I still don't understand why Saber thinks she was a failure of a ruler.

Lancelot became Berserker because he felt guilty about having fallen in love with Guinevere (Arthur's queen in the legend) and felt bad for not being punished by Arthur (whom I assume forgave Lancelot). Lancelot also mentions that all the knights felt the same about Arthur being a great ruler. Sure they betrayed her, but that's more of a problem with the Knights themselves than Arthur's incompetence. And all kingdoms, even those of Gilgamesh and Alexander the Great, eventually fell; what is it that she can't get over?

Well Arturia's(Arthur's) kingdom fell because of her not being able to understand her knights and subjects or even the Queen which led to Lancelot saving Guinevere, slaying other good knights, other knights leaving her side etc.So she believes another ruler would be better. Her problem is that she is too much of an idealist like Kerry and Shirou.Never seeing how things really are leading them to failure.

There's a reason why FSN is supposed to be played/seen before Fate/Zero.

If you gave FZ a 6 and then proceed to watch FSN I doubt you will raise the score.Instead you will lower it.

Well I was left a little confused after watching the last episode. Doesn't help that I haven't done any reading for this series, nor watched FSN first. I don't even know what a BD is, but it sounds like the DVD or something with extras.

Anyway, awesome series that in one word would be described as-"Powerful"
Probably a 9.5/10

Exactly, which is why doing it the other way around makes much more sense.

Actually, there's also the fact the Knights lancelot talks about are the loyal ones, as in the ones who did stuck through with Arthur and died at the battle of Camlann. Also, Saber never passed judgment on Lancelot, that's what ate him.

What a bittersweet ending.... After playing FSN Vn watched and its anime, I always wondered why Kiritsugu abandoned Illiya. But now I know that he didn't actually abandoned her, it just that the damn Einsbern stop him from seeing her.... But what a sad family they are...

Kiritsugu died before he able to meet Illiya and the real Iri (damn you kotomine!)
Iri died before she able to meet Kiritsugu and lliya
Kiritsugu and Iri died before Illiya able to meet them

When Shirou said he will do things that Kiritsugu unable to do I was touched because he actually do everything that Kiritsugu wanted in FSN especially saving Illiya from Einsbern and her fate from becoming the Holy Grail. The ending is beautiful if you watched/played FSN before.

The TV version is pretty much just promo for the BD (Blu-ray) that will come out in September. In S1 they added like 25 minutes of new footage & fixed some arts, lights... for the BD, that's why ppl are craving for the BD release of S2 now. Obviously even the BD can't cover everything in the novel but it will make more sense and better pacing than the TV version at least.

Not as disappointing as the last one. A good ending for a series but a bad followup episode, practically nothing happened here.

But I absolutely loved the last scene of Kiri and Shirou, I didn't expect it to be THAT well-executed, especially when the music kicks in! (To the Beginning still the superior OP) Goosebumps!

I prefer a Hollow/Ataraxia adaptation than Heaven's Feel but whatever ufotable brings I'll eat it.

I suggest you better find a way for play the visual novel, if not then the tv version instead of the movie because UBW movie is more like something made for fans. It was rushed and thus characters don't get explained well and you will have a hard time understanding some stuff.

And, if for some reason you liked Saber, then a conclusion to her misguided ideal can be seen in the tv version of Fate/Stay Night. UBW doesn't touch it.

So... I would have to watch both vers.? Since I don't have the console to play the visual novel.

In real world mythology, Angra Mainyu is the Zorastarian devil. In the Fateverse, however, Angra Mainyu began its life as a common villager who, centuries ago, was offered as a sacrificial lamb. In order for the other villagers to purify themselves, all sin, from murder to theft, was spiritually placed on the boy that became Angra Mainyu, after which he was tortured and killed. The Grail later identified him as a hero to be summoned, since he had technically managed to save the villagers from this sin.

During the 3rd War, the Einzberns attempted to summon Angra Mainyu under the misconception that he was a powerful devil, but ended up getting a common boy. He lasted for a few days and was then absorbed back into the Grail. However, as the Grail identified him as a normal human being, the kind that it was designed to bestow wishes upon, it attempted to grant his wish. Of course, as he had been tortured and murdered throughout his life his wish lay in basically causing the world to die, and since then the Grail has been corrupted by his presence and occupied with answering that one wish. Thus the Grail will interpret every wish so as to destroy as much as possible, regardless of what the wish actually is.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the wish on his body suppose to be that he is to embody/become All the Evils of the World? And that's the wish the Grail granted? I know that the entity inside the Grail is the embodiment of the Third Magic, a real spirit/entity that lives without a physical body. And it wants to be born and cause destruction since he is the manifestation of the wish carved in Avenger's soul, which is to become Angra Mainyu, All the Evils of the World?
The normal human, Avenger himself, doesn't really wish for that but rather the curse that was in his body passed on by the villagers.

I felt that this episode lack conclusion and although it is to be expected from a prequel adaptation, not all people could be satisfied with this kind of ending. While this adaptation is certainly faithful to the original material, for a 'completed' series, F/Z doesn't feel complete at all.

Now I really wish they would adapt HF, or we're only left with the VN and the crappy FSN-UBW anime, which is not satisfying at all.

Honestly it's normal that ppl without some moderate knowledge about Nasuverse will not understand FZ very well. There's a reason why some ppl go on and on asking about "WTF is a Angra Maiyu" and "WTH did Kerry reject the grail"... ufotable" "special TV cut" the foreshadowing of the corrupted grail didn't help either, even in this ep, they cut AM out too so it made Kirei & Gil's revivals looked like some asspulls.

The way you said it (not the way, but the timing) it seems you mean the only reason people can dislike (or not finding as good as majority) this anime is if they lack knowledge which is a severe acusation!

eh lots of ppl who loved the novel found this adaption lacking (due to poor pacing, or cut scenes...) so no, that's not what I was saying at all. BUT it is true that if you didn't already have knowledge about Nasuverse before, you wouldn't understand lots of things and therefore reduces your enjoyment of the series. Keep in mind that FZ was written after FSN and was aiming for the audience that already read FSN even though it's a prequel.

Watching both versions is best in BD format.

It will teach a lot then I suggest the VN. For you will have much more info despite being not the best as the VN is it would be terrible to miss out at least the good parts of those 2 series. I know lots might be bad but IT DOES HAVE ITS MERITS PEOPLE! No matter how much you may bitch at it.

The vessel of the grail was destroyed so there was nothing to hold the contents of the grail. Of course whats inside the grail poured out.
And Gil didn't get reincarnated.
It's just that the "mud" from the grail took away his spiritual form and gave him a corporeal body.
As a child, I was told that society is a melting pot of talents; knowledge and experience combined to form important alloys that will contribute to mankind. When I got to highschool, however, I thought that it's more like a river in which the water represents our peers while we ourselves are the stones in the river. Constant erosion by mindless majority sheeping has made us lose our unique edge. After I hit the age of 18, I realized that I've been wrong all along. Society is no melting pot. Society is no river. Society is a person, a very skilled rapist, and he has fucked us all.

And where did gilgamesh go? since he was reincarnated and all..

Gil took the portion of youth and got shrunk to a kid so he could blend in with mongrels for 10 years.

Lol yes, more or less. He basically lived with Kirei for 10 years, blended in with the "orphan kids" that the Church saved. BTW, amazing search you performed Kiritsugu. Did you found Shirou, went into extremely happy mode and gave up the search?

Anyway, beyond that, for those who kinda go "lol whut, he died thinking of SHirley !?" yeah he did, what did you expect. For those who saw Fate/Stay Night and remember a particular character, Fujimura Taiga, who grew up as Shirou's sort of surrogate big sister, the whole reason Taiga knew Shirou was because he saw Shirley in Taiga. So yeah, he spent the next five years surrounded by a little boy and a high school girl who reminded him of his first love.

Great ending to a great show, BD should even be better but I'm sure sure if I'll re-watch it when they come out. This show gets a solid 10 from me, it was great to think about stuff with this show since it was quite complicated at times.

I'll watch Fate/stay night (TV) sometime soon and Fate/stay night UBW is also already on my HDD.
I almost never read discussions after I made my post, if you want to reply PM me or post on my profile page.

There's a reason why some ppl go on and on asking about "WTH did Kerry reject the grail"...

I thought the episode made it very clear? Simply himself knowing how misguided his method is, so in order to save the world he has to reject the offer.

Well that's the end
In F/NS the impact of the grail seemed be bigger than screened on this episode
I wonder if Kirisutgu have seen Archer and Kirei at ground zero when he was searching for survivors
Rin's mother is still alive which unfortunately gave my speculation about Kariya's action at the church come true
Especially when Kariya wanted to be the father after all

Kirisutgu was so stiff at the end even with Shirou around

A masterpiece even without the BD

THIS. I'd rather have a remake than a Heaven's Feel anime

Shirley remains as Kerry's true love after all. Damn poor Irisviel.

I'd get a Blu-Ray player and the Blu-Ray of the last episodes just for Gil. *nosebleeds* I thank you, UFOtable :3 Okay, fangirl mode off.

It was strange to see Kiritsugu happy, crying. Damn, that seems so strange compared to the beginning. It really shows how he grew as a character. Just as Waver also changed... I am glad Waver is still alive. I didn't know that Rin's mom was still alive, but I can't really call it alive. Seeing her in that wheelchair and also stuck in her memories... Damn, Aoi. I feel really sorry for Rin now. If I ever rewatch UBW or F/SN again, I will keep this in mind.

"Will one last miracle come to pass?"

And the tale of the Fourth Holy Grail War finally reaches its conclusion.

It is here, among the charred ruins of the massive Fuyuki City fire that Kiritsugu Emiya's Magus Killer career ends, and he steps off the stage a broken man, his dream shattered and left to his adopted son Shirou to carry on. Kirei Kotomine, having found and accepted the answer to his life that he was looking for, is no longer an empty man. Waver Velvet is a man changed by his experiences, and decides to set off on his own journey. Kariya Matou dies an utterly ruined man, but comforted by a vision of the dream he never achieved.

The failure of "The Holy Grail War that was supposed to end all Holy Grail Wars" will set up the events of the final Fifth Holy Grail War 10 years later as we know it. Once more, Servants and Masters will meet again, some of them the children of the Masters of the Fourth War, to finish what their predecessors began.

"Fate/Zero"

...

And now I shall name the story of the Third Holy Grail War "Fate/Negative". lol
