| I've seen some hater filled threads believe and this really isn't that hater filled so much as there's the odd comment about it being gay and some constructive criticism. Either the haters just aren't trying or this show just really isn't getting a whole lot of hate commentary yet period. Then again maybe the curiously present mod warning scared people all off or those comments have been made at some point but are being deleted as we speak. Still really don't get that by the way. Not that I think it's the wrong approach, just never seen that for any first episode of a series on MAL before. In fact as far as I knew this forum is largely un-moderated like 4chan. |
| Patiently waiting for Glasses-kun, because he'll be the best Free! First impression of the Show: Uh.. I think its pretty generic. Its kind of Kuroko no Basket pressed into swimming, which is not a bad thing at all, if they do it correctly. |

After pondering this for a while I think it's just the fact that it's a Kyoto Animation and 4chan has all but said as much that they want to make a shit storm out of this show in the worst way possible. I mean I hope it's just precaution cause of forewarning and not a clear bias on the part of the mod staff to safeguard certain shows over others cause that would be kind of bullshit. |
Almost had a heart attack from that because it reminded me of Kyousuke from LB! /cries But honestly, it was better than I thought this would end out on the first episode. |

| Nothing spectacular so far, but I enjoyed it. Good pacing and very nice animation. Not fond of the soundtrack, though. I found it more jarring than anything. |

| Upon a rewatch, I still don't hate it. How weird. It wasn't great though, to be honest the only characters I like are Rin and his sister. The other three are pretty flat and boring right now. |

| my watch or not to watch will depend on which route this takes, will it be an intense and competetive sport series with this jokes?, then i think i will enjoy it. But if they focuses entirely on the women audience i will probably drop it. |

| Quite entertaining! I really dig that water animation, it looked wonderful. Haruka is such a case, though. But he made laugh everytime he started stripping at the mention of a pool. I was really expecting this, and so far it didn't dissapoint. |

| I liked the episode. It was far from horrible to say the least. But one thing. Aren't all these characters recycled KyoAni archetypes? Makoto seems like the motherly character, Nagisa the mischievious/childish type, Rin the always fired up rival, and Haruka the usually indifferent and somewhat eccentric main character. |

| I found the guys to be surprisingly endearing, and it was fun to watch them just hang out. Also, ladies, I'm pretty sure you can get Haru to do "anything" if you've got a pool ;D |
| I love how the ending totally gives away which stroke the boys specialize in. Totally awesome and creative. ;D Especially the freestyle and breaststroke part. xD That aside, I feared this show would turn out to be a total yaoi feast (not trying to insult anyone. It's just not my preference). Even though it's too early to tell, I'm really happy with how Free! has turned out. As a swimmer, I wonder if the anime will be more serious on the swimming aspect not as fodder (well, so far the anime is treating the sport fairly well). And if we are going to get more serious on the swimming part, are they going to make Haruka learn more strokes? Because so far we're told he only does freestyle right? If he goes back to competitive swimming, that'll be a problem since freestyle is arguably the easiest stroke and~well. Whatever. Hope this anime will continue as well as how it has started~ (: Gambatte, Free! |
