Despite already reading the manga i still enjoyed this quite a bit, there were a few changes/additions since the source material was very short.

The CG has been pretty good so far and managed to perfectly recreate toriyama's mecha designs, the 2D effects animation is great too im glad they didnt rely solely on CG for that, the smoke and explosion effects, specifically when the tanks fire is super satisfying.

Anyway, from this point on since this is where the manga ended, is all new content, a new character was teased at the end of this episode and Toriyama was supposedly pretty involved with the production before he passed away so im excited for whatever may come next.

@Sinovexx If he was pretty involved in the production, then from here on out, it's basically his swan song?

SandLand Ep.1-6

A bland adaptation and an okay adventure series.
Not only are CGI and 2D constantly clashing with each other ― most background and secondary characters being drawn unlike the CGI main figures and all th machinery ― but bad tendencies of CGI are also in display, like the hyper active virtual camera (with little impact) during the few action scenes. Aside from those scenes, the direction and framing are mostly non existent.

The film's strength comes purely from its slightly fun and enjoyable source. Despite a few additions to the comic book, it felt a bit long. The actual film's pace might be better considering the 20mn cut.

Score: 5,5/10
Enjoyment: 4/5
Maybe the later part, made directly for animation, will be slightly better.
