Does anyone else beside me hate old anime graphics? I can't stand when to graphics are so weird like that
although people who like it probably think that in another way. Please let me know. My friends i know in real life aren't even bothered of the graphics.

I love them. It takes some getting used to at first, but I really like shows with them, which makes me accept the old graphics as a whole in the end

You learn to love.

Plus usually, not always, they tend to be somewhat long series with good plots.

Nice to see people using avatars I made. :D

Anyways, I don't hate old style art or anything but I can possibly say I do avoid them.

Of course, what I consider "old" would probably be different than what some others consider it.

Ewww. They are impossible to look at. Unless it is in 1080p and it's drawn and animated by ufotable I won't watch it.

Considering I pretty much cut my teeth on series with 'old anime graphics', I respectfully disagree. They only seem weird because animation has advanced so much since the 70s/80s, most of it now mostly created via computer and with a lot more good-looking CGI.

What do you mean? Art like in Rose of Versailles or LOGH? I don't mind them, especially not when there's a great story that I'm watching.

No. I prefer older graphics to newer graphics. Stuff from the 80's to mid-90's mostly, but older anime doesn't bother me either. Newer anime is less visually appealing to me, but I'll still watch it. I'm not going to limit myself like that.

I think they matter. If you say otherwise, it's like saying the black and white Twilight Zone is better than the colored Twilight Zone. Twilight Zone's a TV series btw.

But, each person his/her own. Some people like vintage stuff while others like new stuff. I mean would you rather an Iphone or a Brick Phone from the 1980? They can both make/receive calls.

For me, vintage-looking anime like Astro Boy just scares the shit out of me because the art is so ugggggly.

Let's be real: the B&W Twilight Zone will always be better. The 'new' series just pales in comparison. It's not a matter of visuals; it's a matter of writing and acting.

I prefer new graphics to old but if an anime or w.e is good (good plot) then graphics shouldn't matter. Same goes for games and films too.

If an anime is good, the art shouldn't be too important. On the flip side, if an anime is bad, no amount of money poured into the art can save it. As far as I've seen, the art has got to be pretty damn bad to mess over a good anime. And not just bad, approaching objectively bad, if that even exists. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head would be Welcome to the NHK's extremely off model episodes.

most of the time it doesn't matter, it's more style that'll bother me, if anything (which happens in modern anime as well)

what??? Twilight Zone(1959) is much better than the 1985 and 2002 version. This is a sentiment that is held true for most viewers.
To answer OP, NOPE. I'm not bothered by it. I would watch anything if it's good and can keep my attention for 20 minutes.

I do prefer the modern visual styles of studios like Shaft and Kyoani but it's never kept me away from a show. If a show is good, I couldn't care less about the visuals. Cowboy Bebop and The End of Evangelion still look pretty good nowadays despite the fact they were both from 98. If you avoid old shows you'll be missing out on some of the best shows that anime has to offer.

I prefer newer animation, but if older series have good plots, characters, etc, I don't mind watching it. Normally though, if an older series has an average plot, I would normally drop it whereas if a series with newer animation has an average plot, I watch it. It really all comes down to personal preferences and the anime itself.

No. Admittedly, I am bothered at times by animation that has not aged well, but more often than not the imagination behind it shines through... well at least for the good shows.

Actually I think the old Twilight Zone episodes had better more interesting stories so yeah I would say they were better than the color episodes. Even the color episodes that tried to remake old stories made changes that didn't enhance the plot.

As for older animation I think it makes for a refreshing change from the modern stuff. Sure some of it can be butt ugly but there is plenty of newer shows that have ugly looking characters.

Pretty much story and characters are more important than animation and art style to me anyway but I think anime like LotGH gave the characters a very regal look that really suited the tone of the story. I'm not sure I've seen any modern anime that can really match that style.

It depends, old school stuff like Ranma I can overlook how dated the animation is, but there are some shows that are just bad and the animation wasn't good even back in the day. So all in all it's just a matter of preference.

As I'm an old geezer compared to the horde of teenagers here, I still like the old school anime. I grew up with them. But I agree that nowadays' are better, visually speaking.
It's like with videogames, if you're not used to, it can be painfull to adapt to old ones.
