@WaterMage I actually really enjoyed this arc. This was needed to show Gojo's ability to overcome his extreme social anxieties about "not fitting in with others" and understanding that he doesn't have to overextend himself to not burden others, just so others don't have a negative outlook on him. The extreme pressure he puts on himself and ability to overcome that fear was so important to his development. The reaction was similar to in Season 1 when he was first anxious with Marin when measuring her, but he overcomes his embarrassment because he knows how important it is for her. I feel that Season 1 was all about Gojo's interactions with Marin, but Season 2 has been looking into their interactions in the context of the class and other people.
I actually really liked how Cloverworks animated the scene where Gojo is overcoming his anxieties about messing up Marin's makeup in front of the whole class. They state he intentionally picked the sewing room, since no one goes there. Then when everyone starts to show up, he starts to feel the pressure of everyone's expectations and the fear of messing up. He finally steels himself to just getting the job done by slapping both cheeks, taking a deep breath, then he takes off his jacket, loosens his tie, then gets his "game face" on. It's a really cool moment, that shows he is not backing away from the moment where everyone is counting on something that only he can do, even in the face of his own anxieties. Remember, he still feels very much an "outsider" to the class, except for Marin.
Gojo needs to be able to get over his social anxieties. If he wants to feel worthy of being with Marin, he needs to have a sense of self-worth that he's been building this Season. Being able to come through in front of everyone in the class was a big step towards this. Without the class there in the room to see how serious the makeup job is, they may just assume it's something easy to do. The class also acknowledged how cool he was by flat out saying that he was the "star of the show" and they couldn't go to Karaoke without him. They didn't just attribute the "win" all to Marin's stage presence and beauty, which they could have easily done. Marin knows how cool Gojo is, but she appreciates it even more when it's acknowledged by her peers and also gives him the special "shout out" during her time on stage to let the whole school know. Just a lovely episode. My favorite of the whole series.

| @mostholy2 I said that as my personal opinion probably my 2nd least favourite arc after . Nothing wrong with Gojo overcoming his insecurity and weakness but it is done too many times. Always thinking everyone will shun him where they always were super nice. Good charcter growth but overdone. And the interactions with classmates are good and all but in long term unfortunately they are all npc with nothing from their side except just being there. What's good is the cosplay group where there are actual characters that will be good. Next two parts are excellent so hopefully Cloverworks doens't drop the ball. |
| I was surprised they didn't give any internal thoughts of Marin while Gojo was doing her makeup. He had a really serious expression on his face and I want to know what she was thinking. I guess they are used to each other now but I'm sure she must have noticed how stressed he was doing makeup in front of an audience at first before he locked in. |

| My heterosexuality was shaken twice in this episode. First, the scene where Gojo got serious, putting aside his worries so as not to let his friends down and honoring all his hard work. He was so cool in that moment.... And he was just putting on makeup! It was a big step forward for him. And Marin dressing up as Rei. I felt exactly like that girl on the jury: on the verge of a heart attack from sheer excitement. Poor Marin didn't get her solo photo with Gojo. Normally, I'd be annoyed to have her moment interrupted, but her classmates are so nice and supportive of Gojo that I didn't mind at all. I don't know if they'll be more relevant later on, but I hope they'll show up again, especially the girl who helped make the rainbow rose. Her design is very pretty. |

| Animation went bonkers this episode. Gojo was LOCKED IN. Also that scene with Rei coming on stage is amazing. Kitagawa really transformed and took a lot of time to prepare for this, but Gojo is still Gojo. Really nice. |

| Loved the episode! First and foremost, I’m glad Marin won the beauty pageant, really proud of both her and Wakana. Secondly, the makeup scene was absolutely goated, with the way Wakana went into the zone, cutting out all outside distractions and focusing solely on his work. He looked so cool and badass, both in the way he tied up his bandana before getting to work and in how intensely focused he was while doing Marin’s makeup. I honestly wonder how his classmates didn’t comment on either of those things, haha. In any case, good job, Wakana! Speaking of Wakana, the pre-ending scene was super adorable! Wakana giving Marin the stuffed bear he won from the crane game was just the cutest! I bet Marin’s going to cherish that bear for all eternity, haha. Good for you, Marin, I’m super happy for you! |

| Absolute banger of an episode. Cinema! Gojo's world has broaden. The scene where he pulled himself together for Marin after realising what he wants and needs to do was so intense. The whole makeup scene was sick. The entire class was in awe. Marin also pulled the cosplay perfectly and they won. Btw twintail Marin is adorable. Too bad she didn't get to take purikura with Gojou and it turned into all boys instead lol. |

| Wow, I'm almost speechless. This episode was pure cinema in every aspect. Heck, a lot of movies don't reach that kind of quality like this whole arc had. :D Gojo's feelings towards Marin solidify and begin to take shape. It was cute to see him admitting to himself that Marin is not only pretty in general, but beautiful in a special way. Too bad that Marin's plan to take a photo with Gojo and just Gojo didn't work, lol. She has now a photo of several guys. But hey, Gojo is on it too, though it was not Marin's intent. xD |
