I'd like to see what you guys can come up with..

To be clear, this is what I'm looking for;

Aria, the town Aqua is based on Venice, Italy.
Gunslinger Girl takes place in the contemporary(?) Italy. (Haven't watched it yet, so can't really comment on it)
Soranowoto, supposedly inspired by a Spanish town.
Nasu - The Summer of Andalusia, also takes place in Spain, Andalusia.

I feel like I'm missing a few prime examples, but can't think of them right now.
Every recommendation is appreciated, however.

(But, what I also liked, Washington DC portrayed in Higashi no Eden.
So it doesn't necessarily have to stick to a European feeling, to a lesser extent.
Perhaps if I labeled it 'western'?)

Monster mostly takes place in Germany
Baccano takes place in 1930s Chicago

all three of these are pretty good imo

Well I guess you don't want some medieval fantasy with European settings, sooo...

Monster - Germany, Czech Republic etc (haven't seen it, but apparently they did a lot of research and used actual cities as models)
Blassreiter - futuristic Germany
Strait Jacket - victorian England + steampunk

I guess that's pretty much all~ :/

Baccano! - Obvious choice, if you don't mind a 1930ish USA feel.
Michiko e Hatchin - South America for you (presumably Brazil). Present time.
Nijuu Mensou no Musume - Again, mid 20th century USA setting.
Noir - Got some parts in France and some parts in Italy if I remmember correctly.
Ristorante Paradiso - Benvenuto in Italia

Angel's Egg takes place in a dystopia that looks quite like ruins in an Eastern European country.

Berserk takes place in a medieval Europe-based world.

Book of Bantorra takes place in a European setting as well, though the countries are not of this reality.

DOGS also counts.

First Squad takes place in Russia.

Gankutsuou takes place in futuristic France.

Gauche the Cellist takes place in a European countryside.

Hakushaku to Yousei starts in Scotland, I think, then moves to England.

Haibane Renmei takes place in a European town.

Kino's Journey has Kino visiting very European-like countries.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes is mostly about the descendants of Europeans in Space.

Lupin III: Caste of Cagliostro takes place in a European town as well.

Someone mentioned Noir, but thrown in MADLAX with that.

Princess Arete is set in medieval Europe.

Princess Tutu's settings were modelled after famous German places, I think.

Ristorante Paradiso is set in Italy.

URDA is set in Germany.

Usavich is set in Russia.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust has a lot of influence from all sorts of continents-- America, Europe.

Yugo the Negotiator spends most of its time in European settings.

Chicago? In Europe? Oh really now.

Anyways, pretty much any World Masterpiece Theater series is based on European literature, so they're about as Euro-feeling as it comes.

I've never expected this many of recommendations, thanks all.

I will keep an eye on Fantastic Children, and see if I can recognize anything from the scenery. And of course, Ristorante Paradiso, how could I possibly forget about that one?

I'd really like to watch Baccano, believe me, but the talk of the tremendous gore and violence puts me off a bit. So Hellsing is out of the question as well, sorry. ;p

For the rest, I hope I'll be able to check out;
- Hakushaku to Yousei (Scotland, that's guaranteed for beautiful backdrops.)
- First Squad (Basically everything about the WI and WII intrigues me, so I should watch this, even if the movie isn't that good.)
- Victorian Romance Emma.
- Valkyria Chronicles (It gives off this Swiss feeling.)
- Monster. (According to many, it's supposed to be really something. But again, I don't take violence etc. too well. Hrmmz)

And, I'll definitely check out the rest of all the recommendations, these ones just seem the best fitting for me right now. ;) (Yes, I will once watch the uber epic Princess Tutu.)

And you guys, no one mentioned Nodame Cantabile - Paris Hen and the currently airing Finale.. shame on you :p (The scene where Noda danced on the Champs Elysees, classic ;p )

And this is a show currently scheduled for spring, which I'm really looking forward to: Senkou no Night Raid. It's taking place nowhere near in Europe, but I like the bombastic clash of everything.

Thanks again all for replying.

Allison & Lillia's fantasy setting seems to be based mostly on European and Tsarist Russian locations.

Big O's setting is clearly based on some American city.

Blood+ covers a variety of real world locations, and I'm certain it included both Russia and other European locations.

Cowboy Bebop's many colony locations are also based on real world places, most of which were western.

Devil May Cry seemed to take place in a American city.

El Cazador de la Bruja seemed to play out in mostly middle American places, Mexico or something.

Fullmetal Alchemist's Amstrian civilization seems mostly based on European 1930-40 themes.

Gankutsuou is set in a futuristic France, but still including certain real world places.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (First or second season, I can't recall) had two episodes set in respectively London and a war scarred Germany. The rest is largely Japan and environs, but it's a splendid series anyways.

Golgo 13 features a lot of stuff in America, and quite possibly Europe as well.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes has typical American/western contemporary society reflected in the FPA, while the Empire resembles Prussia.

Mobile Suit Gundam goes through a lot of real world places, from the remains of America to battered European cities. Seems to be the case with the rest of UC Gundam as well.

Princess Tutu's fantasy setting resembles a typical fairytale European town.

Strike Witches is set in a fantasy version of England...In which no one wears pants T__T

Texhnolyze's locations also has a largely Western feel to them.

The Sky Crawlers is set in a alternate history/scifi version of Europe, covering mostly England and Russia.

Trinity Blood is set in a fantasy post apocalyptic scifantasy version of Europe. But I'd rather recommend Hellsing.

Le Chevalier D'Eon - Set in Europe

Revolutionary Girl Utena- While not set in Europe as far as I know, it's VERY French influenced. Also, it's just an amazing classic shoujo series.

Noir is another one, and since you liked Gunslinger Girl you'll probably like this one. I assume GSG was influenced by Noir.

And Howl's Moving Castle, for sure. Based on a British book and it's just an awesome Miyazaki film.

--Such a great show. Now that you mention it, I can see that interpretation but I always saw it as another Japanese "elite academy." While the architecture and sword style is very western, the the shadow puppet vignettes are very Asian, particularly Indonesian. Utena is just . . . . Utena!
