic, and enjoy the thrill. Solid start, looking forward to the next episode.

24 episodes of this?!?!?! And the first episode is already an awesome knockdown. To be honest, I know nothing about Blue Lock except that it has previously been compared to Ao Ashi. And I really like Ao ashi's realistic approach to the story, which includes some likeable characters with whom you can identify. Blue Lock, on the other hand, is brimming with exciting potential. I know it's too soon to judge, but it has an undeniable allure due to its unusual setting, potentially insane and strong (and possibly selfish) characters, and some solid animation (which I hope will be consistent until the end). That last part is fantastic. The MC's twist was surprisingly good. But, in any case, I'm curious where the story might go from here, given that it defies the standard norm of strength in numbers.

Blue Lock can mostly be compared to Ao Ashi in the sense that they are polar opposites.

Purists and people dedicated only to the sport itself love the high attention to detail and technicality of something like Ao Ashi but the manga also became sometimes bogged down in some areas because of the detail, a similar quality that reminded me of the tennis series Baby Steps. Blue Lock on the other hand eschews the specifics for more thrills and hype and making plays look cool rather than being technically correct, which goes well with the theme of prioritizing ego and personal ability above teamwork. There are many excellent characters in the series and I think it's one of Blue Lock's strong points, so hopefully you'll enjoy it as time goes on, it's one of the chapters I look forward to the most every week. :)

I couldn't agree with you more! They appear to be completely opposite but at the same time unique in their own ways. Actually, it's all thanks to Ao Ashi that I became interested in learning more about soccer after reading the manga. It's just so rich in soccer details and strategies that piques your interest as well. And now, after watching the first episode of BL, I'm kind of intrigued to read its manga because it's like a dopamine rush with all of its crazy elements. And I'm sure there are a lot of strange and interesting characters out there just waiting to be discovered. However, so far, the 1st episode has been quite good, so I might put off the reading until the end of the season.

I don't really watch or enjoy shounen too much, even less so with sports anime. But this EP1 left me absolutely speechless. I do expect it to get worse, but this is how 1st episodes should be done- catching attention of even those far away from the target audience. Amazing.

The first episode was great. In the beginning there was a little bit of lack in the quality of animation, but the animation in the end makes more than up for it. As a footballer myself i think this anime has a great concept.

If this season has an ending i would like the mc to lose and become second. Hear me out, he becomes second and then it's revealed he has 2 nationalites. After the season ends like this, there's a second season where he plays with another country in the World Cup. In the final episode they win the finale against Japan by him shooting instead of passing.

I cant stress enough how flawed and disrespectful this is for football, at least the first episodes will be nice after a while it will get insuferable. Sucks that so many people will have a twisted way to see the beautiful game because of this, wish football got the Haikyuu or Slam Dunk treatment in that aspect.

I would love to know what does the Japanese national team players think about Blue Lock

Doesn't change the fact the concept is stupid. It's less of a sports and more of a battle royal. You don't hit players physically with kicks and punches in a match of tag.

Okay bro. If you're going to fixate on one thing and have it ruin your enjoyment, that's your own choice. Besides, recreational games like these are training drills for real-life football players so don't make it seem like it's completely out of left field. As for the violence, I didn't think I would have to point out the fact that they were playing a game with only one rule in mind, don't be the last person to touch the ball before the timer runs out.

The first episode was fun. In fact it was so fun I'm considering skipping the anime altogether and just reading the manga. The dumbness of the concept kinda turns the anime into a battle shounen but I'm ok with that.

It's like I'm speaking to a wall. Have you ever watched a game of football in your life? You make it seem like it's this pristine sport. I don't know what else to say. Have it your way. I'm done trying to convince someone that has already come into the show with their preset biases. At least you enjoyed Ao ashi.

Lol. Not only I have watched plenty football matches, but also was the center back of champion team in my school days. That's exactly the reason I can see Blue Lock's concept being totally childish, unrealistic and contradictory to the essence of sports. Creating an egoist with violence and making stupid statements like making a midfielder/goalkeeper/defender is easy. They just literally decided someone's future with this so called recreational death match. Even real life Japan Football team is losing matches in big stages because of poor defense despite having a dynamic attack. You can't/don't need to convince something that's opposite to a fact.

Literally, in the anime they say the concept is weird, they don't hide it, not even edginess of it, say something new.
Instead of complaining about it being unrealistic (tho way more realistic than Kuroko no Basket, for example), why not seeing how the author wants to land his idea of "Ego" the opposite of teamwork in football? Being selfish isn't new in irl football. Why people act like there was some supernatural power in Blue Lock.

That wasn't a training, it was literally a "single-elimination" tag match.

And you played football? Lol, If our coach doesn't tell us to not have physical contact before a tag match, we would gladly tackle and charge each other to win.

Way more realistic then Kuroko no Basketball? So far in terms of moves yes. Time will tell how much it can stick to that. But atleast KnB didn't contradict the essence of team sports.
