Ubuntu. It's just more compact and efficient than Vista and I can still do everything I need to do.. although I'll admit VLC is not my favorite player.. oh well.

I do nearly everything in Windows Vista. My laptop is capable of running it very smoothly and when it does, Vista is actually a really secure little bugger. But I am also looking forward to changes and improvements. That's why I look forward to Windows 7.

You CAN either disable it, or run from your administrator account, which is what I am doing.

The thing just bugs you to no end. But even with it disabled, the OS is still miles more secure than XP. We don't have to look far for a recent example. Google is your friend if you want more. :)

Edit: Finally, I don't think it's a miracle that software is more secure. I think its a testament to the coding and programming skills of thousands of people out there. I know I am talking like I am some Microsoft Rep or something, but I am familiar with Software Engineering and the sleepless nights that usually come with it. I'm just saying sometimes we could empathize more with people, rather than blame them for something which they have allowed you to disable if you want to anyways.

Security is worth nothing nowadays anyways. A decent virus scanner, spyware scanner and a firewall (I don't use one but you can't ignore their effectiveness) is enough for any machine regardless of the OS. Also a great contribution to security on your machine is the person sitting behind it.

I'm still sticking with XP because of it's reliability and requirements with hardware. I have worked with all MS OS, and it's partially my hobby to tweak and modify them to my own requirements- and/or likings.

I think it's easier to watch anime on it. Also the sound and graphics are more clear on mine.

I think the new nVidia GPU Macbook Pros are so incredibly awesome. But they're so expensive here. But I also have a track record of hating Apple user interface... so I'll probably pass after all.

Edit: Typos.

That explains the first service pack is essentially 7 GB of bugfixes.

....another one of these guys (-_-")

I'm not making another story of this again. I'll leave you with the invitation of looking up the following keywords on google: '7GB servicepack' (or just click here)

You have no clue what you are talking about dude.

Installing the service pack will require a large amount of free disk space (7 GB for x86 and 12 GB for x64). However, most of this space will be reclaimed after installation.

Also notable, installing the OS will require 7GB of free hard drive space, though much of that will be returned to the user once the megapatch is applied.

Shouldn't you be running Vista for that? I have, for almost 2 years. Most of the service pack contents don't get applied btw.

I have had enough Vista laptops (and a couple of workstations) at my work, and one at home also. Otherwise I wouldn't draw the conclusion I like XP way better. This between the time that the conversion pack was released and this very moment.

If you are basing what OS is best upon benchmarks, you might as well go back to win95 or 98 which will for sure score better than XP.

As for the Anandtech article, it's a very good and detailed technical review of Vista. I bet you think Aero is just eye candy stuff while having no clue how it works and what it does.

Butthurt much? Anyways, DirectX9 runs my games perfectly fine, plus the DX10 hacks around (not for all games however) make WinXP my choice. If you're going to bash XP more, please care explaining why I should move to Vista first.

The benefits of such a theme doesn't move me at all. Like I said, I chose XP carefully. I wouldn't run something that doesn't fit me just because I don't like new things. Drop the act of the diehard Vista user, lol.

Care to point me where I suggested you move to Vista? Before ever getting into this discussion with you, all I did was post Vista was good and you were the first in quoting me by bashing Vista, as far as I can remember.
