Finally an anime where people actually die! Good break from the past few action anime I have seen. I have high hopes for this series. |

MessageInTime said: That's exactly why this whole argument is so ridiculously asinine. You're supposed to be able to put together that he was framed from the fact that the judge stated that there was overwhelming evidence and the fact that his defense lawyer was someone involved with the prison that he was sent to. The details of exactly how he was framed are no more relevant to the story than how he was transported from the courtroom to prison. If you are looking for the type of story that would include details like that, then tvtropes has an excellent article on various media that you would enjoy.Lol at this guy complaining that it wasn't explained. They didn't fucking show how he was prosecuted, they just showed that he was prosecuted. Don't complain about details left out when only the sentencing was shown. |

Namely, the aspects that do not differ from reality, and how they are bungled so badly that the suspension of disbelief is impossible to maintain for anytone with half a brain.I have one thing to say in this thread: People, if you're looking for plot holes, search them within the anime's context, do NOT compare it to reality. Seriously, you're watching a fictional story! If something is unrealistic and/or contradicts itself in the world set up by the anime, then it's reasonable to complain. But someone getting framed for a murder, in some kind of post-apocalyptic world where the judicial system is obviously corrupted and people seem to be back to the gladiators era is perfectly conceivable, in my opinion. Oh! please stop trying to be such a smartass. From when did you form a full opinion of what aspects of this world interact completely with our reality when it was just the first episode? And even in reality when the system(police, judges etc) is corrupted they can make pigs fly. Who cares how the scene looked when the police doesn't bother investigating seriously or they even want to frame a person. They wanted to throw him in jail and they did it. If you think that's unrealistic then you only judge "realism" by serious movies and books that try to be very realistic and not by real reality. Because believe me reality is a lot more unrealistic than you think. There are cases and events that happened in reality that if a guy like you saw them in an anime would be objecting on how unrealistic they are. Reality is more outrageous than your own mediocre life experiences. And in the end is still pointless because the show never claimed that the system works like in our world, and is naive to judge the whole image of it's world from the first episode. Yeah, way to try and distract from the point. The character reactions still make no sense. If the police were completely corrupt in their job and made shit up, this is a reality I can easily accept. The problem is that this is not for one second a reality we're presented with. With the absence of these points being brought up, they are not fuel for the defense, but plotholes. Also, I think you mean "stop being such a smartass". I'm completely succeeding and you know it. Trying isn't the word. It wont be explained till later. Stop reading so much into it when it's only the first ep. They did the things they did to give the viewer a sense of "This is so fucked up! Something isn't right here!" which apparently worked considering all the people bitching about how the kid got send to DeadMan Wonderland without any evidence. I'm happy with the start. They did leave out a few small details that where in the manga but I'm sure they'll bring them up in the next episode. |

Did not disappoint ^^. So happy that Shiro's voice fits her character, I was quite worried about that O.o... I'm a little disappointed in the murder scene, could have been more graphic like the manga... but oh well, the rest was great XD I just hope the rest of the story tries to stay with the manga or I'll be pretty upset XD |

For those of you who haven't read the manga, do so. There's so much material that won't be covered in this 12 episode season, and there are so many plot holes in the anime adaption. Oh and Lind_L_Tailor, I'd suggest you read the manga, and at any rate I'm pretty sure "plot" isn't what this series is for, it's more akin to "Saw: The Animation." |

I can tell what they were trying to do, thank you very much. My god you are so full of shit. I have never seen so much pointless nitpicking of nothing. First your three points. -No one ever tried to bother with any gaps on the prosecutors arguments because the trial was ricked (btw how that hell to you know how the prosecutor presented his case? You don't You know shit about it). That was the job of the defense attorney and he was doing anything but defending. Why are you wondering about something simple as that? NO some guy from the audience isn't gonna jump and play the defense attorney. Now that shit would have been unrealistic. - The explosion or whatever that red man did of course is unexplained. Why? Because the ones that should investigate about it never did. They didn't give a fuck!!!! IS THAT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND? And no, the people of the city aren't gonna play detectives. Do you get up from your TV when they arrest someone to go and see the crime scene, to see if the evidence confirm the story the police released on the news? And NO they have nothing to be afraid of because they are the authority. Who's gonna arrest them? Yes they can do whatever the shit they like and that's how they do it in the real world too btw. Just go and see the list of complains against the police by people. They almost always get away with whatever they do. - Whether the video was presented or not it makes no difference because for the father of the girl to have it on the phone it means the video was already leaked to public and every damn soul in the country already knew about it including the judges. But even if the video was not viewed how does anyone expect the kid to win the trial when his defense attorney tries to send him in jail? When you have no defense the only thing left is accusations that get no response and make you look guilty. Now about some staff you said in the above post. The reaction you expect from that girls father means nothing really. Who died and made YOU the king of human psychology? "I'm not taking him being screwy in the head because of his daughter's death as an excuse. I don't care how broken he is at this point, this isn't an excuse to betray someone you considered like your own son." Hell fucking yeah you will take it! You will take it and shove it deep into your brain. Thinking the worst of him after seeing that video and while being crash by his daughter death is not strange at all. Who the hell you think you are claiming that such reaction is impossible? You don't know so shut-up. Besides different people react differently, there is not only one natural way of reacting for every thing. Your claims about human reactions as of the father example above shows, are thinner than ice. Their reactions where just fine. And don't preach to us about supernatural and human reactions. You gladly gave TTGL a high score and their reactions as humans in that show where as much pulled as their crazy supernatural staff. That didn't bother you and now you come do judge human reactions in a supernatural show ten times more realistic in terms of human reactions? Heck, most anime in general have stranger reactions. What about all those harems, shoujos, shounens and staff? Fuck 99% of anime is more unrealistic than the reactions in this episode!! So please give me a break. You just can't admit that you are wrong. |

Just admit you are wrong and go back to another series' board as we don't want you here. I'm pretty sure I was spot on in my assessment. You claim that it was unrealistic for him to go to jail because it was not explained. How in the world is that an argument? No one saw the trial and the judge clearly stated "overwhelming" evidence. That is ALL we have to go off concerning his actual prosecution. So I'm pretty sure overwhelming evidence to sentence someone to death isn't out of the realm of possibility. Your argument is just pure trash and will be treated as such until you have something worth while to say. |

why is this only 12 ep long? wHY? Why WHY WHY WHYWHYWHYHWHYHWHYHYHYHYHYHYHEHAEHSEHYEYEH. Sorry this show got me a bit excited... Phew. Been a while. At long last a bloody, crazy story with awesome atmosphere and animation (the latter reminds me of Eureka7). I don't know why you'd have a problem with the plot. It's alternate reality, with some crazy shenanigans. Exactly like Darker than Black, Freesia, Higurashi etc. Unless you hate gore in which case I pity you ^^ Jay_Ox said: This episode seems interesting, but very rushed and weak as a result. I felt like they could have spread this out over a couple episodes and had a more compelling set up for what is to follow. The whole conviction scene was so ridiculous that I laughed aloud when they said "given the overwhelming evidence". What overwhelming evidence? The fact that he was found unconscious in the same room as the bodies? Agree with your first point (ep being rushed), but I think they were 1. restricted by the preset 11 ep length, so they tried to cover as much "build-up" as possible 2. if they had to make it fast-paced in the first place why not try to KO the audience (they sent me to the floor, that's for sure). Your second point is stupid for reasons mentioned by others. The fact that they don't show something doesn't mean it didn't happen. He was obviously framed and the "overwhelming evidence" was either fabricated, or the ppl working on the case were paid off. In fact this is such a cliche situation, that actually showing it would've harmed the episode. Maybe use your brain while watching... Would you be happy if they showed how they added explosion marks to the scene to explain the devastation, or knife mark to the bodies, or paid off the agents/judge, or photoshopped the pictures taken at the crime scene, or...? Not to mention that everything was clearly shown from the protagonists perspective, which is a standard way of writing. He had no idea that he was going to be framed so neither did we ( we weren't sure until it happened at least, but you could see it from miles away). Have some imagination folks... Plot holes are often just blanks your mind can't fill in with information that you SHOULD have figured out. |

Deadman Wonderland is officially the best anime of the season. Didn’t like how they killed off all the characters at first but other than that it was great. It has blood, action, violence and romance (well kinda since I thought him and Mimi would become a couple in the series) just before the massacre. Overall a great start to the series. |

Talk about a massacre! Looks like it came right out of a ''Gears of War'' game! Great first episode, but, I'm seriously lost in what's going on. Characters are all very unique, but strange. Animation is pretty good. Everything is great up to the point where logicality isn't in place. How could a single student (with no evidence provided) massacre a group of 29 students. I think the director threw too many things at us in this single episode for most of us to comprehend. Oh well, looking forward to the next! |

DmonHiro said: Bullshit. Yeah... one kid was able to kill 29 other students, decapitating them and ripping them in pieces. I'm not impressed by this. The plot is paper thin, and I figured out who the red guy was by the end of the episode. Yes, it's THAT obvious, but I won't spoil it. So... the only thing this anime has going for it is the violence. The plot and premise are stupid: one big battle royal, diguised as a carnival. My thoughts exactly. But that doesnt mean im not entertained >:D |

Just watched the first ep and I must say that I liked it. Fast paced with a story that could be interesting, altough it is a bit far fetched. I would like to see a bit of a story and fast paced action for this show. |

Wow, this was a really interesting episode. I can't believe they killed the whole class right off the bat! O_O Although it IS pretty unreasonable to think that a 14 year old could have killed 29 students ... I mean, really :S Seemed a bit censored to me as well, you couldn't really see anything but it seems understandable. I first thought Shiro would be someone only Ganta could see. Knew it was Nessa, though, and Ganta's voiced by a girl! ;O I don't think her voice really fits though ... oh well O_O Tamaki and the captain tried to kill Ganta off already, but Ganta has the "red man" powers it looks like. Coolio. Plus they have to eat candy and fight in matches to stay alive ...? I dunno, looks pretty interesting to me! XD |
