A love story, a comedy for teenage boys or a hentai, for example. i'm glad you had to make sure to let me know how intelligent you are... theres a difference between showing the characters THAT ARE IN THE SHOW in a sexy angle, in a bikini or w/e and randomly throwing in references to a person that has literally NOTHING to do with the show thats a terrible comparison, justin bieber has literally nothing to do with anime and a characters ass does angling the camera a certain way, or putting the girls in bikinis DOES NOT "stop" progression, the show is still going on.... its not the creators fault if people have shitty attention spans i don't give a shit when you think it should be used.. as far as im concerned thats just you trying to maintain the status quo and trying not to be judged instead of believing in freedom of expression.. which includes being a perv for the sake of it the most important part about fiction is that IT CAN BE MADE HOWEVER.. there are NO RULES, and i 100% appreciate the fact that the much of the anime industry seems to think that way you are applying rules based on societal norms FUCK THAT let them express themselves however, theres no point in fiction otherwise oh and lastly.. you clearly don't know what the hell fanservice is |

| Oh, I should better clarify that phrase @Jokuc. What I meant is that it's quite an absurdity for a show about a vampire to have a beach episode. That added to the joke and charm of the scene, it didn't detract. On the fanservice, you know, my opinion to some degree has changed. I'm more convinced that there's a room for fanservice in this series, this episode's was just not that room and the few clear fanservicey shots feel out of place, like they are just an "extra" to the scene. But having a character like Ellie, her proactivity towards sex and her own sexually charged behaviours, for instance, provides enough of a narrative for lewd visuals around her and the other characters through her eyes. I think it's all about knowing when and how, and this episode didn't quite get it. |

If you are watching a serious drama and suddenly - fart jokes. Would that not feel out of place? I never said that butts stop the progression. I said it does not contribute to it. Ass does not have a purpose for the show itself, it is a result of the creators knowing that viewers/readers want that booty. As you said yourself. I already said it does not bother me (I repeat myself, I like everything lewd), but it does to others because they do not like to see unnecessary (but for some, appreciated) sexualization in the series they watch. I mean, is that really so hard to understand? I absolutely get that you can disagree with them. But I don't understand why you get annoyed when their complaints are totally justified. |

On the other hand, yes, it bothers me that fanservice exists in this anime. Among other things because the framing and "camerawork" in this episode in particular are, at times, forced to include a sexualized perspective of the characters, so it's very noticeable when the shows aims for a scene to be considered fanservice and it creates a disconnect to the rest. Another issue is that the characters are particularly young-looking which makes things more tasteless from an own moral approach. And unlike other cases I could make (Harukana Receive, last season) these shots are particularly inappropriate to the tone of the show and what it has set so far. I would remove fanservice if it depended on me, take that for sure, because it's not an element I enjoy. But even in this basis there's stuff that bothers me more, less or perhaps not at all according to context and circumstances. This show is very mild, but not completely devoid of issues in that respect. To me anyway. idk what to say other than, your typical SJW or at least borderline SJW type mentality... good thing japan doesn't give a shit about people who think like this Your calling someone an "SJW" and that last line in your post particularly suggest that you're thinking of this in terms of some irrational fear that other people not liking fanservice or even simply criticizing how it's used is somehow going to contribute to an evil plot to erase all the sexual attractiveness in the world or something. (You probably enjoy the show for reasons that are very different from mine, but rather than being upset that it's not my favorite character, I'm just happy to see anyone else thinking of the show.) |
