I love most kinds of sushi. It is one of my favorite foods, truly (except the store bought kind and the ones they have at my school) My favorite is spicy tuna, so delicious.

Still dont understand why people think others like sushi b/c they're weaboos.

Like vegetables, sushi is an acquired taste for a reason. ITS HEALTHY FOR YOU. For the most part, sushi is not bio-engineered food. Sure it might be farm raised fish or the rice might be BE but at least you're not consuming a corn byproduct. Its just Rice, Fish, and seaweed. All are extremely healthy for you. If you eat it alot more than the typical fast food burger joint, you'll notice how much healthier you feel just by doing normal activities.

Of course you have to exercise or exert yourself to notice the difference. If you just sit on your ass, you might as well waste away. Anyways i think i wrote enough.

Technically the only thing that makes sushi sushi is the way the rice is seasoned, the fish has nothing to do with it being sushi. So a sushi roll can contain cooked ground beef, cheese, tomato, lettuce, pickles and onion just as long as it had that particular
seasoned rice. That would be interesting to try a cheeseburger sushi roll.

Here are some not so traditional sushi rolls.

If it smells fishy it means there's something wrong with it. Fresh fish does not smell fishy, it hardly has a smell at all.

I never liked sushi from the beginning. I've tried it and i personally think it does not suit my taste buds. Wasabi is fine though (if i mix it in with soy sauce and dip it with shrimps ^^)

^California Rolls are indeed good.

I've liked Sushi way before anime.
I wouldn't rave about it though, I don't like it THAT much.

I don't mind sashimi either - so you could say I like wasabi then.

It's not one of my favorite foods but I do like to eat it from time to time, its something I do get sick of though.

Well I like sushi, but I certainly prefer sashimi. I won't hide that I like seafood in general. I mean my favorite food is oysters.

But indeed if you force yourself like something because of anime there is certainly something very wrong with you. Comon it's like saying you love burgers because you love watching american movies. That must be wrong.

I don't think however that there is something wrong to like both anime and sushi.

there are plenty of sushi where nori is not involved, where it's just the rice and the fish, or where they have used sesame seeds to texture the outside of the roll...

then again, there is seaweed in toothpaste...if it's already been in your mouth, not sure the problem of it being in your stomach ;)

I like sushi, but I don't eat it very often because of how much it costs on campus. There's really only one version I can't stand, but the rest tastes fine.

Eel is probably my favorite.

I agree, I love it with sushi as well as boiled or in other foods. I don't think it really does anything but make it slightly salty and add a bit of crisp texture. Some people probably just have misgivings about it as "sea-weed" doesn't sound very appetizing lol.

I didn't like sushi at first since the quality is not so good in most restaurants in the US, it wasn't until I ate it fresh in NYC and later in Osaka that I started loving sushi.

"Sushi without wasabi taste like crap." Or uh, a lack of taste thereof. So one of my friend would say. But really, soy sauce is a must, too.

This is something I've never been able to understand. Aren't there more edible aquatic organisms in the ocean than there are grazing animals on land? Fishing isn't some mind-numbing, deficit-wracking task. It's really rather simple.

Not true in most places, you just have to have to know where your local and ethnic markets are, I eat a lot of fresh fish, since I have access to a local market that sells fish and various ethnic shops that sell fish.

Grazing animals are easier to replace , which why the bluefin tuna is becoming endangered and really expensive and it all depends on how fast the animal reproduces and what it eats. Which is why some fish can be farmed and others aren't.

I wouldn't go as far as say most places, unless you have something to back it up with. But certainly, tradition does have a huge factor on it, too. The "because we've always done it this way, we'll keep doing it" thing.

My ex-boyfriend had really loved it though.

I really enjoy sushi. There used to be a shop down the street and I'd get sushi there one or twice a month (pretty expensive, so that's as often as I could afford). Unfortunately, they closed down and now yes I do get sushi cravings all the time, with no good place nearby to take care of that with. :<

I live down the street from two relatively popular Japanese restaurants. I like normal sushi, where it's just rice and some sort of topping, but I dislike the Americanized sushi that has all of the special "sauces" and stuff poured over it.
Home-made sushi of course is the best :)
- I eat sushi not because I'm an otaku, but because my family is Japanese. Certain fish as sashimi is good too.

Sushi does not have to have fish in it. The only thing that makes sushi "sushi" is the seasoned rice.
For example this is just fried tofu stuffed with the seasoned rice.

I love that stuff. The sushi restaurant I usually go to doesn't put nearly enough rice in and there is zero sesame seeds. My grandmother also made them with pickled ginger, which was awesome (it counteracts the sweetness of the rest of it)
