After reading negative reviews I deleted Charlotte from my list. Thankfully my brother watched it and told me to do so too and I don't regret it. Weird pacing, plotholes... I don't care - this anime was surprisingly nice to watch and Yu was interesting protagonist (finally someone thinking about himself a bit). For me it's easily 7 or 8 points.

That would be "Sinking Ships." It will be included in ZHIEND's second album, which is releasing on October 14.

And thus Peter Pan came to this world! He probably had stolen an anti-ageing power too.

*sigh* It was hard to watch. If I could split this show in two, one with all bad aspects and another with all good ones, it would make one awful and one awesome anime. Everything together was hard to take seriously, as all positive about it was trampled by all wtf moments.

Opening would, of course, belong to awesome part.

Quite lovely finish if you ask me! I really liked how they wrapped things up like that, his journey was just great and the coming back to everyone was just too lovely!

All in all quite a good anime if you ask me, I did sometimes question some parts but in the end all really flowed together properly!

Wow the op was like
really good
would replay that again
actually i replay it almost everyday
oh, the anime?
well the anime..
it didn't end too good..it felt too fast for me, plus no kiss all we get is nao making emotions, besides the plotholes and maybe some dumb decisions, i feel like the part where he decided not cure his eye was the dumbest part, like, if you don't want time travel and save yourself from having amnesia and other 1000 things at least just cure your eye it's not like that will make someone get hurt
and so, no kiss..
no kiss..
kiss..

and i tough angel beats was weird.

TO summarize my experience i would say: alot of moments and scenes of the anime before the part where he starts to meet his brother and where we learn of the time travelling thing were overall good but the ending wasn't satisfying.

Actually, the ending song is called Kimi no Moji.

The text above Sinking Ships says "sounyuu uta," or "insert song."
The text above Kimi no Moji says "endingu teima," or "ending theme."

The title: Kimi no Moji makes more sense for the ending song than "Sinking Ships," as it means "Your Writing." In the ending song, it takes the perspective of Yuu and it gradually depicts his memory loss. The final few lines of the song are "There is one thing that I know. This handwriting is yours."

Not to mention that the VisualArts Japan Youtube channel uploaded the/part of the ending song, which is titled Kimi no Moji.

The engrish in this episode killed me.

Anyway, the pacing of this episode was too fucking fast, and awkward. He was able to dodge or resist all kinds of explosives and bullets but took an arrow to the knee anyway, wtf. Then suddenly there was his brother to the rescue (in a helicopter yo).

Plus, the hospital scene was very weird. I know he has an amnesia, but a huge personality change? Ohhh my god, are you still Yuu?

Well fuck what I thought to be a normal high school anime turned out to be an emotional rollercoaster of an anime. Whilst I cannot say that I cried waterfalls I did get hit in the heart by this. This is about the first time an anime from the summer season has caused me pain when it ends, this last episode was well done. It gave me the memory's about the old Yu when he went insane. It rekindled the love between Yu Otosaka and Nao Tomori.
I guess I can blame Jun Maeda or w/e he's called for that. This surely was one hell of a ride, I gotta thank him for all of this. A final rating of 9/10 would suffice, merely because of the sadness, love and despair.

What an ass-pull right there. How in heaven's name did his brother find him? Don't tell me that little girl was able to call help and his brother just convieniently flew from Japan to China with a Poice Heli...
And why the hell didn't he die. It was perfectly placed so that he, after collecting all the abilites would die with them so they would dissapear from the world.

This anime would have been absolutely fantastic if it was a 2 cour or even 3 cour instead. Charlotte had a HUGE amount of potential.

I was not too bothered by the quick pace at first because I thought it was doing a fine job at balancing everything (though a couple of extra episodes spent on things such as Yuu's grief, the time travel business and the new characters introduced would have been great) BUT The last 2 episodes... :(

Episode 13 was definitely an entire cour of material squished together. It wouldn't have been so bad if it was not for the rushed bullshit: Yuu going insane (there was no time for it and it was not done well), forgetting Nao (the way they did it was just pointless as it wasn't emotional and it didn't add anything to the finale other than fuck up Yuu's character. It was just 'who are you?' 'I'm your lover' 'Cool, sorry I don't remember you'), being attacked by that random guy and being helped by the courage girl and then his brother magically finding him in time...

There were so many other endings which would have wrapped up Charlotte better...

I'm still giving Charlotte 8/10 because I did enjoy it despite it not fulfilling its potential. There was just too much ambition, sometimes it is better to hold back.

In general, I enjoyed the episode. It was pretty cool seeing Yuu using all those powers. It was a bit lacking as far as the near-tragedy-ending though. Do they really think they will be left alone in peace after all that?... really? It's not like Yuu can do anything anymore (it's pretty clear he grew out of his powers).

So... 4/10 overall. Once the plot started to collapse in on itself, that was basically it. Though I have to say, I never could have guessed the direction this show would take.

I thought it was entertaining seeing Yuu using all his acquired abilities and going back to "Lelouch" mode again for a bit.

But I feel the pacing was far too fast and everything seemed to resolve too quickly. There are also a lot of plotholes that can't be overlooked. This might've been nicer as a two-cour series in general.

welp, somehow P.A. Works managed to pull of another Angel Beats.
Guess they don't learn from their mistakes.

This would've been twice as amazing if they would've just made it longer and allowed for more plot.

Still, the ending is some what satisfying since it was great to see them all together.

What if I told you, your opinion counts for less than a piece of shit.

I rate this show based on the incoherent crap that it is, and the load of unexplained plot holes that the director didn't bother to fill in, as well as the waste of episodes and alternate timeline plot that they just HAD to put in there but overall didn't make sense and didn't work.

Wonder what YOUR opinion on this show is? Or maybe you don't have an actual brain to think up opinions and can just use stupid memes to express your "feelings".

He had a healing ability he never used? WTF... he should have just used it and time leaped then go with the same plan they came up with later or he could at least have used the ability to heal himself and his brother at the end. Maybe it could have even healed his mind that is all jacked up from having all those abilities.

Rest was wasted potential, forced drama, rushed resolutions to plot lines, and just all around random shit. A real, real shame.

What can I say about this anime? Eh, nothing really good. Too much unexplained things(one is why he still had his memories), boring characters' desing, and in that last episode I was like "seriously whole world?..." for the whole time =). Wasted potiental is strong with this one ;p. Of course it is just my opinion.

(I actually watched the last episode two weeks ago but I didn't have any time to comment until now.)

This anime had a lot of potential. In the first three episodes, I thought I was going to love it. I was laughing and interested and yeah, I thought it was great. I didn't have a problem with the slice-of-life stuff in the first six episodes. It started going downhill slowly, I started noticing it in the earlier episodes, but then by episode eight I could tell that it was going to have a lot of flaws. The episodes after only confirmed that feeling.

So many plotholes...but the biggest by far was Yuu remembering the other timeline. Sure, it would be weird and a little suspicious if, say, he remembered the stuff the memory kid wiped from his mind. But "remembering" something from another timeline? How could he "remember" something that literally. did. not. happen. for. him? His brother went back in time, which means that he changed the world and that stuff in the labs did not happen. Which meant that for Yuu, it never happened. You can't remember something that didn't happen!

Also, we never did know what happened to Nao's brother after Yuu went back in time but somehow it seems that he met Sara. And we don't know how Yuu knew what had happened to make Ayumi freak out when she died and also know the girl who caused it. And we're not really clear on the details of why exactly those girls beat up Nao so harshly. Yeah, she's disliked, but that's it? Not to mention when Nao said she was with Yuu the whole time in episode 7. So...no one noticed this girl with him all the time? And then of course the tiny little details that I don't have the motivation to type out at the moment.

The pacing and the sudden switching of atmospheres weren't done well...at all. It's really hard to get into a series that does that. The first time it happened, when Ayumi died and Yuu went into depression, that was acceptable. It's normal for an anime to suddenly get serious. But then it very quickly got light-hearted again...and then suddenly got dark again...and then once again light-hearted...and then the last episode went from pretty light-hearted, to very suddenly dark, to light-hearted all over again. Why would they make the first six episodes slice of life if they were planning to do all this other stuff? Why did they make all of episode 7 focus on how badly Yuu was dealing with Ayumi's death if all he needed was an omelette and in the end that never happened anyway? I saw a lot of people saying that this anime needed more than 13 episodes, but that's not the case here at all. They just didn't use those 13 episodes well.

Finally, the characters. I honestly didn't really like any of them, except for maybe Misa and she barely showed up. I didn't feel much depth or personality from any of them, they made a lot of nonsensical decisions, had pretty unrealistic reactions to stuff, etc. And as for the emotional parts in the series, well, I didn't really feel anything :/ You could tell something was supposed to be sad, but I personally did not feel moved. And this is coming from a person who actually gets emotionally moved pretty easily. The ending was fine, but with how the rest of the series went it just didn't fit.

I could go on, but I'm getting tired of typing and this comment is getting super long anyway.

Point being, I considered giving this a 6/10, but after reflecting on it I really can't give it more than a 5/10. It's really a pity since there was a lot of potential here, but ultimately I think it unfortunately failed to deliver.

I enjoyed this anime, but the romance and how he saved the whole world in one episode was a bit disappointing for me... could been a lot better if they had more episodes, not just finishing like that, since in episode 12, when they promised they will be lovers when he got back, Tomori didn't really seem like she was in love, but in episode 13 she got all emotional and stuff.

To me, it seemed a little bit rushed in a sense.

Just something I noticed....

Exactly. This idea of stealing the power of the entire World was pretty silly imo... It was obvious that this would go extremely wrong. Despite that, the story was really good! If not for that ending plot, I would have given 9/10, but 8/10 is good enough.

Show would have been so much better if they didn't devote so much time at the beginning to single episode plot lines.

Then they wouldn't have needed to rush so much.
