Glad they focused on Sasha this episode. I loved the part when she saved the child from that titan.

And what's up with the crippled titan lol

Anyways, I'm looking forward to the next episode. I hope I'll get used to the ED soon though haha.

I've felt somewhat distant from this show in the past (I liked the first season, it was pretty alright but I think it might be the popularity that sadly ruined this show for me and I know that is a pretty bad reason but I'm not sure tbh) But it has some characters that I really enjoy, like Sasha. Seeing her again, with an actual episode mostly around her sort of touched me? SNK's plot is pretty good overall but I think the highlight for me that is going to keep me watching is seeing some people in the supporting cast that I like. Not a huge fan of like Eren and Levi, again mabey it's the popularities fault who knows that is just my opinion anyways.

I think the OP's grown on me :)

I didn't think I'd like an episode away from all the action, but this Sasha episode was great! Thought that reading the manga might've ruined it for me, but this episode revived my hype for this show :D

Are the events in the first half of the episode (with Eren's group leaving) not concurrent with the events of the second half (with Sasha)? It is night when Eren's group is leaving but daytime when Sasha breaks off her group.

That’s the same thing I thought. It felt forced to make Sasha look like a badass, but it was just stupid to me.

I didn’t really care for this episode. I want plot, not side character backstory. It had a few nice moments but it was bad overall. The shocked kid’s expression was weird, it made me laugh rather than feel bad for the character.

For some reason I really loved the background music in this episode. It was good to see Sasha meeting her father after such a long time. And that poor girl and her mother ( glad that the girl survived ). So we will surely know the fate of Conny's family in next episode and ughh the weird Titan that destroyed Conny's house

It's as self-explanatory as in the comic when you watch the titan and the house's conditions:

not filler wasn't slow either

I didn’t figure out that it was Conny’s mother. Hard to call that plot when it’s so easy to miss (and is like 30 seconds out of 24 minutes).

They are different chapters in the manga but are in the same time. We are watching the same day all over.
In the first chapter we started with a messenger informing about the titans breaking the wall at the evening, and then we jump to that... afternoon? when they see the titans, send that messenger and how Mike fights against some titans and what the beast titan makes him.
In the second chapter we see what's happening with Sasha while Mike is fighting those titans and the scene with Eren is the next thing after the messenger alerts them.
In the third chapter we are going to see what happens at the same time Mike is fighting those titans and Sasha is saving this girl, but from Connie's perspective.

@Rei366 It's a shame that so many people seem to think that "plot" equals big revelations shoved down your throat or action scene after action scene, especially when it comes to a series as mystery-oriented as SnK. Every single bit of information and hint to see and understand the bigger picture is important, but make them "easy to miss" and people won't call it plot anymore. With just a bit of thinking and from the elements gathered in this episode only, it's actually fairly easy to make an educated guess on the current situation within Wall Rose (more than one user in this thread made the correct guess after all), but I suppose complaining about allegedly slow pacing and the supporting cast getting necessary development is easier than sitting down and doing some actual theorizing.

That end... srsly wtf was that. Please don't tell me this is another one like Eren and Annie...

I want an explanation before they introduce more of those >.<

Also I was expecting more death. Sasha got out of that trouble quite easily (luckily. One of the best characters) and Connie was just careless AF. In the first season plenty of people died because of such behavior.

The thing that makes this story (anime and manga) such an "overrated" show/manga as the naysayers like to call it is the suspense. You don't know why things are the way they are and unless the story decides to let you in on it you cannot possibly guess what is truly going on. You will have fun or maybe be stressed (like me haha) trying to figure it out but you just gotta wait to see it unfold. And so as much as the naysayers may feel oddly bothered about it, this show lives up to its high rating in every way. The hallmarks of a good story is that it keeps you hooked and on the edge of your seat. I mean how many heart attacks does a person get in the course of the 20 or so minutes of an episode of this show? Even a seemingly "chill" episode like this one that was more about character building had our blood pressure rising. If its good, its good.
hahaha Naru, also how I felt when I learned how to read all my Kana. Barakamon is everything!!:'D

Some people react to traumatic events by basically shutting down and becoming paralyzed in fear.

Adrenaline can block out pain or the mother may have been a full blown paraplegic meaning she wasn't really feeling the bites.

I do think that scene could have been played out better, it felt a contrived and a bit silly with the girl deciding to make a comment about Sasha's manner of speech when her mother was still being eaten alive.

I was going to say the same thing, I think the mother was a paraplegic. That's probably what the girl meant by "Everyone in the village knew about her legs." But our explanation only covers why she wasn't screaming in pain. Doesn't explain why she wasn't screaming in terror, but I guess there could be any number of explanations.

I think they had the girl comment on Sasha's manner to set up the flashback and to further establish how deeply in shock she was.

On a side note, I've thought these first two episodes were pretty good, but it has been a real departure from the last season in the sense that they're spending a ton of time developing some of the more minor characters and both episodes have concentrated almost exclusively on a single character. When you consider that it's only slated for 10 more episodes, I just wonder about the pacing.

There have been some of the trademark shock value moments though. For me, the ending to episode one was one of the most disturbing scenes in the series, up there with the part in the Trost arc where Eren saw everybody's corpses in the Titan's stomach. Then in this episode I thought for a moment that it was another human raping and cannibalizing that mother, but thankfully they didn't go that far.

The editor told him he didn't feel it was the right time to kill her. Sasha wasn't even popular when this chapter was release in the manga from my understanding, she got popular when the anime had aired.

Think about it, how could fans influence him from killing her when they didn't know that she was going to die in that chapter?

I feel like you're just being silly for the sake of it. There are different responses to stressful/life-threatening situations and going into shock is absolutely one of them. Not everyone is gonna run around and like headless chickens and scream in horror: some will fight back, some will freeze, some won't do either and flee, and there's legit no way to pedict how you'd react before it happens to you. Not sure what your problem is.

Armin's always the smart one and its always nice to hear his theories though.
Lol you're bringing Nick along for the reinforcements but since he knows more than he's saying it will be a good experience.
The irony that Titans have been protecting them from other titans though lol.
After all he's seen and been through Eren's behavior on hearing about Nick is to be expected i guess.

Sasha and her continuous hunger though lol
A side effect of the breaches in the walls will be of course be the fact that more people will be living on someone else's land and changing them to suit their needs. Something thats unavoidable i guess. Sometimes this will also affect their traditional life as well sadly. Still its nice to see Sasha stand up for tradition though. Tradition where you stay isolated or family and connection with the outside world eh. Tough choice really.

I always thought that the little girl that remained in the village was weird when i saw her in the manga. She's just as weird now. The people that lived in the village sure were jerks just leaving the child and her mother behind as they knew that her legs were bad. Still Sasha was pretty brave in trying to get the child to safety on foot though. Krista was always the kind one that stood up for people. Its nice to see Sasha get some development as a character though. Its takes guts to take on a titan with just a bow and arrow. Its nice that Sasha and her father were able to meet up again and that her father finally accepts her. Meanwhile at Connie's village.

The Wall that protects the humans from the Titans is made out of Titan skin? How ironic.

So Sasha was unable to slice off the nape of the Titan's neck with an axe? I guess axes aren't as effective as the 3D Maneuver Gear?

Sasha using the move to escape the Titan's grasp being the same move she used to get the meat from her dad was cool, I guess.

Nice to see her reunite with her dad at the end.
