This by far the weakest episode of first season. Killer was just a random psychopath soldier who's obsessed with killing in a special way.

Finally an episode that I really enjoyed. I liked the personal nature of the case and Batou is one of my favorite characters. From what I remember, the anime picks up around this point.

Lot of action. Good fucking shit I love episodes like these. Is it just me or does Bato remind me of Scar from FMAB, mostly because of their character designs and personality being a tiny bit similar

I'm really liking how these episodes shine complexity on the main characters

"Um, we only have two return tickets". Motherfucker, lol..

This show has really good dialogue, and some great banter between the characters as well.

The thing about the ending is that there's a non-zero chance CIA would just use this wretched killer again since they went to the trouble of "retrieving" him instead of killing him. So who knows whether Batou made a better or worse decision...

Best episode in the anime. Batou gets more development and focus on his character. I like that there is so much anti-Americanism that it shows that policymakers understand what is happening and I don't blame them. America drops two nuclear bombs on Japan

What a heavy episode. Batou had to relive his trauma and deal with a psycho from the past. I'm not surprised that a government would do something so messed up. I'm just very proud that Batou was able to not play into their hands and eliminate its problem for them.

Takes a hell if a lot of bravado to post the Americans as savages after what they did in WWII and then covered up. Just about as racist as an anime episode gets lol.

Experimenting on humans, the Rape of Nanjing, the fucking gall. It’s really insulting to the intelligence, but you have to comfort the suburbs somehow. Hiding from it is terrible though. At least our atrocities are known. Throwing it under a mattress becomes national malady.

You cannot progress when you hide from darkness out of fear. Rare miss but the show is old.

@DarkInsomnia57

And we have a triggered American in our midst lol. FYI the episode is based on Stranger Days and just because Japanese did atrocities during WW2 doesn2t mean they are not allowed to portray Americans in a bad light and you should learn what really racism is if you tnink this episode is actually racist. Last but not least Americans actually gave the Japans a free pass at the end of WW2 in return for sharing their data obtained from experimenting on humans but I doubt you knew that since it's not a very well known American atrocity

@JoeChip Americans didn't do the thing portrayed in the ep tho...yeah you cannot invent falsehoods so egregious and serialize it in such a manner without it becoming racist. Skinning little girls and shit?

What is Stranger Days, I tried Googling, did not find?

CIA has done some whacky things, but this is very clearly over the line in every single regard. It would be defamatory if I said the same thing about a nation and acted like they do a thing when they don't. You cannot construe the two together at all lol.

A lot has happened in defense against Marxism. Point me to the case just like this one in public record. "Atrocity" OMG so emotional in here lol.

THIS IS A FICTIONAL STORY AND IT DOES NOT CLAIM TO DEPICT REALITY IN ANY WAY, GET OVER YOURSELF ALREADY

Imagine being triggered over a fictional story with fictional characters just because they are told to be Muricans .

You snowflake Murican patriots are really sensitive when it comes to evil portrayal of your people in the screen but have no qualms about it when your fictional stories do the same to other people, gotta love the hypocrisy . And what's MArxsim got to to do anything about it I simply said atrocity because you used the word. And you do not have some list of the bad things CIA has done so far and you could only guess and would never learn the whole truth hell even the whole MKULTRA thing was never made public but only known to those who are willing to learn the dirty deeds of your beloved goverment and CIA, which you are obviously unaware of or just blissfully ignorant of. And that's just one of the things got leaked no doubt there are definitely more similar dirty laundry of CIA that we don'T know about.

You probably believe your beloved coutrry invaded Iraq in order to liberate it as well. Or USA is a philanthropist state that helps people around the world and never instigates conflicts and wars or funds terrorist groups in order to create instability in Middle East etc.

BTW, I miswrote the name of the movie it is Strange Days.

I don’t care about that, only about what is literally mentioned here. We do all that shit for sure but this episode is super egregious. Lots of things went down but this ep is pretty bad. It’s ok though because writers for this show got them old time beliefs and it’s hilarious anyways. Our military base in Yoko got dudes doing all kinds of stuff. So Im afraid I probably can’t defend that one anyways.

This is literally my favorite show of all time seen every ep read all manga watched SAC multiple times. I’m just devils advocating myself hunting against my own bias so your toxic triggering is funny to me.

I’m just hunting flaws to try to find any fault. But yeah we never did shit like this. Employ serial killers, boy that would be something. Stops being fictional once you say ‘America’ regardless. New Japanese or Chinese empire would be the same thing.

Anyways I wasn’t hunting for argument, my point is unarguable. I think the ep is a masterpiece as is the show, I’m just commenting to myself. Maybe I’m hoping I’ll find a way not to be let down by how unserious culture is now? Who knows.

I guess looking back it’s one damn great episode, but they really make us ghouls! lol, really hits after all these years. Really didn’t expect it to knock me over like this, this ep holds nothing back!

You may say it’s fictional but the world criticizes the US as routine. It’s been normalized but Japan doesn’t hold back here lol. That’s the power of GITS I guess.

Pathetic. Motoko gets to shoot diplomats in the face but Batou refuses to off a fellow war criminal. 2/10 - Horrible.

"fellow war criminal"

Imagine thinking Batou is a war criminal next time pay attention while you watch . Besides Motoko has the backing of law in her actions but Batou is basically pushed to the brink to kill the guy so the Americans won'T get their hand dirty and cover up their mess .

@JoeChip No you. Batou would be in prison if the major didn't hire him, just like that CIA guy. Wasn't Charles Manson an MKULTRA subject?

Always thought Batou looked like the type of guy who been through alot and it's really nice that his back story match his personality while showing his progress as a person.

yet its interesting how this episode aired in 2003 when the CIA were at their peak propaganda and war crimes era.
