Another Madhouse episode based on the key/inbetween animators, production desk, and unit directors involved this time, but damn there were a lot of unit directors (5-6) just for this one.

Titan and Lenny were cool additions to the cast, and they're straight-out likable as of the first minute. The plot is starting to get real as there are some tidbits here and there about the situation that they're currently in.

As far as Takt and Destiny go, looks like they're a special case among Musicarts and Conductors, implying that a life force drain to its Conductor is a very abnormal behavior for a Musicart.

I like where this is going.

Those with dirty minds will find my Steam pic offensive

Lenny and Titan are looking cool and i like titan she is very skillful with her weapon.

So destiny is a special one i see.

lmaoooo the haters for this anime are hilarious. I literally can't wrap my head around people who think the plot is lacking. Like, are we even watching the same show? Sorry there weren't enough OP self-insert MCs and comically large boobs being thrust in our faces for you. If y'all don't find the plot interesting, that's fine, everyone has different tastes. But it's objectively a unique premise that we have pretty much never seen in an anime before, and it's being executed phenomenally. Just go back to watching whatever bullshit isekais are out this season and leave the actual artful shows for the adults.
I hope it's a copypasta because if you're being serious OMG

I swear, most of the things I see here is Madhouse this, MAPPA that... And then there's me who gives 0 fucks and just cares if it looks good and it did.

Action sequence at the start looked fantastic, seemed that Destiny was on a roll there, but when she battled a second time she felt like she was a noob killing D2s for the first time ever XD

I do feel sorry for Anna though, having your sister become a whole different person who might not even be considered human at this point.

Titan's eyes are fascinating but I have an eary feeling about that duo..

Ya bro destroy my house. I don't care; I'm a stoic badass. Not like the other girl could easily have put it down with a clean shot. Another sketchy writing thing I noticed. Lenny says "here in this country we were starting to gets thing back to normal with no attacks for 4 years" or w/e it was. So why tf is the middle of America a cesspool of D2? Did they already map that out from the attack the happened literally yesterday?

Looks like Destiny can't aim for shit, how many shoots did she missed? so bad lol Thank god she didn't even tried to shoot the monster that was attacking Anna.

Is cool to see that Takt doesn't freak out easily, I like it when he insults her too

Another fairly average episode. I kinda like Titan but the show as a whole just doesn't do anything to hold my interest so time to put it on the shelf. Also minor nitpick but I hate when subtitles translate character's names. Either keep the main girl's name in Japanese or have the seiyuu actually say the English word Destiny. It wouldn't even be out of place since the show is set in America.

Nope, it was madhouse. Some foreign animators too, great job by the staff once again, even if i found the art (not animation that was great) to be kinda wonky from time to time.

Funny enough, both episodes 1 and 3 don't have much in-house key-animation at MadHouse so I wouldn't really give that much credit to the studio. It's mostly freelancers for both episodes. It makes sense Madhouse's best producers (the people that get the freelancers onboard) are in charge of the action episodes because Madhouse doesn't have any big projects so they can have some of their best producers move around projects. Meanwhile, MAPPA has plenty of big and important projects, pretty much the majority of their producers and staff have their hands full with other shows. Smart move from MAPPA here to ease the workload.

However even though episode 2 didn't have much action is still the best episode so far overall, it actually made me care about the characters and made me curious about where the story is going.

You know what's more funny? All of JJK's first 3 episodes had less in-house MAPPA key-animators than what Madhouse had in the 1st and 3rd episodes of this anime. So are you sure you don't want to give that much credit to the them because "muh freelancers"? I mean you can do that if you want but at least stay consistent:

Because its MAPPA they dont have in house animators, they are all freelancer. Like some webgens that animate the OP. Thats why its not notable, like other studios does it too. Except KyoAni and Ufo with their in house staff.

Tldr. Its not surprising that some of MAPPA shows are trash and some like this has good animation.

You have no clue what you are talking about so please mind your own business. MAPPA has in-house talented animators. Most notable is Sunghoo Park, the director of Garo, GOH, and JJK. The majority of the studios only have a few very talented in-house animators, the others are just freelancers. KyoAni is probably the only studio that never really uses freelancers. Ufotable doesn't actually have that much talent in-house at all. Most of the best fights in Fate are done by freelancers like the fight in Heaven's Feel Part II between Alter Saber and Berserker which is probably the best fight in all of Fate was done by a freelancer.
Double standards much? Man I don't want to call you a MAPPA fanboy but you're making some wacky points my dude. You went on a rant that basically boils down to "This is not MAPPA's true power, their big guns are busy with bigger things, this is just a side project, stop disrespecting my favorite studio", and then you literally praised them for biting more than they can chew and called it a "smart move" Lmao... I mean one would think the smart move would be to not take on so many projects in the first place so you can avoid spreading your staff thin and needing to rely on outside help. But what do I know lol

Also...
However even though episode 2 didn't have much action is still the best episode so far overall, it actually made me care about the characters and made me curious about where the story is going.
Of course the MAPPA episode is the best one, of course Lmao
Not thanks to MAPPA though, we're talking about animation here, you're subjective opinion on the script is irrelevant.

I'd call this decent episode, though still nothing amazing or exceptional. Certainly better than the last two. Things are actually happening in terms of story, and the pacing felt reasonable. It's a shame the series didn't just start with the last episode. It would have done so much to tighten up the plot and pacing by doing away with the pointless first episode, and just getting right into the characters.

There are still problems, though. The actions scenes are pretty boring and feel like uninspired video game cutscenes. Not surprising, given this show is based on a game. Part of the issue with the action is the lack of stakes. Almost every scene aside from a couple exceptions is just a search and destroy "mission," which makes it hard to get invested in the blow-by-blow action. The one good bit of action was when Anna was in danger this episode and Destiny made her appearance, because it felt like the outcome of the combat sort of mattered.

That kind of real stakes is needed in an action show devoted to fighting mindless monsters. You need to care a lot more about the main characters than this show has achieved, and you need to care about why they are fighting. "We need to kill all the aliens" gets boring fairly quickly in the absence of some additional context provided by the story. We do get that in a couple scenes, but it is vanishingly brief compared to the total amount of fighting. It wouldn't matter as much if the fight design was exceptional, but that hasn't been the case so far. Compare to the later fights in JJK, for example, and the vast difference in the creativity and gravity of the combat should be apparent.

Unfortunately, my biggest issue with the overall premise of the show has only deteriorated: the relationship between the Musicarts and music. I would assume more will happen later to flesh this out, given it is the whole point o the show; but it would've given a much more interesting spin to the combat if there had been an attempt to tie in the musical origins of the Musicarts with their fighting style. As of now, it seems like this amounts to little more than a passive ability to damage the generic-looking aliens, which is hardly an original idea in the spectrum of anime tropes.

It's also a shame that they seem to have given up referencing classical music in this episode. Although, given how badly it was done in the previous two episodes, maybe that isn't such a bad thing.

Oh, and my impression that this show reminds me of Darling in the Franxx was reinforced with the relvation that Destiny may be consuming Takt's life force. This draws another parallel with Zero Two. I guess fans of that show might enjoy the resemblance, but to me it emphasizes the unoriginal and derivative nature of the story, and does little to dispel the notion that this series was concocted mainly to assist with marketing for the game.

The other conductor guy was helpful so Destiny is kinda defective and maybe her taking away or using Takt’s arm when she transforms made it possible for her to sikp most of the process of becoming a musicart

Really need a reliable source whether the episodes are being animated by Mappa or Madhouse or Outsourced. It seems every week we are just being slapped with "trustmeonthisbro" kind of information. We can only slightly confirm them after the episode aired with the end credits (funny thing, some of the creators in the credit list can't even be searched through using search engine but people can still pinpoint which studio are they from)

Before the episode aired, official twitter only got people speculating that EP 3 is going to be animated by Madhouse, but some anime pages immediately posted saying IT IS GOING TO BE ANIMATED BY MADHOUSE, without any source.

For some of us, we really wanted to know, not to bashed or critics any of the studio, but to compare and to learn like how we did with the various Covid vaccine.

Wasn't too impressed with this ep or the one before it, they should have kept going chronologically from the first ep and slowly introduced more of the lore gradually as the journey progressed instead of forcing the backstories down our throats all at once.

Pretty cool action sequence at the beginning.

So Cosette, for an unknown reason, has naturally turned into a Musicart named Destiny. I'm guessing that the reason for this is the stone she wears around her neck has some powers realted to Musicarts. And when she uses her powers it takes away some of Takt's life force.

Seeing Lenny flirt with Takt was pretty cringe, not gonna lie. Takt's frickin house got destroyed but he gives no fucks about it. There was some plot development in this episode, so it wasn't all that bad.

There's just so much missing from this show. We should have spent this episode exploring how Takt and Anna feel about Cosette being replaced by Destiny. Do they hate her for erasing Cosette from existence? Do they feel attached to her because she still possesses the body of Cosette? Do either of them hate her because she's a reminder Cosette is gone? This show just didn't take enough time to let its characters breath and develop, opting instead to give us 5 minutes of mindless exposition with some of the most awkward dialogue so far. They needed someone competent to come in and completely fix up this script, The characters have so much potential but there's nothing there beyond the surface level.

I want to love this show. I love music, especially classical music. But it has so many flaws...

Even though Lenny said that if you become a musicart, you'll become an entirely new being, I still have hopes that Destiny can turn back to Cosette since she's an abnormal musicart. Pretty good episode, with some sexy animation once again at the beginning there.

That explains why they're fine with the festival last episode, since D2's where gone by that time, well until the festival. Somebody probably orchestrated that whole thing and brought back the D2's or something, sus.
