| Am I the only one here that believes the culture of idolatry created by the industry(and the media) is just as much to blame as the said fans? It's easy to just say "crazy fans" when the truth is much more complex. They prop these seiyuus up for this kind of thing to happen. They are even CALLED idols in the media. People idolize and basically subscribe to the religion of Hirano Aya which has been put forth by the machine that runs it(media, publicists, etc.). I do like how I heard somebody in this thread say that this hasn't happened in the west, which is has. Perfect examples would be famous singers such as Brittany Spears or Michael Jackson. The "brangelina" crap is also another good example. My point is that the media, industries, etc. all know that celebrity idols are highly profitable, so they will follow suit and ride the money train. Until there comes a time where the ignorant masses are not profitable in such a way, it probably will never stop. I find it to be quite a scary reality in all honesty, it reminds me of how organized religion can profit off of the masses. |
