| Errrrrr, it's surprisingly hard to say. KyoAni already "offended" the RinHaru fandom with an almost complete absence thereof in High Speed. And the 3rd season offers a lot of opportunities for them to interact and develop (Olympics and stuff). So there's a chance this time it'll be RinHaru's time to shine. On the other hand, I can't imagine Makoto and Haru drifiting apart too strongly. Ofc, they'll be building their lives based on their dreams and objectives, which may change their dynamic a lot, but hey. We know they are a destined couple appointed by the heavens. No matter what happens, I still clearly see them clinging to each other and putting each other above anything else. This was established and proved too many times. But most likely, nothing will change in that matter, and I highly doubt the balance will be shifted. It's not profitable for KyoAni to underline one ship over the other (though I read some interviews of the Free! scriptwriters, and it's clear they really ship MakoHaru >:) ), since if that happens, the fans of another ship will throw a tantrum and proclaim war on the whole Japan. However, I'm praying for some precious and memorable moments with mai almost-married MakoHaru. |

| I'm a huge Rinharu fan, but they have completely ignored the rinharu fans in season 2 merch. I lived in Japan during the second season debut and all the magazines with posters, keychain prizes, and promotional art had Sourin, Makoharu, and Reigisa. They have already said their peice really. It made me stop buying merch to be honest, and I used to buy every magazine and fanbook they came out with. |

Stuff like this happened though?? I fail to see the platonic way to read that scene, it's straight out of a shoujo manga, whether you want to dismiss it as fanservice or not that's up to anyone's interpretation, but the stuff is still there, the fandom is hardly making it up. |
| The above scene always makes me smh at MakoHaru shippers saying RinHaru has no real basis, is ridiculous, just a rival/hateship, etc. They got an actual bloody sakura petal tree scene. Full-on extreme bloom and all. If one of these characters was a girl, there would be zero ambiguity about whether that scene was intended to be romantic or not. Are Makoto and Haru close? Obviously. Is their relationship romantic? Uh, no. They're basically brothers. As said above, their relationship is cute and pure and very much platonic. If the new season focuses entirely on MakoHaru I'm not sure I'll even watch it; though they've had some sweet scenes, a lot of their extended one-on-one interactions simply bore me. Rin, on the contrary, is interesting to me, and he's pretty much the only person that can get Haru to show some actual emotion. With Makoto, Haru is far more stoic and, dare I say, even dull. Rin makes him alive. Thus, RinHaru all the way. |

But yeah, I see Makoto and Haru as best friends who are practically like brothers. But RinHaru as more of a romance thing. Same with Rin and Sousuke vs Sousuke and Makoto. Rin and Sousuke are buddies, but I see Sousuke getting this crush on Makoto and vise versa. Sure they haven't talked much(YET! D: ) but I'm sure we'll get more interactions between them in the third season. But I mean, this is just all in my head. | MakoHaru please. In fact, I don't have nothing personally againt RH (in S1 actually I pretty hated Rin, not because of the ship, but for his shitty personality xD), I actually like some RH doujins. And I've learn how to love him. The only thing I hope is KyoAni don't push a S/M thing (I really doubt it, but who knows?). This ship is probably the crackiest ship inside a fandom in BL world. To be honest, only outside Japan S/M has some kind of popularity. Inside there is just unpopular as SouHaru (my secret guilty pleasure xD). No matter how sexy they look together, their chemistry is pretty inexistent; |

think about the way Rin poured his heart out to Haru while crying and Haru just took it in while saying and doing nothing. Meanwhile, after Haru admits to Makoto that he appreciates everything his best friend has done for him (in their hotel room), he gets so embarrassed that he runs out of the room. That's a bit unfair. Haru smiled up at Rin with such a fond expression on his face while he was crying. What was he supposed to do, get up and run in that moment?
