what, yozora already flirting with Koharu :D
so four stars academy means four classes: dance, model, theatre and song. Funnily, remind me of Hogwart :D

surprisingly, laura enter song class too. I was expected theatre class like tsubasa though.

OP is good. And romantic hint between the boy and yume, no just no.

the interaction between Laura and Yume here so good. Seems on this episode, Yume's performance is ordinary not like first stage make ppl like headmaster and students wondering is it luck or she just don't fully serious.

next episode, audition for deciding the class.

Interesting to see will there really be romance or not, op is hinting in a weird way. Because i have watched orignal Aikatsu, so i'm the type to think there should be no romance in Aikatsu, thats the rule!! Will Aikatsu Stars! change the rule?

As i said in previous episodes, this new series seems to have more contents than the original and more colourful also.Thats why it was interesting to see the 4 different classes system. Of course i won't say its good or bad, still need more episodes to judge.

I believe Yume's hidden talent will be crazy, just like Ichigo. Still, Yume is hardworking at the same time, so no problem. Laura has very good personality, her expression is very good also, cute to see Laura helping Yume in the mid episode. She will definately be the number 1 rival for Yume.

The S4 team is cool as always btw. Hahaha

Really the headmaster sure is a bit dark, saying something like making Yume stop aikatsu if she is not suitable, thats harsh. It make you feel like some dark plot going around~

so I don't misheard about he want Yume to stop (or like indicating want to dispel Yume from 4star gakuen) if it just luck huh?

I mean, it is just don't feel right expecting something big and amazing from someone who just start her idol activities, right?

and yeah, I don't feel hype too about romance between boy and girl here T_T

Laura is pretty good on stage, she makes a great rival for Yume. Yume is having quite a bit of trouble in training, hopefully she'll get better on her own quickly. The headmaster is a complete jerk.

I don't think that will end well, the fanbase may not like it so I'd say no romance. However I may change my mind if it turns out the romance is done well.

It's really felt kind of dark in end, no it's not like headmaster want her to quit or something, well I kind of knew it that Yume performance will become normal again, it was her first stage and must some kind of hidden talent that wake up conscious, she didn't even remember her performance.
Yup she is a hard worker and Yume and Laura already become so close friend and rivals.
I'm a bit curious on OP thought, male character there... I doubt there will be romance but I believe that guy will help Yume.

Great opening, it was stunning! Also nice scene with Yume and Subaru in the opening. I'm really curious how their relationship will be. Looks really interesting.
Episode was also really good. More about the school itself and the S4.
Rola-chans voice was really good in the performance. Can't wait for next week. Hope we'll get to see Ako-chan and the other beauty sooon~

Favourite moments from the new opening:

1. I like how everyone here hates the guy -- me too.

2. Things started off rocky between Yume x Laura, but it was actually kind of heartwarming to see Laura defend Yume against those gossipers at the end.

3. Yuri confirmed: Yozora x Kohaku

Yozora: You are, without a doubt, a pure, genuine girl. I can understand everything about you just by the sight of your skin.

Rather than full-blown romance, I'd be interested in a more subtle crushing thing developing over the course of the series. It could be cute. And it'd kill most of the yuri discussion. Yuri is gross.

I have mixed feelings about the darker undertones (the headmaster), but it's nice to see the show making changes to the formula while still staying true to what made the original series special. Laura also makes a far more interesting rival than effin' Mizuki.

I could easily see Stars surpassing the original if it keeps things up and stays away from most of the repetition. Quite impressed with it so far.

Eehhh Laura and Mizuki aren't really comparable. I would say a more accurate comparison would be Hime and Mizuki

Huh, I was quite impressed with this episode. Laura is great all round and I like the prospect of Yume not being completely gifted or that hardworking at the beginning as it can allow for a lot of growth even if it did get a tad dramatic at the end there with the gossiping and the potential for expulsion. Just looking at the different schools gave a lot of fun variety and I'm already loving this rivalry going on between Yume and Laura. It seems much more genuine this time around than the Ichigo, Seira one.

I wish they'd make the "ordinary" performances stand out a bit more than the amazing ones because they all look the same to me..

I liked getting to see Laura perform too, but it's kind of weird that they chose the same song that they used for the audition.

I wonder if Yume's crunches actually made her better at singing.

at least for screwed up performance like sumire, the only difference is the special appeal or the aura that came out in the middle of performance. in episode 1 is the rainbow and ep. 2 just lesser thing like ribbons.

Good series so far. Though, I don't love the characters yet. Aikatsu had a cast full of flavor and personalities. Though, still very early.

This whole Yume rivalry with Laura reminds me more of Ran and Hikari

So we got to see 4 different types of classes. Just a theory, since there are 4 classes, what if each class sent a representative to the S4. Since Yume and Laura are both in the same class, that would mean only 1 could go to S4. It's just a theory so I could be wrong.

Quite interesting to see different types of Aikatsu training, very refreshing.
Laura helping out Yume, aww. This is the kind of rivalry I like. Laura's character was very likable here, especially because she told off the girls at the end.

Speaking about the ending, that headmaster sure looks cold. So he wants to expel Yume if he finds out that 1st performance she had was all luck?

This headmaster is giving me bad vibes.

Is there going to be one spot - and only one spot - in S4 for Yume or Laura (or someone else) to take? The basis of this rivalry seems a bit flimsy.

If someone join S4, it won't be S4 anymore :) Pretty good episode, i like Laura and Yume rivalry, and really like this season so far, i just hope:
- No addition of great characters, only to put them into shadows later, to say catchphrase once in a while
- No ties! Have characters actually lose.

It was bad...oh my.

Aikatsu (at least season 1 and 2) had it's serious moments but for most of the time it was goofy. This tries to be serious but fails and becomes boring.
It felt disjointed - just jumping from one scene to another, without too much things between (it might be better with two episodes for that performance).

Rola seems like a fun character, Yume is kind of bland but at least not irritating. That main techer makes me miss Johnny ever more :(

Also: mysteries, hidden talents, amnesia - it could work in weird world of PriPara but Aikatsu was bit more grounded in reality.

TBH, With the her previous song and dance being basically identical,I'm not sure what made this second performance seem so mediocre to everyone else. Also kind of confusing as to why the headmaster is now suddenly and ominously threatening to expel her if she's "not up to par". Since it's only episode 2, i'll continue watching, simply because I find the whole plot presented really confusing so far and I want to hear an explanation for it lol.

I'm still holding out on the theory that Yume was possessed when she gave that previous performance lmao.

3/5
I couldn't think of anything cool to put here.

okay well so far,now that ive watched the subs, i can say im liking the story so far. reminds me of the feeling i got from the first two episodes of Aikatsu s2, having big stakes on the line and people feeling the severity of the situation. (just hope it does better than s2 tho)

i actually like the characters so far, really loving how they're displaying their "individuality" which is a problem that s2 and onward of Aikatsu had a points imo.

Talking about expelling MC-chan is stupid tho, sure her performance may have not been as good as before but its not like she fell flat on her ass. from all the gossip, it seemed like she was at-least average. Is he gonna expell they're whole grade or something? i dont understand.

but, w/ the cgi... when mouths simply move when they shouldn't and vice versa, there is a big problem. i dont really understand this constant downgrade in quality. from my understanding, they only had a a handful of people working on the 3d performances before, so it wouldn't seem like cutting he budget there would save alot of money. this is just not good

Koybz said:

easy ways to tell how good or bad a performance is in this series is the aura effect the idols emit. in this episode, there was only one rainbow appearing around the stage at the end of song as apposed to the 3 that showed up in yume's first performance.

im not sure of how idol auras work when your solo/when your in a group, so i cant really compare Yume's first performance aura and her episode 2 aura. it does seem that the amount of ribbons floating them tell us about how good a person is in a group performance, since Yume had 1 ribbon above her and the Rival-chan had 2.

edit: okay, i just went back to check the differences and they seem a bit i different than what i remember. as far as the rainbow goes, in the Duet performance, there is only one big rainbow that appeared behind the stage, looking like just apart of the stage effect https://youtu.be/Izf2BYzmRv0?t=169

but, in Yume's solo performance before, besides the background rainbow, there where 3 rainbows directly above her, seeming to be an actual part of her aura https://youtu.be/-k6X_nHjwnI?t=154

and yume's glow before she got her aura in her solo performance (when she went all 2d for a second) seems like a indicator for when the special power takes over

(also none of these women can step to Mizuki im sorry, she would have held the top place in all 4 idol categories at once just saying)

if you want a similar show with darker elements then look into Pripara and Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live. l honestly don't think will go that route. but the original aikatsu had some surprising turns so we'll see

Koharu is basically what I first thought Sumire would be in the first series. I bet she's a real knockout when those glasses come off.

An abrasive rival, gossiping girls & a threat of expulsion by the headmaster? Stars definitely feels more dramatic than the first series. It's definitely not as campy and "let's all get along." That said, I really do like how creative it's being, particularly with the presentation of each of the S4 classes.

I dropped Aikatsu, and now I'm dropping Aikatsu Stars before even reaching the 11th episode. This franchise has been a bit of a disappointment for me so far. Aikatsu Friends seems to be okay so far, though. Fuck this show, though.
