What's so disappointing about the art?

I'm actually positively surprised by the art

It was ok but really cliche. Does every sports anime's first episode have to end with the main character in a one on one challenge to prove his brilliance?

I'll keep watching it because I love sports anime and it's better than Kuroko's Basketball so far but unless it gets way better fast,I expect this to end in the 6-7/10 range for me.

Not only Hajime no Ippo and Kuroko no Basket (sports) this season for me now,

Ace of Diamand really caught me of guard and I really love the upbeat vibe of it. I find it really cool how they have a female on their team and how passionate the main character and his friends are. This is going to be a surprisingly fun-bonus watch for me as this is my first dive into the series (unlike Ippo/Kuroko), and surprisingly, my first baseball anime too! (Never read manga either).

When Eijun said that "it's more fun to play baseball than watching on tv" i gotta give respect to the guy a lot of people now a days pretend to know everything about baseball without touching a bat or a ball in there life.

Nice first episode! The art style is just up my alley. I'm not much of a sports anime fan, but I think I will like this one.

Someone mentioned that the MC looks like Eren from SnK, yeah I thought so as well.

Looks fine and good. I was curious about Production I.G/Madhouse collaboration and have to admit that it seems recently familiar :))

It has nice vibes, though. (The first season of Major caught me off guard with dem fees ;_ ; ).

Man especially after Free last season that felt so right by sports anime. Really good start and I can easily see it keeping up with the strong cast, and great overall production in general. Too bad it's probably destined to fly under the radar this season.

The art is as good as the manga's, or I'd say it's even better. That's exactly what I was hoping for.

Liked the episode, the comedy was pretty well-done. Sometimes such comedy can be really fucked up if it got in the wrong hands, but the staff did a pretty good job on it.

Nice. This sports anime is full of guts... and also an older style animation. I like it. My first baseball anime too!

The main character is a hothead, but not the annoying type, I love how he made fun of everybody that doesn't have respect for baseball.

Such a way to end the episode, it should have ended having him pitch at least! Will wait for more episodes.

Love it already, as good as expected with Madhouse adapting a highly praised sports manga(had a Chihayafuru-ish atmosphere, maybe just because Eijun sucks at school)

Eijun reminded me of Xin from Kingdom more than Eren. He's definitely going to be a fun MC.

I have never played a game of baseball in my life despite being raised in the US but it seems like this game is a big deal over in Japan, never heard of recruits coming over to middle schools to recruit for a high school.

I laughed at that belly bump the huge batter dude gave the MC, he just got told he was fat so he comes over and slams the guy with his belly further proving the point. I mean of all the things he could have done he chooses that. Wisely though Eijin doesn't retaliate cause that guy is twice his size.

Seems like Eijin is going to have to choose between his friends and their promises to go to nationals together or the school that can practically carry him there. I haven't read the manga so will be interesting to see what he chooses, more interesting if he goes with this new school in my opinion cause that would surely cause some drama, though I doubt he will do that.

Man lot's of people comparing Dia no Ace w/ popular baseball titles like Major, One Outs and Cross Game. This isn't entirely fair for the series as a whole since it guarantees a lot of biased views that do not judge the series on it's own merits but compare it to other series w/c have different strengths and unique flavors of their own.

Let me put a disclaimer then. Dia no Ace isn't remotely like One Outs or Major. For one it isn't psychological. Nor does the story revolve on the main character most of the time. It's more of a team based series and each of the team members have their moments. Seidou is a powerhouse team and not some underdog trying to one up other top schools. They need to deal w/ a different kind of pressure. Namely that of the overwhelming expectations placed on them by the school management and the general public. Sawamura doesn't contribute much at the start of the series. He trains to improve his weaknesses but he doesn't turn into a powerhouse overnight. Some might be turned off by this and complain that the MC isn't BA enough. But it's more of seeing the entire team develop from the members point of view rather than the story focusing on the MC alone. If you don't like these aspects then I wouldn't recommend trying to watch Dia no Ace and then complaining afterwards.

MC seems to much like a retard but it was funny as hell when he was like: you going pro? LOL you have nothing but a huge beer gut! I don't mind serious to comedy. But the most of the comedy was stupid slap stick. MC has heart in right place. Will give to epd 4.

Ahaha, I adored it (maybe because I was on a high after seeing Major and Oofuri). Having read the manga, I think this will be great. Eijun is a very interesting character and well, I can't wait for the next episode.

Agreed. Daiya no A focuses more on the team rather than the main character himself (in Major, it's kind of definite that Gorou is the one who is moving through this mostly by himself) and I think it's really refreshing. Comparing it to One Outs is a little strange since the latter is mostly psychological and involves Toua owning someone literally every episode.

It was okay. Art style is nothing special and the characters look kinda stupid. MC is a typical shounen character. The opening is nice.

But I like sports anime, so I will see how it turn outs. Art style is not that important for a sport anime, in my opinion.

By the end of the episode I found myself interested in what was happening and got drawn into it enough to look forward to episode 2. How dare they include a cliff hanger? So mean! heheheh

This episode sucked so bad I'm surprised I managed to watch it to the end. Maybe I was biased as a super baseball fan who's trying it out in animes recently (not really a sports anime fan) seeing as how clichéd and stupid it was.

Oh well... guess I'll be patient and watch a couple more episodes, it was kinda funny so maybe it will work out.

The characters kind of resembled chimps. The first 8 minutes were particularly cliched and painful to watch. This feels like your typical shounen series. And for some reason, the female coach's breasts didn't suit her.

First time watching an anime like this (I guess, sports... themed?) because I actually enjoy baseball and honestly because one of the characters apparently looks like an idol I like. I couldn't seem to focus on this episode, but I'm not going to drop it. Maybe sports anime just really aren't my thing, haha. I like the animation style though.

I surprisingly liked this episode more than I thought I would. The main character is hilarious and well outspoken. I love those quality. The atmosphere of the anime seems great and overall just filled me with enjoyment. So far, so good. lets see where this goes.
