It's really over... All demons suddenly deciding not to bother humans sounds a little fishy, but okay. Besides that, it was a nice ending overall. This was a pretty enjoyable series. The first arc was great, but once it settled into its battle shonen ways it grew very cliche and dull. However, the show definitely improved as time went on. I personally think it hit its stride during the Chapter Black arc. The final arc was indeed rushed but started out well, had some interesting themes, and provided proper closure for the main characters nonetheless. The setting was interesting and the main cast was quite entertaining. Not one of my favorite shonen, but it was a fun ride. 7/10 |

Brilliant ending to a brilliant series, I would have liked a better final arc though, I hated the exclusion of Kuwabara and how underwhelming the arc actually is compared to the previous arcs as well the unresolved plot line of Hiei revealing to Yukina that he is her brother, also what was Yusuke doing the last 2 years? But regardless of all that this series is amazing! Episode: 10/10 Series: 9/10 |

Never saw this anime in my childhood and I'm happy I watched it.While the story is not that special but still better than Dragon ball z and since the fights are well done the anime stay very enjoyable. 8/10. |

It's over!!! It's finally over!! I can't believe I've made it to the other side. I started this 471 days ago and I just can't be happier that I finally finished this garbage. I've never been such a minority with my opinion of an anime before. Of the 103k ratings this has only 137 of them are a 1/10 and I'm proud to say that I'll be the 138th! This has been my ultimate challenge as a brave and courageous no dropper! Nothing frightens me anymore now that I've beaten my powerful and mighty foe Yuu Yuu Hakusho. Today... today was a good day. 1/10 |

It's been a while since I've seen a show I enjoyed this much. Brilliant characterization and some of the best direction I've seen in an anime, especially during the fight scenes. It got a tad rushed in the final arc but it's now one of my favourites nonetheless. That last scene on the beach really got me. :') |

Forever Yu Yu Hakusho. <3 Happy finale for everyone. :D Great show overall, it's a shame that the Three Kings arc couldn't be developed further since I really loved it, but apart form that great series overall. I probably would have rated this higher if I had seen it back when I was kid, unfortunately this was the only show I couldn't watch back in my childhood. 8/10 |

Meh, how people think this is the true magnum opus from Yoshihiro Togashi is beyond me. Sure it's better than a lot of the other shit long running series like DBZ, One Piece, Fairy Tail, Bleach, Naruto, Katekyo Hitman Reborn and Toriko. But wtf? it's like Togashi didn't give a shit about the series towards the end. I don't blame him, the power system was weak and inconsistent, the characters had very simple and personalities and the story was predictable AF (besides the ending ofc, because Togashi just rushed the hell out of that) It's certainly not as bad as most of the other long running shit out there but damn no where close to being as good as HxH. 5/10 |

What an ending. I don't know how to feel, I'll miss this show, but I'm also glad I'm done with it. I loved the spirit water gun Yusuke shot at Kuwabara. If anything, I will remember this cast for a long time to come, fantastic four main characters. For an overview on my opinions of each arc:(since I wrote an essay i will spoiler tag it) Spirit Detective arc: Horrible section of the show, by far the worst. Every event that occurred felt ridiculously arbitrary, everything was a non sequitur. You died, so let's first see if people want you back, then make you care for an egg, then make you get a kiss but if you don't you're dead forever. Following up this jumbled mess with some horrible introductions of Hiei and Kurama led for a really poor start for the show. The fights were at best mediocre and at worst, a handful of the worst in the show(with the exception of Kuwabara's). Honorable mentions to Kuwabara being the only character worth watching during most of this arc & the dynamic of the four together still being a fun watch. Dark Tournament: Here is where the series started to shine, at least with the characters. Hence the name, this tournament was fight after fight after fight. The bad part is the fights were often based off fake stakes, fake hype and asspulls(see my post here). Some fights were really cool like Bui, or Chu, or Rinku, or Karasu to an extent, but almost every other fight ranged from almost okay to offensive to the viewer. The good part of this section however, was the fact that these fights were used to strengthen our understanding of our cast as it explored them and developed their relationships together. So, despite the fights being abysmal most of the time, the cast itself made this very watchable and even enjoyable. As I stated at the top of this post, after the first arc at least, the main cast of this show is memorable and great. My only gripe with the actual cast(as in not the fake stakes, or asspulls involving them) is the sudden development to fighting maniac goku jr Yusuke had in this arc. Easy 6/10, sadly even though the cast was strong, the main focus of this arc was fights which were poorly constructed. Chapter Black: The best arc by far, I would recommend it to everyone as a strong 7/10 with it's naturally occurring, character driven plot based on planning and finding leads, with fights that, for one of the first times in the show, are based off of smarts and outplaying your opponents and not just being the main characters. That is, until the seven personalities are introduced to our antagonist Sensui. I firmly believe, based off both what I said above, and based on the great characters developed up until this point, episodes 67-85 is the best point in the series. But this isn't the end of the arc, not at all, episodes 86-93 are entirely full of asspulls, and revert everything that this arc did well up to this point. You can see me complain about it in the same post above. This section would be a possible 4/10. That is 18 of the best episodes and 7 of the worst in the series. So to be fair, only 28 percent off this arc is bad, but that's enough to not be overlookable, making this arc a sad 6/10. I think Togashi really struggles with final fights. Three Kings: The arc with the best ideas, which ends up being by far the most rushed. The characters are great, the fights are the best in the series(apart from early chapter black perhaps), the excitement of the storytelling of Chapter Black is back, but it quickly fades because of the pacing. This arc's start is filled with backstory and flashbacks that it never cared to show us before this in the slightest. They were good stories, and cool backstories but that doesn't mean I don't think it would of been better done without all of the exposition. Next, Yusuke has a meeting with Yomi in a scene filled with intensity, Kurama's men waiting ready to strike, and what happens, another tournament arc gets planned. Everyone drops their armies and agrees absurdly quick to compete instead. Now instead of an epic war arc, we have a rushed tournament, something that we've already scene twice in this show. The ideas in the tournament are great, such as the emotional breakthrough of Hiei and Mukuro, or the final Yusuke vs Yomi fight, but these weren't built up at all. In fact we first hear about Mukuro's shackle right before the fight, only to see it shatter at the end. For example, imagine if this arc was stretched out and instead of this, we had a scene in the preparation of the war where Mukuro told Hiei her past. This would be much more impactful. Same goes for when Yomi goes in on Yusuke for asking what he is fighting for(despite this also coming out of nowhere), and Yomi starts saying he's dropped everything to fight in this tournament bla bla bla. That happened in like an episode due to the pacing and Yomi has changed to an entirely different character off screen in that time. My point is, this arc is filled with flashbacks, time skips and good ideas that don't have enough time to be executed properly. Even though the conclusion of our main characters arcs, Hiei and Kurama, come out of absolutely nowhere and are done as soon as possible at the very end, just to end the show on a good note, they were still well done. If only they had more time and started these developments more than 10 episodes before the finale. Yet again a hesitant 6/10. This show has flaws, major flaws, but I really did enjoy the ride. Yusuke, Kuwabara, Kurama and Hiei all grew on me immensely and I love their relationships with each other by the end. The strongest part of this show is by far the cast, they are simple, yet memorable and strong. And I would still recommend this show to anyone who wanted a cast that would leave a lasting impression on them. Sadly, almost everything else falls apart at times and is almost never well constructed. Fights, storytelling, everything. As much as I'd like to rate this show higher, I'm going to end on a 6/10. |

Fantastic ending to a series that just kept getting better and better. As rushed as the final arc was, the conclusion to the series was just so satisfying for all of the characters, that I can't complain at all. 9/10. A new [old] favorite. ♥ |

I'm just gonna quote you because this is what I was thinking the whole time and couldn't say it better. Also, I didn't like the "meaningless" deaths either. When Genkai was resurrected I was pretty much disappointed. Same with Kuwabara, that "he didn't touch any of my vital points" was bullshit lol In the end I pretty much binge watched this and I can say I really enjoyed it and got attached to some characters despite its flaws and cliches. |

Glad I finished this. I was pretty stupid a couple years ago to always change the channel when this popped up on Adult Swim.. Was quite a shame the author follows the whole "main cast can't ever die ever" cliche. As only my third anime I've ever watched I can really appreciate the impact it left on me. |

I've watched this series two times through now and I still love it. The characters fit together great, a lot of cool side characters as well. (especially from the DT and just before) and a pretty nice built world. I just wish this was so rushed at the end. Demon world was ascribed to being this huge multiverse like/size place, and they even had the main character spend 3 years there. (two of which just wondering) It always felt like this should have been at least another season longer. But despite that, what a great ending! Epilogue endings are the best for stories like this. (hell,.. today, any ending at all seems good with the fad of "open" (i.e. unfinished) endings/stories we have now.. trash.) I'm probably going to watch it again after i'm done with his current series.. wash the taste out.. blah. Spirit Detective arc: 8.5 Dark Tournament: 10 Chapter Black: 8.0 Three Kings: 9.5 Overall: 9.5 Ending: 10 But it still makes me wonder to this day why this got rushed (shafted) to an ending when he was working on two different series. Haven seen enough of both, it's pretty safe to say that nothing of value would have been lost in rushing his other series instead. Bayek said: And thus Togashi was inspired to fill Hunter x Hunter with traps. It's really good to get these epilogue endings, there was a huge sense of closure that came with it. ugh.. only the start of the problems there.. The ones that aren't traps are either monsters (literal and not) or, much much more likely (especially earlier on.. first half) dead! I mean.. just.. at first it just seemed like part of it's over the top edgelord nature (people calling it 'edge x edge' lol) but.. Agree 100% about the epilogue endings! |

That was a rushed return by Yusuke, I wish they would've made him come back after a long time all grown ( now that would've been cool and romantic). The last arc "Demon realm tournament" sucked for me, all the previous arcs especially the dark tournament were great. After the Sensui arc things started to go haywire for the show, in fact let me say when they pulled "Yusuke's true origin" and came back to life as a demon. The demon realm tournament was rushed and stupid, but most of all he lost and they didn't show it to us. What killed me the most was that they made a completely irrelevant character to win. It was almost like the writer was tired of the series and just wanted to wrap it up with an empty romance and the most popular segment the "Tournament". Where is the marriage he promised Keiko and what happened to the order of Enma to annihilate him? It was all bad writing even on the antagonists, they all were good guys who all just were dying to Fight, especially fighting strong opponents. Toguro was the better antagonist than Yomi or Muguro, Sensui tried but eh! Badly written show, but targeted at people who just want a fighting superpower anime with no plot whatsoever like Dragonball and Bleach. So many things were wrong about the show I could write a bible. But on the flip side the characters were lovable except Shizuru whom I didn't get her purpose there even if she's Kuwabara's sister, she was older than them and Yukina should've been the main instead. 6/10. |

The girls mistaking Kurama for a girl haha, not really a surprise though, I mistook him for a girl too at first... Keiko grew up so much, she's like a completely different person! Good ending. It really wrapped things up between the whole team, and I loved seeing Kuwabara again. Everything in this episode looked good too. I feel like the reunion of Keiko and Yusuke could have used more depth if I want to get more nit-picky, but this was a good ending. |

Despite its flaws, Yu Yu Hakusho is still, in my mind, one of the greats. Enduring characters, great fights, wonderful moments and interactions, sick character design, impressive animation (especially during the middle two arcs)... I could go on and on. However, I'll just say this: I loved this series so much that I bought a Yu Yu Hakusho tank top, and I wore it while I watched the final episodes. I never thought a show would be so special to me that it would cause me to do something so sentimental and saccharine, but here we are. Forever Fornever |

Finished rewatching. It's quarantine i have a lot of time and it's available on yt. Well this is really mediocre for todays standard. Togashi didnt pre-plan the story so we did see many inconsistencies. But atleast this is still better than DBZ which was more repetitive and a lot of characters became irrelevant beside Goku. Although we see many DBZ inspired elements in Togashi's work. |

I've revisited this anime dozens upon dozens of times since i was a kid, and after all these years and all the other anime i've watched, i still haven't found one with an ending that made me feel the way this one does. To me this is the perfect ending to an anime (say what you will about the pace of the last arc), and my favorite ending to almost any piece of media. I've brought up YYH to quite a few people in the last few months and it saddens me that literally no one remembers this anime, at least around me. I think i'm gonna rewatch it again soon, it's been about a year so it feels right. I like the idea of talking about this anime with other people again so i hope it happens soon. -much love |

Yeah there were some flawed and cliche moments especially when you judge a show 30 years after it came out and every other Shounen started copying it. but overall this was a pretty enjoyable show to binge especially if you don't take it seriously. The main 4 guys + Koenma and Botan are really some of the best main characters ever. and even tho some of the fights didn't age well, it was still a fun watch because of these guys. and not to mention the stuff Togashi learned from writing this is what helped him write the perfect masterpiece that is Hunter x Hunter. |

my biggest flaw these days is that i cant sit down and watch an anime longer than a few episodes without getting distracted, partly due to life, but also because of all the good content there is out there now and how much of it i want to consume. That being said hunter x hunter has been at the top of my "a bit of a long watch" list for soooooooo long, i want to watch it rrally bad so maybe I'll finally do that, ive heard that its a masterpiece so idk whats taken me so long. This interaction may be the push i needed so thank you! |

great ending with great smile on my face :D keiko had been grow the be beautiful. too bad that hiei wasn't with them. and though i'm curios to know what yusuke had done in the meantime, it's not hard to guess. as for the series, it have a lot of ups and downs, but what is great about YYH is that it had great moments as Sensui's arc and the start of Yokai Realm arc and grea pace that a lot of shounen doesn't have. 9/10 edit: after some thoughts and seeing other comments, here is my little review: Spirit Detective arc: 8/10 Little slow and had some bad parts, but the first episodes and some stories were masterpiece. Dark Tournament: 7/10 Honestly for me it was the worse arc here, too much dragging boring battles, but ended really nice. Chapter Black: 9.5/10 I believe this is the best arc here, it starts in really good way and have great story all the way, great characters an really original ideas, the only thing that brings it down is the fight at the end that felt DBZ style. Three Kings: 9/10 I honestly thing this arc is divided by 2 parts - Demon realm part and Tournament part, while the first part is feeling like refreshing and developing the second part feeling a lot like the dark tournament arc, but with much more greater pace and less boring. |

My favorite part was Hiei’s picture in the paper and Kuwabara’s reaction to news that the barrier was open. I grew to like K as a character especially when him and YY were flying on Puu to the demon world to continue the fight with SS. Man K can dish it out with the best of them. There are very few anime based on manga that I like and can rewatch. Yu Yu Hakusho is one of them. I also really liked the manga as well. I don’t think a live action version of Yu Yu Hakusho anime would work. I would probably watch it. But with all the fight magic that the anime has the live action version seems like it will end up being a CGI MMA version. I really wish they would just continue the anime instead of doing a live action version. Hopefully the live action version will be as good as the Detective Conan live action version. If you saw the Dragon Ball live action movie u will probably know why a Yu Yu Hakusho live action version could be terrible. This sums up the YuYu Hakusho anime well (paraphrased) “you can’t end a good party without someone on the floor.” Yusuke Urameshi |
