Why does it seem like so many people believe you "should" drop something just because you dislike it? Sorry that some people want to stick it out to the end to form a complete opinion on a series?

And who cares if you personally drop something you aren't enjoying? That certainly doesn't mean everyone has to do the same.

And yes, shows can be bad and entertaining. Ever heard of hilariously bad?

All in all, no one should have the justify why they decided to complete a damn show lol.

7/10 Very fun show to watch.

The mechanic was so epically awesome, they should've introduced him earlier.

We need season 2.

Ending was better than I expected it to be.
Nothing is finished off completely of course, but they did well in capping this off (for now).

During inside the plane conversation, their action and decision are very vague.Therefor i am filling in the hole with the new plot I found in episode 12. understand?? well nvm
Even thou Daisuke Satō made a few mistake in making zombie story but that doesn't meant that he fail at writing a good apocalypse.

This series started out really good but then it just went downhill.
First 3 eps were amazing and my rating for those eps is a 9/10
Episode 4 was a recap ep - not good in a 12 episode short series imo
And then I was simply disgusted by the ecchi.
Sure ecchi is not bad to see but zombies and ecchi do not mix at all - that's were HotD fails.
The action scenes were pretty good though.

My final rating for HotD: 6/10

If it's horrible AND entertaining, why rate it a 1? It's done its job if you're entertained.

Some rate things based on enjoyment. Some rate based of storyline and structure. I rate considering both of these factors so for me this anime gets a 7. If the crappyness of the storyline strongly out weighs the enjoyment then the score leans lower.

The thing I don't understand is how some people can rate so many anime 10. I only have three 10s on my list...

My point is, why complete a show if you don't like it? Why force yourself to watch a show all the way through if you're just gonna show everyone you absolutely hated it? Just drop it and move on. (You used in general second person, not directed at you)
Edit: On the other hand, I think 9 and 10 are reserved for exceptional shows. Personally, I rate something an 8 if I really enjoyed it, 9 if it was nearly perfect in all fields, and 10 if it was After Story or Evangelion.

Their defense is that you can watch something horrible and still find it entertaining, I don't agree; but that's their opinion and I'm tired of fighting with those kinds of people anyways.

Nope. Well, not for me at least. My defense is that I have a mental disease that works in such a way that once I've stated that I'm going to watch something and watch it, I've invested myself, so the show would have to have no redeeming qualities for me to break that investment. I wind up staying because, "It has zombies, and the non-recap portion of episode 4 was so good that I know something of that caliber could come up again," while hating myself because, rationally, I know it's getting worse. I don't know if everyone else is like that, but it seems like it could be the case for many others.

And a response to a similar question in the Uraboku thread.

Entertaining while it lasted, but, I'll forget about it until it pops up again (OVA) thanks to the lack of an interesting plot and a crap ending (it shouldn't have ended).

Just like Angel Beats last season, the most hyped anime was the disappointment of the season, sadly.

Love Madhouse for the fantastic ecchi, though.

dissapointing :( the words were inspiring but there was really no struggle at all, no sense of "will we make it?" i think at the wire fence where they were trapped was MUCH more thrilling! ever since they found safe ground with others everything went downhill.

extra bit after the credits made me laugh, gotta love the references.

and what of the despicable teacher? i hate him -_- wanted to see him die for myself, atm he could come back, "weird engine sound" = though the teacher in car boot woudl spring up ahaha xD

roll on ova's and hopefully season2, need proper closure!

POlitics, Politics, politics, we hate them....
Now my point of view in explaining the Nuke Scenes....

okay the nuke was launched to eradicate "them" on the face of the planet, and gaining dominance at the same time (politics usually uses crisis as an excuse for dominance to the weakest link), but the targeted government, wouldn't want that (well who the heck would want your country to be burn to the ground?) so they tried to block the nuke by firing missiles at it (the boat scenes) then, one Nuke slipped and fortunately it exploded halfway, thus emitting E.M.P or Electromagnetic Pulse(is a burst of electromagnetic radiation that results from an explosion (usually from the detonation of a nuclear weapon) and/or a suddenly fluctuating magnetic field. The resulting rapidly changing electric fields and magnetic fields may couple with electrical/electronic systems to produce damaging current and voltage surges.), thus destroying the whole electronics on the country....

So, final impressions: most characters were pretty interesting, and the whole zombie blood / gore thing was good. However, the plot was pretty bad :S Started out pretty good but grew lackluster and boring at times. Personally I just find this your typical zombie attack show - nothing special. 7/10 for me

I liked this episode because of all the action and everything, but I have to admit that this was not the kind of ending that I expected. Well, at least they through in a quotation at the end that kind of explains why they ended the series like this. I just hate how there are so many unanswered questions.

Like hell.....srsly, every horror movie made has ecchi in it. Its the dark side of our fetishes as humans.
HoTD takes advantage of that factor and increases it by a 100 times.

To be honest, i love it because its the first zombie anime series. Reminds me of dawn of the dead. But yea of course i like tites and booties but i can't stand hentai. There's nothing wrong with fan service to me. Just people who complain about it and still watch the series regardless. And yes i can care less about your principles, i just call them haters.

This would've been such a great anime if there was no or very little fan service.

Also them reaching a safe home for 3 episodes ruined the show as it was their journey and barely surviving that made it awesome in the first place.

All things considered, I'll just say it's an 8/10.

Needs another season or ova or something to actually finish their plot.

The show had a lot of potential, as most zombie media does. Unfortunately it suffered from bad characterisation, excessive fanservice and a lack of actual zombie action (although this ep had a fair amount).

Or more cynically..

The shows producers wanted to build suspense for the last episode, but the characters were too 'safe' in their little fortress.

The whole nuke launch created speculation that there would be a 'bad end' to the whole thing (and incidentally wiping the cast out with a nuke at the end would have totally earned this show another point from me)

The 'EMP' thing was a way for them to deal with the nukes from last episode, whilst simultaneousely allowing for a convenient zombie massacre (with no explanation as to why that many zombies suddenly decided to congregate.. maybe they're attracted by badassery as well as noise :-D)

Good episode though, REALLY could have done without the fan service, and the nurse, however when this show stepped away from its ludicrous fan-serviceyness it was a lot of fun to watch.

Not sure Id neccesarily watch a second season of it however, second seasons usually work on a 'first season + more' basis for these kinds of shows, and Im not sure I can handle any more fanservice..

about the target of those nuclear missiles, has anyone discussed about this scene yet?

the location of that missile (which later hit the nuclear missile) is 37°35′N 134°48′E. (put it in to google maps to see the location)

and its heading is 323.

so, those nuclear missiles were heading to somewhere NW of Japan, weren't them?
