I want this to be an anime about Yuzu freeing all the students at that school from their conformist tyranny.

I hope it gets better. For now it's almost painful to watch. Don't really get where the supposed feelings came from, seems too forced. And Mei is so aggressive for no particular reason.

you need to pay at least a little attention, her 1st assault was after she herself was assaulted by her teacher and Yuzu trying to meddle while missunderstanding what she saw, the 2nd time was after her grandfather forced her to move in with him and Yuzu trying to meddle again.

didn't we have gone over it ?
Yuzu keeps being assaulted by Mei, this time it was at a level of rape attempt. did she ever said she wanted to be assaulted ? no, she only started to have feelings toward Mei.
there are many stories of woman that where assaulted and abused but they keept going back to their home/work.
but also think the "STOCKHOLM SYNDROME" exist only in porn and hentai, woman some times love despite them being abused & not becouse like what "STOCKHOLM SYNDROME" implys

also, yes Yuzu seeked Mei but that was despide her fearing another assault, because she knows Mei needs help, like she figured out that the kiss she saw was an assault and she jumped to her help without a second thought. thats how much of a good person she is.(though, you know the quote "The road to hell is paved with good intentions")
from my point of view, I see that the actions of Mei don't have their source in malice but from her broken self, thats why I can't hate her.

This episode of Citrus is really "Oni-Ukeru" indeed ! XD I'm watching this because I like the MC's best friend character.

MC should choose her best friend instead of Mei.

I am someone that would like to watch a Harem Anime with 2 male leads that each gets their own harem company of girls from the main cast. For example, 1st male lead gets a company of 4 girls and 2nd male lead gets 2-3 girls etc.

The pacing is crap...And it's problematic.....Mei is sexually harassing Yuzu and i'm supposed to believe it's love when it's more like Stockholm Syndrome.

So beeing assaulted is somehow justifies her actions? Besides, she didn't look like she was against kissing the teacher. Yuzu might have been annoying with her meddling and missunderstanding but it's not a good reason to jump at her.

Episode was extremely rushed, and at times made no sense at all.

Mei and Yuzu are two of the dumbest characters ive seen in anime.

Ill give it one more episode to redeem itself. Considering I thought episode 1 was decent.

It's pretty fair to assume that Yuzu would be avoiding Mei if she didn't enjoy her company.

Sorry but nobody is going to take you seriously if you keep using buzzwords like "problematic". If you don't like the anime then so be it, but don't just throw meaningless terms at it. Likewise, your usage of the term "Stockholm Syndrome" leads me to believe that you don't actually know what it means. Yuzu is not Mei's captive. Not even close. Mei avoided Yuzu from the start and it was only Yuzu who wanted to be in contact.

I dunno. Personally I don't write off people based on what *I* think the words they're using mean and treat people with the degree of seriousness depending on the context and their behavior, not based on words they're using. But I guess the latter is easier, you can think less.

Also, harping on technicalities like what Stockholm Syndrome means medically makes YOU look like a nit-picky a**hole, not the other person.

If you don't like it, I suppose you could take it up with the scientists who have been studying Stockholm Syndrome for the last 45 years. Yeah, you could write and have published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal your own paper disproving the idea of Stockholm Syndrome as a bond development between a captive and their captor but rather the attachment of two high school-age female Japanese comic book characters after one kisses the other literally once.

Yes, or, ooooor alternatively YOU could accept that the term has gained a colloquial meaning that diverges from the medical term while still being loosely based on it.

Colloquial meaning has no weight in psychological discussions. The fact is that there is no evidence of Stockholm Syndrome working as you suggest it does. You can't just redefine a highly-researched psychological phenomenon and expect people to take your own personal definition seriously.

With regards to the stick comment, are you implying that I am a homosexual because I identify as non-binary? Is that a slur against homosexuals? Honestly, I am done discussing this with you. Your inability to grasp simple concepts paired with your readiness to resort to ad hominem attacks and homophobic slurs leads me to believe that I'm dealing with someone who lacks the required decorum even for discussions on an Internet forum.

You cannot justify the behavior of Mei. Maybe her character will change in the future and most likely her relationship with Yuzu will get totally different.
But that simply doesn't matter and cannot change the fact that her actions are disgusting.

I think many fans will look at this differently because it's two girls, but just watch these two episodes imagining Mei as a boy.
Would you still be fine with it and say that it's all not so bad?

Oh I'm sorry, I thought this was MAL and this was a colloquial discussion not Cambridge forum and a technical discussion on actual psychology of real people.

I expect you to take this discussion with the degree of seriousness it deserves, not more. Likewise, don't expect me to treat this as a conversation about real psychology, expect me to talk about narrative and characters. Where the colloquial meaning of Stockholm Syndrome absolutely suffices.

Shit man, I though I was treating lesbian drama seriously, but you're on a whole different level. You wanna talk about psychology with randos on MAL? I think you might be wasting your time here doc.

What? I don't know and don't much care what you identify yourself as (I care in as much as I need to in order to remain polite while you behave as a person deserving of basic respect. You're still fine in that regard). And by definition I assume every person I talk to on the internet as "non-binary" since I can't know their gender and even if they tell it to me for some reason, I'm still getting a very limited picture of who they are as a person, a picture in which gender informs so little about what they are and say that it's negligible.

The "stick up your ass" is another colloquial phrase that just means a person is too serious about themselves and too "uptight".

Do you... Not talk with people enough? Because you act like you don't grasp basics of communication. Is English just not your first language? If that's the case I'm sorry (but not TOO sorry, it's not my first language either and yet I can communicate in it just fine). "Stick up the ass" is not a homophobic slur. At least I did not use it as such, if you think that's the case you're wrong but I'm still sorry if that triggered you. You're fine with that word right? "trigger" I mean. Or are you gonna harp on about that just like you harped on about the word "problematic".

You're a tough one to talk to. It would be easier if you stopped seemingly going out of your way to be offended.

To those people disliking Mei, when you finish chapter 27 of the manga you'll learn how adorkable she actually is and how much character development she'll get. Highly unlikely that the anime will adapt chapter above chapter 20+ so if you're planning to drop the anime, give the manga a try :)

Why would anyone give the manga a try if the anime annoys them? Dangling character development as a prize is a bad form for a story. If Mei is not going to develop as a character through the course of the anime, well then that's a huge flaw in the anime. You sort of have to treat these two separately.

The way this show depicts characters' knees bothers me greatly. They literally look like giant mosquito bites/welts wtf.

Anyways, decent episode. I feel like this show is just going to be just dumb fun interspersed with some drama, which is a combination that I don't hate. I am still not completely sold on the Mei and Yuzu as a couple simply because Mei genuinely spoke to Yuzu like a total of 5 times throughout these two episodes. If these characters begin have a more heart-to-heart talk instead of expressing affection through EXTREME physical intimacy (border-lining on sexual assault, wtf Mei), I might start liking these two more. Yuzu is also now confirmed to be a official idiot, like did she REALLY expect that "plan" of her's to work? I don't know how to feel about these type of characters who are so ignorant and unrealistically unaware of social norms and interactions.

I am looking for the next episode, and hoping for more character development. I would also like to point out that I appreciate this show for having some "quiet" moments between the drama and comedy to balance the tone out. I am impressed by how the it handles melancholy and the personal space of its characters by giving them time to reflect, instead of blindly accepting and moving forward.

I am treating them separately and I don't have very high hopes for the anime THAT'S WHY Im recommending the manga. There WILL be some character development in the anime as Mei opens up to other people, especially an important family member. But Idk how well the anime will do it. If you don't want to read the manga Im not forcing you to do so, Im just recommending it if you aren't satisfied with the anime.

I really don't like Mei as a character. She just isn't consistent enough to make much sense. If she's really trying to stay away from Yuzu, what's with the sexy touching stuff? What purpose does that serve? She behaves like someone who's been traumatized by sexual assault and can't fathom any form of intimacy outside of non-con stuff.

I haven't read the manga but, judging by this show so far, I doubt she's as deep a character as that. So this is just kind of a weird series.

Nice animation and comedy though, and decent drama. 6.7/10 so far.

Sexual assault in a story, even if it's a touchy and sensitive subject, can be handled well depending on the writer. It's certainly not supposed to be cute or romantic. It's a hard thing to watch, but I'm not going to deny a writer from ever depicting it in a story. The problem is - and this basically relates to your first sentence - that so many yuri titles have either some kind of sexual assault in it, or the girl ends up forcing herself on the other girl. There are very few yuri series without it, for some reason. And you're right, it shouldn't be excused.

People should avoid more than 90% of yaoi and yuri if you dislike the sexual assaults, innuendoes and so on. I'm not supporting it and personally I think all rapists should fucking die and some of them need to be tortured for their entire life since death is too good for them but there hasn't been any rape in this series so far but I wouldn't put it pass the creator to add it since it's common in a lot of yuri and yaoi.

Anyways the best part was when Yuzu said "baka baka" to the chairman like a little kid and also the part when she put Amamiya on blast and told everyone at the school that he kissed a student. He even resigned, he had a sidechick while being engaged to Mei, which was fucking obvious from the start.

My lord, the animation quality leaves so, so much to be desired. Shoddy movements and still shots galore. They'd better revise the hell out of this in the BDs. KyoAni and P.A. Works are clearly better fit for adapting this manga, because it doesn't come close to capturing the right amount of vibrance and eccentricity of the characters.

Also, Yuzu is really lacking the emotion she should be feeling after getting expelled. In the manga she's actually lamenting internally, and it shows in her expressions and her monologues. In here though, she's all like "aw, how unfortunate that happened." This episode in general just feels sloppier compared to the first, and makes me fear for what more could go wrong from this point forward.

The whole thing is just fan service. I don't really get this lesbian relationship and why Mei keeps forcing on the Yuzu. Mei has come very close to raping Yuzu. It is at these times that I question what constitutes as rape. Is it rape if the other one enjoys it? Is it not rape if it is between women? The plot is just utterly turning to bullshit here.

This has become a nonsense trope in many gay anime like Sakura Trick, Kuzu no Honkai and many other anime. Seriously, it is like they just force the gay relationship instead of making it like any other romance anime, where both the characters have feelings for each other. Even now, gay anime is just for fan service, not for any serious examination of relationships. I can only imagine we have more scenes where the characters just force themselves on each other.

Good luck with that abuse.

I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was bound to lead me to a slow death.

Can this get more overdramatic than it is?

Let' summarize : the girl is kind enough (but too dumb for her own good) to try to save her stepsister (does it even count as stepsister ?) from a arranged mariage, then is almost raped by this very same stepsister and because of that is expelled from school... That's a pretty shity life.

"You should get in too, Mei." Aren't they a little old for that? And have you considered your adopted stepdaughter you just met might be a sexual predator?

Okay, it's the second day and Yuzu's still too dumb to wear the goddamn uniform? That's on her.

"It's about Mei. They came and took her away from us!"

Yuzu: *on the outside* What?
Yuzu: *on the inside* Thank the Lord this crazy bitch is going to stop molesting me while my mom smiles and makes us dinner.

"Don't be scared!" is apparently code for "I clearly want to be sexually assaulted right now." And rather than take any responsibility for it, Mei just lets Yuzu get expelled for being a deviant lesbian. Bitch...
"No, son, you may not have your body pillow at the dinner table!"
