I have a question, how does it detect which anime I am watching? By the name of the file?
I have named the anime in Chinese, does it still work?

That might only work if the name is also present as a synonym in the mal database. Other than that, I have an idea for the new Malu 2.0 to use an alternate method of detection for such cases.

Woooa, great application you have there. But since I'm not a fan of those kind of tools, I won't probably download it... It's the same everywhere, I download almost none freewares/softwares/etc.

As for me, I have my own MyAnimeList as homepage and I'm always logged on, so it's as easy as one click to update... I always let my internet browser open to that page so when I finish an episode, I automatically switch to it and add the episode. No big deal... But there are some interesting tools in your program I must say, like searching for new torrents, that would be really useful since it would be easier to search in that ton of torrents!

You can use the tool only for torrents if you wish so, just disable player recognition and set filters for the series (for example.. "ayako kannagi h264" and it will automatically download new episodes if they are higher than your last watched)

Agh, no luck running it in Crossover on Leopard. Here's hoping you can figure out a Mac version eventually.

Have you tried with the wine libraries?

I haven't been able to get that working, either. Crossover's been reliable, and had it running, and I got through the setup, but it didn't interact with my files, and then it froze and crashed.

Not running it natively, it would just be more trouble than it's worth. When I find a cheap external hard drive I'll probably pick up a copy of XP for Boot Camp, but for now I need all my disk space.

I don't really know Crossover. In linux however, with wine, it runs quite well.

Yeah, I've thought about it, but I do not have a fixed frequency in my downloads. Since I have a download limit, I prefer checking at which point I am and how much Gb I have left...

But I have a question, does it open our own torrent download software or the MAL Updater is able to download the files in the torrent (which I doubt)? If it opens my Azureus (the software I use), well, I have a tendancy to save the torrent in a torrent folder, to put every new animes (or episodes) in my E:/ partition in "Stopped" status... Then I start my downloads when I feel to do so and if I have download limit left...

Since sometimes I switch computer, I want to be able to track the torrent... that's why I save it (on my External Hard Drive).

Would it work?

StackOverflow:

- It uses your current torrent program
- With Azureus/Vuze it's not possible to tell it the folder where to store the file, however, with uTorrent, you can have malu tell it to store them in each anime folder (in this case you need it to download to a specific one so that wouldn't be useful.. but in the next version there will be an option to specify a custom global folder)
- Add the folder in stopped mode: not possible

There are more ways to control utorrent and azureus via http etc but I haven't planned to use that yet.

Well, I hope it gave you some ideas for the update for a most powerful performance ;)
Since I have my traditional way of downloading stuffs, that's why I always stuck with it.
Note: adding a torrent in "Stopped" mode will not take any space on the hard drive, which can be useful sometimes when space is running out, but want it in the "queue" list.

I'm curious as to how this program works, how can it tell if you're watching a video thats the next one in a series? Do you have to tell the computer what it is? Also, if im wanting to participate in episode discussions, wouldn't it be easier for me to just go to MAL and manually add the episode?

Not that I dont appreciate the hard work you put into this; the program looks amazing. I'm just curious about these things and what makes it more efficient than going to MAL and doing it urself.

You need to wear a magic pointy hat like this while watching and cast a spell
"computer.. recognize the anime now!"

You'll have to try it and find out, there's nothing I can tell you to convince you otherwise.

Mangas would be harder to do, since the file names are harder to detect... I mean, every mangas I download doesn't have the same way of naming... which is different for animes.

Yeah that will be a lot of work, but first I'll make it only for manual updates.

I just dont like the idea of a program updating my stuff for me, its not like i watch all my stuff on the comp anyway and because my list is updated fully its easy for me to update myself little by little as I watch so I know its done right, plus I tag all my stuff so Id just rather update it too.
