| The pacing's too slow, but I'm liking it otherwise, woohoo. Visually, this episode was good except for the damned Gate of Gehenna. (fugly CGI ahoy). |
Damn! They got the old man? Oh well, at least he went out like a trooper. This episode was rather busy, I'm looking forward to seeing how this fantastical school and the quirky charachters (there are always plenty of quirky characters in this type of story) fleshes out the world. |

They don't seem to have changed anything in a way that negatively effects anything terribly important yet, and as a whole all the selling points seem to be coming through. I have no problems with liberal adaptation, just bastardization. They decide they want to tell the story a little differently to emphasize different aspects of the characters and better fit their allocated length of time and change of medium, that's cool. Nothing wrong with that so long as they handle it delicately. |
| The battle didn't have much impact since I don't care about these characters yet, since it's only the 2nd episode. But the sad music they played was nice. It's disappointing the dad already died, though. I thought he was cool. The ED sounds so out of place. And the voice actor for Rin, he's good when he normally talks, but when he starts screaming, it makes my ears bleed. His role in Mayoi Neko Overrun was the same, it was painful. |
