According to the official twitter, Baba Takahiro, the president of Visual Art’s, admitted a game adaptation project of Angel Beats!, which was announced by Maeda Jun at a talk held in Kyoto University. However, the project is still in preliminary stage and they will decide approval or disapproval for the project half a year later judging from the progress of Maeda's scenario.

This is awesome news. As long as it's as in-depth as his other games then I shall enjoy exploring everyone's story and get more out of the world he created.

Yep

The only positive I can think of this nonsense is that there might be a coherent plot if it was in game form. However, there would have to be a plot to build upon in the first place which is something Angel Beats lacked.

The only reason I would play this is if they somehow made up for their failure for skipping a hell lot of the cast's development, and cut down on a lot of the unnecessary parts.

If your going to complain that Yu-Gi-Oh! Mangas are on the top NY times manga best sellers, you must not realize how popular Card games are(as well as the fact that you get a free card).

it's actually great. angel beats fits more in to a game. or at least a 26 episodes anime adaption. since the 13-episodes anime has a lot of plotholes, too much pacing, facts that are forgotten etc.

I like this idea. The world of Angel Beats and it's characters were never fully explored. If this game will tell us more, I support it.

But my biggest question is, will there be routes? (If so, I can already imagine which routes will be available)

Even though I know this is probably going to be a VN, I really wish it was an old school arcade BeatEmUp like Castle Crashers or TMNT, or maybe a Phantasy Star/Monster Hunter style co-op RPG action game.

If there are routes that cover all the character's pasts and not just those covered in the anime, then it'll be worth something.

Perhaps

*turns off laconic mode*

But it does get you thinking since there is an element of subjectiveness when drawing the line between a laconic phrase and meaningless responses. Primarily if the mod doesn't pick up the deep intended meaning then it's meaningless. Otherwise it's a laconic phrase. Hmm. Highly verbose response for a discussion on laconic phrases.

Getting back on topic, will the game focus on the music or the fighting? I'm sure it's quite obvious that AB was going for a business model that involves churning out music to sell CDs and make money. At the same time, they were also trying to draw another kind of crowd with lots of cool guns and explosions. Add that to KEY's signature weepy storyline and you've got *something* that looks like a mix of different successful business models.

Now the question is: What will the Angel Beats game tend towards? Call of Duty, Guitar Hero or Clannad?

they should've done this instead of the anime to begin with....seriously I hope this at least gives us a proper full story unlike the botched anime, the way maeda jun really wanted it to be.

To tell the truth, you could see there were more than enough backbone to create a comprehensive story. They just totally screwed themselves with the 1-cour limit. If they don't just retrace their done work but rather build on the backbone of the anime's universe they can come up with a good game.

I'm sick of Maeda Jun's stuff, Clannad ~After Story~ was horrible (for its bullshit ending) and Angel Beats didn't make any sense and also had a bullshit ending.

I admit that a game will give a chance to expand on the characters and the general story but I have lost interest already in his stuff, except AIR (which is kind of a favorite of mine).

Dude, Jun Maeda didn't have anything to do with Clannad's anime ending, I don't know why you're hating on him for it.

You need to play the visual novel to really get what he was going for, and the anime doesn't capture that at all.
