| Honestly this ep was just what I expected. Friend group is brought into a live and death game and they are slowly starting to suspect one another. Don't know why but the mascots voice already started to annoy me :D. I havent read the manga (yet), so I think that I shouldnt judge this just yet. |

| kaiji/danganronpa/deatte 5-byou de battle vibes. Not only do I love shows with that kind of setting, but also the fact that is psychological (my favorite theme) is even better. Hopefully they won't ruin it if the manga is good. Also I don't know how all of this titles that I mentioned including this one manage to always have good OP and ED songs lol |

| So off the bat: - This is obviously going to draw a lot of comparisons to Squid Game, people in debt, psychological, emotional and physical manipulation to remove debt and win money through simple household games, overseen by a creepy mascot character and a mysterious organisation watching in secret survailance. If it turns out one of the players is behind all of this for some anime-ass plot reasons then Netflix might be able to sue. (I joke). - This is also giving me real Danganronpa vibes. Friends forced into emotionally and psychologically manipulating each other in order to survive, overseen by a creepy mascot character and a mysterious organisation watching in secret survailance (one of the girls watching is a moe character with pigtails). If it turns out that this organisation is behind all of this in order to break apart friendships and therefore spread despair then Spike Chunshoft might be able to sue. (Again, I joke). Apart from that, the drama seems very forced. I think the idea they are trying to get across with this is that "omg who among these friends is the least trustworthy?" but they haven't endeared us to any of the characters for that notion to have any impact. We don't know which one could be the one pulling the strings, because we don't know ANYTHING about any of them apart from one frame plasting all their character tropes across the screen. Not really characters, just cliches at this point. Character sheet does not good development make. The only reason I'd keep watching this is just to see how much the games escalate in intensity. And to find out who the secret mastermind is, and for what stupid reason they'd do it. |

| Nice first episode, but I felt I am missing the chilling feeling I was looking for when I watch battle royale or psychological animé. I hope I can get that feeling for the upcoming episodes, as the more they doubt each other, the more interesting it can get, and I hope they will deliver on that feeling, but so far it doesnät cut it for me. |

| This is reminding me of Liar Game. lol Before I say anything else, I should say: I liked this episode, but I don't have anything to say about the things I liked since they didn't stand out that much. They were just enjoyable things. The animation is a bit stiff. I think the pacing could have been improved. If you have rules in your story, I feel like it's a good idea to let the audience process the rules first so that they can be more invested in the story. Liar Game always gave us a trial match to let us understand the rules better. We have a sick mother in the hospital saying things gently. I feel like I have seen this a lot. haha (Somehow, this also reminds me of Liar Game. It had a sick father in the hospital, though. lol) Does Yuuichi have a harem? The characters' relationship wasn't that well built up, so I didn't really care about their friendship crumbling. What was that stupid question at the end? Did he just say that to make sure he had the most debt? If he did, he could have just said anything at all, and it would still have the same result. I hope it was actually something intelligent, and not just a writer wanting to speak about a girl's underwear. |
| I don't know... Seeing those two teen girls behind the scenes was a big letdown for me already. Couldn't care less about the CGI. The story lacks dread and suspense in my opinion, considering what's at stake and who seems to be in charge. I mean, in the infamous Squid Game, the losers die; powerful, rich people are in charge and they have soldiers with guns! In Kaiju you die or become a slave to pay your debts. Again, powerful authority. In this show you risk increasing debt and... that's it??? Who and how will force you to pay the debt after the game is over? What if you can't pay? To begin with, 4 million yen isn't really terrifying (considering the average salary in Japan). Surely the amount is no joke, but no one in their right mind would expect a teen to repay this immediately, right? How will the managers of the game make sure the loser pays up??? This is the part that was very poorly explained, at least so far. That makes the show underwhelming IMO. It's also weird how players pretty much just accepted to play even though they could leave??? I mean, why even trust this game to begin with??? Maybe it's a trick and no one owes 20mil to anyone? What if it's a big fraud and the mastermind is toying with you? Have none of them though that the game may be rigged and it's perfectly reasonable to just leave and talk about the supposed debt amongst themselves????? Another wtf point... |
| This was pretty bad lol, definitely a let down with zero tension and they showed the masterminds in the first ep, direction was way off. 4000000 yen is like 3000gbp, i hope they dont try to make that tiny debt a reason for killing people because that would be so dumb lol, two months work in minimum wage. very drama |

| Going in with low expectations and they didn't exceed my expectations. The first 5 minutes of the show was done so horribly. The scene up to the kidnapping was rushed so much that there was no suspense. Not to mention the character introduction was so lazily done; here, I'll just put tons of words up for you to read in 2 seconds to introduce all the main characters. The animation was mediocre at best, but I kind of knew that coming in. The story was alright. At least they had the common sense to end the episode on a cliffhanger. |

| Throughout this episode, all I had was a sense of deja vu cause I know I have seen this game in this exact circumstance before but I can't place exactly where I saw it. I don't think I read the manga, I don't think I watched the drama either but somehow I know I've seen this before. The episode itself was fine, the show could be engaging, the story will likely carry it cause the production and directing so far has been a little bland. |
