He never held anything against his mother for one, so he wouldn't need to forgive her in the first place and he knew that his father was the root cause of the incident due to his abuse that gave her mental trauma, so he naturally placed all the blame on him. Do you even pay attention to the series? Anyway, what you ask for will never happen since they are rekindling their close bond that they once had. Todoroki visits his mother in the hospital on all of his days off.

OT: Anyways this episode is a plus ultra!/10. Bones knocking it out of the park yet again.

What's the point of of throwing that small insult? I'm obviously paying attention. My point is that as Todorok matures hei should eventually place some blame on his mother. She was going through some horrible stuff, but there's never any excuse or justification for putting your innocent child through intense and permanent physical and mental trauma. His father was really in the wrong and she was also really in the wrong. She selfishly disowned her own child because he shared a feature of a man she despised. A truly despicable decision. Her and Todoroki should be haunted by her disgusting mistakes for the rest of their lives. Are you telling me that if some bullies physically attack and scar an alumni he has the justification to shoot up the school? Of course not.

Absolutely agree I said something like this when they showed Todoroki's backstory ,alot of the time they always play the sympathy card even when women do despicable things and can be forgiven. Men on other hand are monsters have take full responsibility for their actions and there is no forgiveness.

Like I said, Todoroki's mother became mentally disturbed when the the incident with Todo happened. Endeavor is the root cause of said mental disability and is made more guilty by the fact that he knew full well what he was doing (physical/mental abuse) but didn't give a sh*t anyway. Todo's mother just couldn't take it anymore to the point of having a psychotic breakdown. Does that really justify condemnation?

She's as much of a victim as Todo is since her entire purpose for years of her married life was to be a breeding machine for Mr. No. 2 Hero in order to produce a suitable offspring who could possibly surpass Allmight.

Which part of her being locked up in a mental institute from Todoroki's childhood til present day (~10 years, if he was around 5) is not enough?? Do you need to see todoroki shouting at her like a madman to be satisfied? Todoroki himself said that she apologized ffs.

And no, this is a special case. She was basically the only proper parent todoroki had, with endeavor abusing both of them. The accident was a lapse of judgment brought from years of abuse - people with trauma and/or panic attacks does not exactly behave rationally. She herself was talking to the phone about staying away, concerned about the safety of her children, knowing that she's on the brink of lapsing and wanting to protect her kids first. Nothing in this backstory implied that her injuring todoroki was intentional or out of hatred, it was an accident.

On the other hand, Endeavor is still fine and dandy as the #2 hero despite *intentionally* doing so much shit to his family, with no sign of him having to take responsibility anytime soon. "Take full responsibility" my ass, keep your sexism away from a properly written backstory.

I was a little disappointed by Stain's quirk. Its pretty cool here, but it does pale in comparison to other paralyzing super powers. Thankfully for a guy who only has one super power Stain has some surprisingly strong durability, coordination, and agility (But its anime so why question it).

That's part of his charm, imo. He's not some super lucky dude born with a crazy OP power, killing people less lucky than him. No, he has a mediocre quirk, and yet still managed to be an absolute beast through training his physique alone. Much more respectable, and really establishes how one's quirk isnt everything in this world. Despite having an insanely OP quirk, todoroki is still a student and can still be outclassed by experience and training of a pro villain.

While facepalm is always up for destruction for lulz, he actually has a goal here. He mentions that in the episode.

Once the night is over, the world will have forgotten about you, Hero Killer.

Hero killer is trying to improve heroes by making a name for himself as an executioner, like Light Yagami. Facepalm doesn't like him, so he is creating an even bigger disaster diverting all the attention from Hero Killer to himself.
It's a childish tantrum where he is trying to break the other kid's toy because he wouldn't play with him.

She was put into a HORRIBLE situation. But that is no excuse for PERMANENTLY scarring her completely innocent child and putting him through agonizing psychological trauma for a large percentage of his youth. Your true nature is shown by how you react to awful situations and her true nature was definitely revealed.

Call it whatever you want unless you want to call it malicious, because it was not. She had a mental breakdown. Todoroki was looking at it from a childs perspective, but for all we know she actually needed to go to a mental hospital because, you know, she did just permanently scar her child because of her madness.

"Mom, I'm going crazy. I can't take it any more. Every day, the children seem to become more and more like him. Shoto.. That childs left side looks very unsightly to me. I can't raise him anymore. I feel like I shouldn't.

Then young Todoroki interupts, the tea boils over, and if you go to 16:27 here http://www.crunchyroll.com/my-hero-academia/episode-23-shoto-todoroki-origin-733235 you will see some of the craziest crazy eyes you can imagine.

Remember that Todoroki is the youngest, obviously, and that he's the fourth child. This women has spent years bearing children for a douchebag who terrifies her and had a psychotic break.

What son wouldn't forgive a mother something like that when those were the circumstances?

Some bullies torment a fellow student for years. You are also bullied by the same people. He decides to shoot up the school. You get hit by a bullet and are permanently paralyzed. You understand he was going through time in his life, but you also know what he did was awful and unforgivable. My point is that Todoroki should develop into a character that realizes his mother isn't a saint.

Plus, Gran Torino doesn't seem to have a mobile, so he couldn't send him his location.

I see. it all make sense if he sent to all of his contacts. we don't really know if GT don't have a mobile or not, there's no official statement regarding that, right?

first: "obvious he doesn't have it"? do we have a exact statement regarding that from a trusted source, or it's just your assumption? if you can't confirm that, then it is also obvious that everyone does have a mobile phone, ffs.

third: isn't it obvious? Stain directly mention it to Iida himself, saying that Iida should reflect on himself, he shouldn't use his power for himself, but to save others, and Stain also saying being taken by the hatred is the furthest from what a hero should be (in other words, a villain). it even mentioned twice, at the beginning of fight (before Deku comes), and after Todoroki flashback. so, who's that don't have a memory now? me or you?

so there's a Nomu-making something, though the new three nomu seems like not that as strong as the one in USJ. I guess they won't have much problem with it, considering there's a lot of of pro heroes there. Kinda shocking on Endeavor doing the hero thing xD.
Tenya needs to calm down and do what he must supposed to do. Deku and Todoroki combo was awesome, I need more.

Yeah, there's no official statement, however when they were in the train he said "The minute you sit down, out comes the damn smartphone. You really are on of the kids these days."
I know that doesn't mean that he has none, but imo this increases the chance. Plus even if he has one, it doesn't mean that Deku has him in his contact list.

Its awesome to see two characters who barely exchanged a sentence last season suddenly come running to each others aid, ready to team up no questions asked.

The fight choreography was also a lot of fun though sometimes ridiculously exaggerated. Deku making use of the environment by jumping from wall to wall and delivering powerful punches was awesome.

his quirk being kinda meh is kinda why he is such a badass. Most of what he is doing is just base stats with no quirk amping him to.

You also want him to hate her to the point of never forgiving her for the rest of his life from what I gather. You want this from a kid that just firmed his resolve to be the best hero he can be. And not a Punisher type hero mind you.

Shoto does say saving her (from both Endeavor and herself) would be his starting line to be able to move on and work on his own goals and be his own person. Quite appropriate. You want him to carry a lifelong grudge against both his parents and never get any form of closure?

Directing to someone who need them to harm themselves, which you didn't propose to but the lack of purpose of you're trying to recap from others. Saying "Who's that don't have a memory now? me or you?", is sort of stupid. You knew I was talking to you since you responded to me very lately, you think I don't have good memory to start with. Actually, we all have a memory now. You're just neutral, which it's fine who you're suppose to be. But, to simply put this. As you're trying to explain in a paragraphs, I had sense that it's a bit too short to just write another paragraph. So what just happened to me recently? Why am I so calm? After episode 16 were released, I had so much sugar from the fight scene to the end while I watched it. After I came to this discussion, and I read yours. I immediately didn't think carefully and just proceed it.

The third paragraph were a bit confusing but I don't want to justify it because it seems to make sense a little bit. A first paragraph is where the problem we have about Grand Torino does have mobile phone or not, what makes sense is the contact list from Midoriya's mobile phone. He sent the location in Hosu to all the heroes but what we should expect and to knowledge is that Grand Torino had a fight on Nomu and we're sure he was too busy, also Nomu are actually really strong and not to say "I think" and "I bet". It takes tremendous amount of time to defeat them and that's why it distracted him for too long. There you have it. Any issues with that, explain it as possible.

Todoroki wasn't fault for having a fire side like his father and instead his mother took out her anger and frustration by scaring him, her having a moment of a mental outbreak doesn't absolve her actions. If Endeavor was given a backstory to why he acts the way he does and reason for being extreme and nonchalant regarding training Todoroki would you be so forgiving of him would that absolve from his actions exactly you wouldn't.

Great episode!! And what I want to say to Iida is if you want to fight, you must stand up and fight, not only talk and cry. If you can't fight just shut up, man, let the others fight in your place. I think Stain is right when he say that a hero is not a person who talks about revenge, but I really hate his reason to kill heroes because they're fake or just not good enough. What I still don't get is why the Nomus were deployed. They main goal was to destroy Stain but they literally have been doing everything except that.

That's not the purpose of the Noumus though. The purpose of deploying the Noumus was primarily to steal the spotlight from Stain. Shigaraki doesn't like how he is getting recognition, so he wants to show the world what a "real" villain is capable of basically, albeit in an extremely childish manner.

I was a bit worried when the people in the crowd during the tournament arc said that the students could already be top sidekicks, but this episode reminded me of why the pros are pros. They have so much smarts and experience compared to the kids. It's so fun to watch fights that are thought out choreographed as well as this one has been so far 😊 Here's a great comment pointing out details of the fight.

You forgot the part where todoroki's mom isn't a random fellow bully. She was his only proper parent, the only one who actually loved him throughout his childhood and helped him go through the abuse from his dad. You also forgot that the damage she gave him was only a burn, caused by an accident from a lapse of judgment, not a meticulously planned revenge shooting.

Your example downplayed her virtues/importance while making her mistake sound many many times more damaging. That analogy is hilariously terrible, the two situations are in no way comparable.

"Nice ad hominem" he says, as he used a more extreme ad hominem. She didn't hate him, it's endeavor she's traumatized by. She lapsed because unfortunately his left side reminded her of endeavor. Nowhere in the phone call did she say she's growing to hate todoroki.

Also no, hurting your child is in no way acceptable. That's why she was sent to a fucking mental hospital for ten years, ffs.

All todoroki wanted to do was to reconcile with his mother, to put this stuff behind him and move forward. They did, she apologized to him and encouraged him to move forward. And here you are whining that he shouldn't because she hasn't suffered enough and should pay more.

The one key thing that most of shounen animes (expecialy largest one) miss to do is proper character development and Boku no Hero fix it and mix the brilliant character development with amazing soundrack and animation in this and all episodes so far !
Lets talk about about the episode itself.
I love how Todoroki changed so much and now trying to save Iida like Izuku save him and break his body for sake of Todoroki .
Stain morality and point of view is one of my favorite things about this villain. He is not villain in sake of being villain,he showed that in last 3 episodes very well and I really like it.I hope all people saw how he reacted to the ,,pure" heroism of Iuzku..Stain started to gain respect for Izuku and decided not kill him.
This is hero x villain dynamic and relationship that is worth to be developed.

You misunderstood. The bullies represent Endevour, the victim of the bullying that shoots up the school represents the mother, and you represent Shoto. The analogy is very comparable. In both situations a victim is tormented into permanently scarring innocent people. School shooting don't have to be meticulously planned. It can be as simple as bringing a parents weapon to school the next day. How can you continue to downplay her crime? She literally mentally destroyed her son by disowning him (her being the only person in the world he trusted), realized what she had done, and decided to fix it by restraining him and pouring scorching water on his face. That's not merely an accident or lapse of judgement. Sure she definitely wasn't sound mentally, but it's ridiculous to claim she has no responsibility. Also doing virtuous things does not make the wrong you've done go away.

really?
first, you said that "do you have a memory? answers: no" to me, which I am consider a small insult. do i need to quote your post?

and now you said "you think I don't have good memory to start with", isn't it you who said that I don't have a memory? who exactly the victim here? don't reverse the role.

Can we really just change this subject? This is totally irrelevant what we're discussing. We ain't here to argue. We ain't here to demand for such harm or violence. We're here to discuss about 'Boku no Hero Academia 2nd Season' for this topic. So which sides should you be?

i just finished episode 16....wow
I'm so happy they continued it.
This show is freakin amazing and I love Shoto.
Also, I think when they show the "breaks" in the episode with the identification card things, I really like that!

Dude you misunderstood Todoroki mother, she not doing it on purpose she just scared of what behind her just that, if endevour is behind her the result will be same. Do you ever know what " baby blue " is, those people are more worst than her, like cmon do you see the flashback when his mother and todoroki watching All Might on TV see how happy they are. In the end they both forgive each other for what happen in the past, or do you want him to pour hot water into her so that you feel relieve, how f**kup your mind are.

OMG! This is too much awesomeness!
The whole episode feels like it went just by a few minutes!
Stain is really an enemy not to be taken lightly! damn it's like 4 on 1...actually 2 on 1.
So, i noticed the time limit for Blood type O is lesser since Deku could immediately move but as for the 1st hero & Ilda they still could not move. Well what about Todoroki? is it plot hold that he can still totally move even though he has been hit with the knives of Stain!???
5/5!

EDIT: i re-watched it again and it seems Stain didn't make contact of Todoroki's blood.

Are you even watching the same show now? Disowning him? Restraining him? What the fuck have you been watching?

She was calling her parent IN PRIVATE, asking for help because she's afraid she's about to lose it from the abuse. Todoroki suddenly showed up and surprised her. She lapsed, accidentally knocked a kettle of boiling water to his face. How the fuck did you end up perceiving that as some kind of planned child torture? That's the reason todoroki still asked where she was after the incident - he KNEW she didn't mean it. Endeavor didnt give a shit about her and locked her up without a second thought. Do you really think a "mentally destroyed" disowned son would look for his mother?

You dont accidentally repeatedly shoot a gun around a school murdering tens of people. It's a conscious decision to bring a gun and take people's lives. It's absolutely different from an accident done in a panic.

It is 100% implied that she purposfully poured the water on his face. It was not an accident. She made a conscious effort to scar her sons flaming side, the side she despised. Despite her not meaning for him to hear she still disowned him.

so Todoroki steals the show again, but this time iwth character development.

he doesnt seem like the kind who would give a shit abt what happens to his classmates or in their personal lives, but he does.

Adds a whole new sympathetic layer to him.

I have to admit that this episode was very good.

I was wondering that too. It wouldn't damage someone only if they were really fucking strong, I guess.

Izuku hit Todoroki with the 5% smash during their fight, and it didn't do much damage either.

Damn, the guy creates wind with his fingers, explodes ice and stuff but when he hits someone it doesn't do anything lol. Do you remember the episode? Was it a direct hit or was it blocked?

Direct hit in the stomach, episode 10.

But when he destroyed the ice (and his fingers) he was using 100%. He decided to sacrifice his fingers because it was the only way of fighting Todoroki's ice. Going 5% wouldn't be enough. All Might explained that in his inner monologue during the episode.

Basically Izuku can go either 5% or 100%. At first he could use only 100%, breaking his bones, but after the fight with Nomu in the first season he started to control it. Everytime he said "imagine the egg not exploding in the microwave" or something like that, he is using 5%. He doesn't hurt himself with 5%, but it is not that powerful.

This was gooooooood.
Really good.

I like the OST too, pretty menacing.
In fact, the whole arc so far has raised the stakes so much higher just by not taking place in a controlled environment. It's great to see Deku out and about doing hero things.

Stain's tongue is still grossing me out and I definitely cringed when he tried licking Todoroki's face. I'm glad we finally got the down-run on his Quirk too and I like the twist about Blood Type affecting how much the ability works.

I might have cried a bit about the stuff with Todoroki because he's come so far in this second season that it's hard not to route for him! Bless him and his silent concern for basically everyone.
Hopefully Iida gets the same treatment character-wise because I just want to slap him in the face right now.

Cliffhanger killed me because I finally thought Iida was gonna move and then bam. ED song kicks in. ;-;

Great, great ep. The only thing that could improve this would be seeing more of the U.A Students...I wanna know what they're all up to!
