Best episode of the series so far. Rider's death was probably the best execution of a character's death scene compared to others of the whole show. A fitting, noble way to go out; in such a way to represent who he is.

I loved this episode, but I cannot write down what Gilgamesh says with the line: "That all dreams must disappear when the dreamer wakes."
Can anybody give me this line he says in Japanese?

Finally an epic battle! Compared to Rider...Saber is annoying/boring. Somehow I get the feeling that this series is going to end without "finality". It just has that feel of a lot of effort that will drag on into another series/season. Still on board this train until it runs out of track.

And now, for a moment of silence, for the broest bro the ever be an animated bro. ...

This episode was awesome. The sheer intimidating reveal of Berserker's identity, the banter between Waver, Gilgamesh, and Broskandar, the battle between the two servants, just... YES! I loved how Saber realized how naïve and foolish a leader she was as her battle with Berserker came closer to an end, I love how imposing a threat EA is, and how with the war's mana, it has the power to wipe out a whole existence. I loved the fact that Gilgamesh of all people showed some RESPECT, albeit Broskandar is always worthy of such respect. And it was honestly brave of this series to NOT kill off Waver, even knowing he has nothing to do with anything anymore aside from tie-ins and that one scene in UBW Albeit, it would be typical of this show to do something so tragic to him after we see him and his "grandfather" have a heart to heart. I'm glad it didn't do that. This, along with the better parts of the next episode make up the third and final highlight for the season in my opinion.

[Re-watch | BD version]

What a magnificent episode. Wow, once again I say wow.
Two of the most amazing fights took place in this episode: Arthuria vs Lancelot and Gilgamesh vs Alexander, both visually and content-wisely amazing.

Saber vs Berserker was ruthless, chaotic, explosive... and then he reveals himself, shattering Saber's confidence and all doubts she holds in her heart surface.

In the other hand, the final stand between the King of Heroes and the King of Conquerors... Rider will be himself till the very end, asking Gil if they can join forces (he said be allies, he did not say join his army). Of course Gilgamesh would say no, that's not an offer you make to the oldest Heroic Spirit, and even tho he does not mock of Iskandar but says it's been a long time since he doesn't laugh to what someone that is not a fool says. He only had one friend and it was the only one he would ever want (that's Enkidu by the way).

Ionioi Hetairoi vs All the treasures of the King of Heroes... All his weapons, including the chains of heaven, and the original sword, Ea.
This was an enemy worth of using Ea, Gilgamesh had no problems with it, he wanted to use it, he wanted to defeat him with Ea.

Dreams end when the dreamer wakes, have you awakened from your dream, King of Conquerors?

Gilgamesh was so honorable in this fight, he also saw the loyalty Weaver had towards Iskandar, and he forgave him. That was honorable, and worthy. Keep living Weaver, keep living and tell the story.

Wow dat Ea is super OP .
Rider(Iskandar) and Waver 😢 I almost cried there. Seriously i like rider , such a charismatic and determined man . You can't help but love the man and his view of kingship, truly a man who ignites the aspirations within his people and inspires them to dream and follow him. If it weren't for saber, He'd be my favorite servant. And wow beserker is actually Sir Lancelot , that sounds of rider's words echoing in her head leads her to questioning herself whether she has led him to his madness ...

Rider has absolutely zero influence on Saber's beliefs or her ideology.

She literally could not give a shit what either he or goldie said considering both of them were authoritarian dictators and could never get the idea of a ruler who existed for their people.

Well, it happened. :( I was wondering if Rider would get a heroic death or just be mercilessly plowed down by Gilgamesh - well, a combination of both happened, but it was great to see him getting honoured. Gil using Ea on him is the greatest honour he could bestow. Letting Waver-kun live, too - Gil, you the man.

Also, Berserker as Lancelot finally revealed! I knew it would be too tempting a juxtaposition to resist for the author. Arthur and Lancelot are two of the main protagonists in the first hunt of the Holy Grail, after all.

Man he died a warrior, but should have at least managed to scrape Gilgamesh just a little bit.

I'm sure Waver would appear in future adaptations hopefully.

Rider's death was the most heroic, manly death I've ever seen.
Lancelot looks awesome. And I never thought of it before, but Saber is lesbian haha.

Saber is no lesbian. (jus see sex scene with Shirou in the VN)

Saber is straight, not bisexual. The reason she married guinnevere in her time was for political reasons (a king needs a queen) and we all know how it ended due to saber not paying any attention to her (the Lancelot thing...).

Also, she never shows even a slight hint of liking girls in the source material (which is the original VN and Ataraxia, over +300 hours in total). I know because I read the whole thing. The best you can find is that H-scene in the fate route and she was literally saying Shirou a few times while Rin prepared her for him so that they all get to live another day (forced situation).
After the H-scene, saber's mind is 100% set on Shirou, it's as if nothing ever happened with Rin. This proves IMO that no matter what a girl does to her, saber will never see her as a love interest. She was also very proud saying things like "Shirou knows my body best" and stuff like that. Seriously, if I hadn't watched the H-scene [or if I had read the Realta Nua version ] I'd say Rin was never there cause Saber's attitute towards Rin doesn't change one bit whereas his attitude towards Shirou makes a 180º change. It was clear she loved him, but after that she's so lovestruck she can't even spar with him.

Also, in UBW she just wants to stay in this world in the ending where Shirou actually pays attention to her and gives her love points. In the VN she says she stays for him and flirts with him.
The ending of the fate route can be found in Realta Nua "last episode". According to Nasu it is the epilogues. It's actually quite nice how much she loves Shirou as that ending shows.

Regarding Rin, I'd say she's straight (or bi-curious at most).
The H-scene in the fate route wasn't written by the author Nasu. Also, it is replaced in the newer versions of the game (Realta Nua).
Not to mention it's a forced situation (you die otherwise) and it's an eroge (porn game) in the end, it's supposed to go that way so that the reader enjoys it. A bored expression wouldn't do imo.

In my opinion Rin has always been obsessed with Shirou.
In the fate route once Saber is gone she starts flirting with him and even wakes up early to meet him at the precise time and go to school with him (he doesn't notice it though).

In UBW Shirou actually shows interest in Rin. Rin as a the obsessive girl she is considers it natural that it means they will always be together as a couple and Shirou no longer has a say in the matter. It's an order, not a request. That doesn't mean she doesn't pay head to Shirou's wants though. She accepts it will be a nuisance having to follow him around since he wants to become archer (last scene of episode 25) and that he needs saber in UBW good ending.
In Fate Hollow Ataraxia future Rin from UBW states: "Rather than becoming happy together, I will, with no questions asked, and more than anyone else, give him happiness".
She just runs to save saber in the good ending (where Shirou gives love points to saber and needs her), so that may be a reason (as she runs to save archer in both endings).

In Heaven's Feel after returning to the Emiya House (after spending 1 year in London) Rin says that she's been going out with boys but whenever she is with them she can't concentrate cause that fool's face appears in her mind. Am I in love with him?
Not undermining her Shirou obsession she also thinks she wants to move in with him and her sister (who are dating).
This is very relevant. In London she thinks about Shirou, not Saber. Also, she goes out with just boys.

In Fate Hollow Ataraxia she goes after him and tries to make him hers. You would think it's normal but given that there are already many girls surrounding Shirou anyone sane would just give up on him. In the true ending Rin is just hilarious.

After seeing that battle it really doesn't make sense to me why Tohsaka was so afraid of Riders power after finding out about it when Kotomine used Assassin to show it to them.

Was Tohsaka not aware that Gilgamesh had the Ea and Enkidu noble phantasms? Rider was only worthy of having them used against him, which is more than most of the other servants but otherwise he was never a real threat to him.

That's Tokiomi's downfall. He was too cautious for his own good that he fails to realize the immense power his servant has and in the end he was betrayed and killed without achieving anything.

This Episode was absolutely Magnificent. The battle between Gilgamesh and Rider was Epic. His last herculean charge was truly an unforgettable moment. I knew Gilgamesh was the strongest servant but i never thought he'd powerful enough to kill rider so effortlessly. He's ridiculously overpowered.

Liked the respect between Alexander and Gilgamesh, but I would've liked more of an actual fight instead of Gilgamesh being OP and having tricks to counter everything. Regardless, I loved the development and bond between Alexander and Waver, Rider's final charge was epic, and I teared up at his death. He was a great character, my favorite of the series. Great episode.

Also, the Lancelot reveal was strong. Didn't expect that. I wonder how the dynamic between Berserker and Saber would have been if he didn't get the madness spell when being summoned

Loved how Rider and Archer shared a drink again before the fight

Rider mostlikely knew he could ensure Waver's life if he made him one of his subjects, give him the order to live and that even Archer would respect that order, though Waver having no command spells left was deciding too.

Noticed a Breaking Bad-like song as BGM at start of episode and was amused.

Gilgamesh mentioned he only ever had one true companion which sounds like a reference to Enkidu. Also lol I wonder what they were thinking making FGO's Enkidu look like Rin's mom. Should've had your wife fight the grail war, Tokiomi.

Anyway, teared up a bit, Rider vs Gil battle was awesome. Seriously Rider & Waver are my favorite FSN series duo so far. Also that Lancelot reveal was great. Seems like Kariya went crazy considering imagined Sakura has to mention he killed Mom Tohsaka. I could've skipped the Gil & Kirei conversation in a past episode that took up its entirety leading to an obvious and already foreshadowed team up iirc, but this was the best episode yet and it makes up for it.

Great episode! Amazing visuals and OST, doesnt feel like a 7 year old show at all.

Sad Iskander lost, but Gilgamesh is basically cheating so it was obvious how this would end.

Also sad to see Karya turning into an "evil" puppet.

I wonder how serious command spells are, sometimes they teleport a character, sometimes they basically dont do anything.

the more broad, vague, or long lasting the order is, the weaker the effect of the command spell. on the other hand, command spells are at their strongest when both the master and servant agree on them

so at best, Waver's command spells may have only increased Rider's magical energy and overall strength since he doesn't disagree with them, but them being so broad and time consuming had made them very weak from the get go

would saying "kill Gilgamesh" 3 times be specific enough to make a difference? It seems like its really only usefull for teleportation.

yes, probably

but command spells are primarily a method for masters to keep their servants under their control rather than provide power boosts, if your servant doesn't obey simple orders like "fight saber" or "go to this place and do this thing", then you can force them to carry out these orders with command spells, and if a servant tries harm or kill you, you can stop them with a command spell

if a master doesn't have any command spells, then their servant could kill them at any moment and there's nothing they can do about it
