| I have never thought that smoking is considered cool. For all I know, people are dying from it - all sort of cancers, particularly lung cancer will hunt them down quickly. Another worse thing is second hand smoke, which people inhale from those smokers. I don't smoke and will never pick up that bad habit. |

| In anime it is cool when someone smokes. In real life, at a younger age it is considered cool, showing how grown up you are. During teenage years it has a lot to do with social life, others are there smoking and talking, and you wanna join in the convo with them. Best way is probably smoking one with them. Most people as they get older, they say they regret starting and would quit if they could. |
| I can understand why it comes off as cool - some of my biggest heroes smoked in shows I watched as a kid. There's something very visually appealing about it. It adds a small personal touch to a character as well. If you've grown up around people who smoke, there can be something deceptively nostalgic about it too. That said, forgive me for sounding like a 90s afterschool special, but it is not cool when applied to real life as it creates severe health issues. Everyone I know who smokes has had issues stopping unless a severe health problem has come their way where they could no longer smoke without signing a death warrant. My parents and older brother all smoke and likely will never stop. They have smoker's voices and it costs a ton of money with tax on top. It also gives me migraines because I have a smoke allergy. Also, if you're used to smoke, you won't realize you smell like smoke around people who don't smoke which is another issue. Just creating a bunch of headaches for yourself |

| No. I used to work at a hospital, which had rules against smoking on the premises, so when I caught someone smoking, I had to tell them they couldn't. Some complied, others would give me an attitude, like I was infringing on their god-given right. But if I could release steam from my mouth like I were a steampunk golem, now that would be kickass. |
