When I go home from my workplace, I see a dozen or two of attractive girls every time (it's summer here, and the girls are beautiful where I live, it might be different for you). And every time I just pass them by, not even having enough time to appreciate their legs/face/shortness of their skirt. Once in a while, one of them will reveal herself to be a bad person by doing something bad, like badmouthing somebody on the phone, or smoking on the bus stop. On the other hand, with an anime girl you spend a whole season, seeing her overcoming difficulties with determination, making friends, doing whatever she is doing... in your view, she becomes a person, not one of those faceless masses you walk by. And one can only love a person. |

Which anime is that? Sorry if that's a stupid question. To answer the OP, I'm sure there are more than you'd think. I sort of don't understand but sort of do--anime characters can be idealized representations of a personality type, so that can on its own be regarded as attractive, but I can't fathom preferring the way a cartoon character looks over the way a real person looks. |
