I like to imagine I've been here long enough to understand all this place's chinks and quirks, so today I'll give you all a small agglomeration of stuff you may or may not already know and I'll leave the more practical tips and tricks to everyone else. Plz nothing that might get you banned though.
1. You can actually watch an unlimited number of topics once you reach the maximum (300). This happens because the server still automatically watches the threads you make, but the downside is that you can only watch the threads you make from here on. Best part is that this isn't even a glitch or abuse, it just does it by itself or I probably wouldn't list this here lol. If anyone knows more about this, plz tell me since I miss watching dank topics on CD.
2. You can tell if either you added someone as a friend, or if they added you. If you go to the still existing Friends tab, you'll see a variety of boxes with friends probably. The boxes with detailed info on when you became friends and at what time are people that you added as friends, while the boxes that only have the last time they were online are friends that added you instead.
3. None of you will probably care about this one, but when submitting official MAL anime/manga recommendations, the way they're organized in your Recommendations tab (If you liked ... then you might like) isn't based off the anime entry you decided to write on, but on whichever anime was first registered onto the MAL databases. So if I recommended Yosuga no Sora because (you) liked Kiss x Sis, Kiss x Sis would always be on the left in the "If you liked" column since it aired before Yosuga no Sora did.
4. See an anime list layout you like? You can "borrow" it by right clicking on their anime list and selecting "view source code". From here, you just copy everything that comes after the HTML code "text/css">" towards the top, and copy all the way down to the next ">style<" , basically until the HTML code starts again. Then just paste everything onto your CSS code box in Advanced CSS List Design under settings. And no, I made significant changes to my own list to make it my own, thank you very much.
5. Eh. Most of you probably already know but there's a website called MALgraph that you can do a lot more than just rip your anime and manga chart from. You can view your favorite anime, anime studios, genres, etc. in descending order, but based off your raw numbers so your actual opinions may vary. It's also still infinitely better than the ugly stat graphs we got in the latest profile update, so I still have my anime graph pasted in my about me.
And this isn't a dick size competition, so I don't really care if you already knew everything. If you've been here a while you should anyway. I know there's scripts that you can do a lot with too, but I'll let you guys have at the details if you want.
But now you guys can tell us the little tips and tricks you've accumulated over the course of your time here. Seriously, tell Protaku some stuff since he's a curious little badger. It can be anything like advice on how to handle the forums and people in general or stuff like I stated above. Now hop to it before this thread gets locked for some reason.
TL;DR. Give us MAL advice and tips. |
