Well, the preview doesn't tell us the whole show. It's highly unlikely though, just a funny thought.

Wow, all the guys here saying because it's guys hanging out it has to be gay. It doesn't particularly interest me either, but please get your heads out of your asses.

It's a case of double standards:
Anime with all-female (or primarily female) main cast = Z0MG YURIIZZ!!!!!1111 XD
Anime with all-male (or primarily male) main cast = Z0MG GAYS AND FUJOSHIS!!!!!

^ That seems to be a common attitude.

All the guys in our badminton varsity team back in college were homosexuals. They even tried to sneak some mini-skirts of the girls' uniforms for them to wear during practice sessions. Funny times.

I would not mind a homosexual badminton anime by Kyoani. Yuri or Yaoi.

I've heard of Kyoani anime splitting people across moe lines before but this may be the first time they end up splitting a fanbase across gender lines too. Boys be nice to the girls, girls be nice to the boys. Everyone just play nice. :p

No seriously though this is probably the most trolling I've ever seen over a Kyoani anime announcement. Usually it's greeted with nothing but hype and positive talk. New territory for the studio indeed.

Lord, just looking at this thread, I'm imagining how it would be if KyoAni gave those boys some girlfriends, hahahaha.

Imagine if they gave the girls of K-ON boyfriends. Oh wait, otaku will go crazy with rage. hahahaha

One thing that particularly caught my eyes is how all the names of the character are neutral in gender. Makoto, Haruka, Rei, Nagisa and Rin all can be both male and female names. Very intriguing.

Same here, but I didn't actually know they were neutral so I was quite creeped out by the naming at first. It's still weird though :D

Not gonna watch, but I find it an interesting idea after all that KyoAni made nowadays. I like how they want to do something aimed at girls (mainly?).

Didn't need you to tell me that genius. But at first impression if I saw a guy acting all girly and cute then i'd think that they're possibly gay.

Lets analyze for a minute.
We have a group of energetic and attractive young men who happened to be athletes with healthy bodies+They also happened to be friends+showed no sexual activity whatsoever in the PV=GAY!
Are all the boys in your school sports team gay?
Those aren't the qualities that made me think they're gay. I'm more than happy for males to have good healthy bodies, be friends, do sports and w.e. But wtf is it with flinging their hair about and doing all the other cringe shit.

I laugh at the people who always rage when something for the fujoshi and other girls is announced.

And of course this is gonna be some yaoi. Expect a major gangbang shower scene from this show.

Sad but all too true for many watchers around here and perhaps the general fandom as a whole... I am a yuri fan through and through and of course I pick up "obvious" yuri theme even though the anime is seldom explicitly yuri. The same would apply to an all-male main cast. The unfortunate thing is homophobia dies hard among many people.
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Dude. We've had just one PV so far. I didn't see any of the characters doing gay things.
People's hidden yaoi fear will start rearing its head straight away regardless if any actual gay things are done or not.

I think it would be implied as such by the producer anyways to get people talking --> increase awareness. I am not expecting any actual Yaoi here, just teasing BL is enough for this to sell plenty. KyoAni is pretty conservative in their SOL, real gay relationship is unlikely to happen

The sad thing is it doesn't necessarily make the show bad, Tsuritama for example was a great show.

I don't know where people get the idea that this is some "gay shit", seriously, this is another NichiBros/Tsuritama, etc revolved around swimming, and the japanese aren't even hyped for it or overeacting as the westerners are (except some KyoAni fans being disappointed and sht).

This new show is apparently based on one of the honorable mentions for a KyoAni award. It's probably going to be a very loose adaptation like Chuuni.

KyoAni likes pandering, so most of us are already expecting them to use that ability in this show, and which one will most likely to eat the bait? Fujoshi audience. You just have to look at the mood the PV and trailer give us.

Probably because of the all-male cast. As a kyoani fan, I don't think there will be a gay thingy in this. KyoAni would never do that.

Some of the KyoAni fans are probably disappointed because they thought the latest project would be KnK ( Kyōkai no Kanata ), personally I prefer that but I'm not disappointed. Also there's the ones who are always hoping for a sequel of K-ON, Chuu2, Haruhi and FMP. I can't blame them.

Yea I honestly didn't even know it was.

It seems nowadays we just need to look at what gets an honorable mention for the KyoAni awards to find out what their future projects are.

That's just the mindset of some western fans.
most KyoAni fans in japan are disappointed because this is getting an anime, looks like the foreign fandom's petition actually worked, but will they BUY the BD/DVDs? that i doubt.

Does KyoAni like pandering in particular? If so why not every work it makes sells a lot? Also you mustn't forget that female audience is NOT equal to fujoshi audience. If anything fujoshi only makes up a minority of female audience.

Well, those "KyoAni fans" you read about are almost all male fans. The success of this anime may probably rest on whether it will get the female fans to buy, not how much it appeals to the male fans.

Apparently, since KyoAni's fanbase is mostly male, from what i've read and seen, they consider this some kind of "betrayal" (lol), but yeah, it's all about wether or not they get female fans or the Westerners who started the whole thing to actually buy the DVDs/BDs, and in all honesty, this kind of artstyle that's used usually for the "moe sliceoflife" doesn't look like something that appeals to the female fans, of course that applies only to the japanese, see'ing as most of the hype comes from foreign fans.

As I said, the fans are hoping for one. The movie was awesome and all but I don't see why would you call that an end. There's still the college arc in the Manga so KyoAni could make an another season with some additional content. The question though is whether will they do it or not. Personally, I see some light to it.
