Well that's interesting to know. Turns out, Shiroha's family has a lot of responsibilities on that island.

Shiroha also seems to have grown closer to Hairi. Between the two, this arc captures their character bond that I think is really important. Shiroha also seems to trust him now more too.

Umi-chan's shocked reaction to Shiroha's arrival at home was so cute, lol. Umi-chan already accepted Shiroha as her mother? The ping pong table is broken. They are trying to sell some food to buy a new ping pong table, and the ingredients come from the residents of Torishirojima; are they selling paella?

Shiki's appearance is truly surprising, but it's enough that Hairi and Shiroha went on a date outside the island. This is the first time the setting is not on Torishirojima. What’s going on with the shadows of Umi-chan and Shiroha? and also Hairi flashback.

I'm disappointed that there’s no shimmering blue color at the beach; the visuals of the sea are not that beautiful.

Shiroha trying hard to keep others away but she was getting closer to the others this episode.
The date looked nice but the part after that was a bit sad till the main made up his mind.
Looks like things will be hard in the next episode.

So Umi being Shiroha and Hairi’s kid has long since been speculated and I feel like this arc has pretty much confirmed it at this point. She’s a way bigger part of this arc than she’s been in any of the other ones, well at least she has more screentime thus far, and we saw her hair flicker from pink to white.

Shiroha and Hairi’s “date” was really sweet, it’s nice seeing her be so much more expressive in this arc and learning more about all the burdens she’s been silently carrying. We also got more of Hairi’s backstory! So he had started being a bit of a bad boy before he got sent away, hanging with delinquents, staying out late etc and that put stress on his parents’ marriage.. usual teenage shit tbf.

More importantly, we know shiroha can see the future now! No way Hairi was ever going to leave the island after learning that tho. Just knowing the sort of person he is, if anything that only motivated him to get closer to and protect Shiroha. I’m surprised her grandad is so skeptical about cancelling the event tho given their family is so close to supernatural stuff.

Looking forward to what Hairi and Shiroha come up with next

Interesting episode.

Lots of information about Shiroha this episode. That little flash to Shiroha when Umi was sad when Hairi was going somewhere HAS to be something. Is Umi Shiroha? It would kind of makes sense no? Umi is a huge part of this so it would only make sense that she would. Umi is already a big part of Shiroha's arc so. Anyways, it turns out that Shiroha can see the future and because of that knowledge, she knows shes going to die this Summer to drowning. Now I understand why Shiroha was practicing swimming. Hairi gotta do something.

Well if that wasn't a HUGE hint as to who Umi actually is, I don't know what would be.
Can this one escape the usual fate of the girls? Well that is another hint.

Ah yes, that whole 'gathering food' bit was pretty fun to do in the game.
They made Shiroha and Hairi date, one of my favorite moments in the VN, as adorable and fun as I hoped for :)
Hairi's past is finally revealed/explained and now we know why he came to the island, love how naturally he's talking about it to Shiroha.
The ending teases a certain scene of the VN with Shiroha's grandpa, which I now have high hopes of seeing next week.

They're teasing the (first) true route pretty hard at this point, but makes sense as it is the next route and I believe it will help people understand some things better.

I watched the episode while eating. I wasn't really giving much attention!

But I notice a lot of things happened! So I guess I will rewatch it later and give it a proper comment!

Update:
Now I understand why I wasn't paying much attention while eating—it's the dialogues... yes, the dialogues lack logic. Let me explain what I mean. For example, in Takahara Haeri's backstory, when he failed at swimming and then received a message—probably from his family—asking him to come back home, he said they're good people and they never mistreated him. He just feels like a failure himself. Then he said he wouldn’t return and would stay on the island instead… Why? Because he wants to find out how to spend the summer with Shiroha. That’s not a convincing reason!

Wait, wait, before you write a reply to my comment—I see you, the one who's about to explain to me Takahara’s motivations and all that—yes, I get that the reason he came to the island is to find out how to enjoy summer. But what I find illogical is: what do his parents have to do with this? His past? Shiroha? His aunt? His grandmother whose storehouse he came to clean? Umi? None of these people are connected in a meaningful way, so the story feels weirdly written. Like, if your parents contact you asking you to come home, you reply directly and explain your reason to stay—not go talk to Shiroha about it! What does she have to do with that?

This anime, across all arcs, seriously lacks logical writing! I know it's adapted from a game, and I get that the fast-paced romance can be expected in that format, but it’s still too much to ask me to believe that in every arc, the entire story, characters, and setting change completely as if I’m watching a new anime each time.

I’ve written a lot, and honestly, I’m not even satisfied with this comment. I feel like I’m just trying to justify my frustration with the show however I can. The episode overall, and Shiroha’s storyline with the “hibernation” and her weird, muscular grandpa who didn't even donate himself to help her, and so many other things—I just couldn’t accept them at all.

Not excited for Shiroha’s arc, or for next week’s episode either.

But I’ll leave you with two frames, because the scene where the aunt hugs Umi like that—was just too good.

WTH did Tenzen do to to the pool table?

You do not like your prophesied fate, Siroha? Accept the help of a doombreaker, or become one yourself.

So Umi is Siroha's blood, as well at Hairi's, and has some power over time. That gives a strong implication.

Yeah, they over shortened that thread and left out important information, but it is not very hard to fill in the blanks about him generally lashing out and spiraling down in frustration, and then wanting to get away for a well for a reboot.

Dude stress out and cost the match > feel guilty and quit > get frustrated and become delinquent (But not level of doing drug) > parent blame each others since they have high expectation from him > family start to fall apart > use the death of his grandma as an excuse to 'escape' and come to the island.

Something like that.

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

Finally some good flippin' food for this family. The first since "Takahara-san" Umi.

It's so nice to see more of the gang and them taking an active role in the story similar to Ao route. Shiki jumpscare was appreciated.

The date was also a really good scene with plenty of light foreshadowing while enjoying a relaxing slice-of-life moment before the serious part comes.

If you're still playing Key bingo then remember to cross off "Delinquent/Troubled/Bad Boy Protagonist" from your card. We already knew Hairi got the yips from Kamome arc and we now find out it led to him playing truant which led to problems at home and at school once everything was found out. Which is why he went to the island to just get away from it all for a bit.

This route is by far the shortest in the vn so for possibly the first time this series the episode actually feels pretty slow. Next episode we'll get to see something pretty fun with gramps.

I really enjoyed seeing Hairi and Shiroha having a nice day out on the mainland which was a bit of a surprise. While the plan to eat out at the nice cafe didn't work out, they still had fun with eating sweets and also doing a bit of bowling.

However, this episode also got Shiroha to open up more about her "powers" of seeing the future and why seeing the poster for the upcoming festival worries her a lot. Not only did Hairi succeeded in having her want his help, but he also told her about his past and how he ended up coming to Torishirojima in the first place. I think this is also the most in-depth look of his past that we've seen of Hairi so far, which does show him getting into trouble with the police and his parents getting into a heated argument with each other. It does make more sense for his reasons for visiting the island to get away from the chaos back home.

Now his main objective is to convince Shiroha's grandfather that he has what it takes. Whatever challenge he has to do, hopefully Hairi will succeed at it.

It has been a long time since I've played this arc, so I am enjoying how some of it feels new again. Kind of mad they didn't include the shop owner being a hilariously snide person, but that's fine.

Pacing feels better because Shiroha route is shorter iirc. I wish the whole series could have been paced this well.

Not a fan of some of the telegraphing/hints the director is giving for what will happen next, but regardless, a very solid episode. Next one is going to be good. Probably my favorite part from Shiroha's route!!

Big reveals in this one. So Hairi became a bad boy after he screwed up things with the swim team, which in turn caused issues within his family, which takes us to Hairi going to the island, nice to see pretty much all of Hairi’s backstory is out in the open now. And another big thing was Shiroha being able to see the future, particularly bad things, I think this is cool but I wish we could get more than one example of her seeing a bad future, because apparently the one time she tried preventing it she failed, and the kid didn’t even die, so I’m thinking it’s unlikely Shiroha is actually gonna die here, best to be safe than sorry tho of course.

But one thing does rub me the wrong way a bit, and it’s that this situation is quite preventable, so okay maybe Shiroha still has to do the priestess role because of the old fella, so why not give her a lifejacket underneath the robes or something, hell give her water wings even lol, idk I just feel like this supposed death of hers could be set up a bit better, but I do still like this plot development. Plot stuff aside, I really liked the SoL stuff here, it’s nice seeing more involvement with the friend group like during the food stand bit, the “date” between Shiroha and Hairi was really sweet as well, a shame it ended the way it did but it was still a good time overall.

Also, Hairi saw Shiroha in Umi, hmmm I wonder what that might signify lol. And they teased that red haired girl again, this time in full, it’s funny seeing VN players react her but I’m curious as to what her role is in the story, if she ever stops being an easter egg then maybe we’ll find out lol.

Hmm, they're teasing a connection between Shiroha and Umi and my guess is that Shiroha may be her mother... but that would have quite a few implications if that's true. Beyond that Shiroha and Hairi had an outing and now Hairi has to prove to her grandpa that he can protect her, thinking Hairi may have to do a feat of strength so swimming would work.

That was a nice date segment.
Oh and pause Hairi, you did not just recommend a sexy red dress to Shiroha on your FIRST DATE!

And what was that with Umi supposedly reminded Hairi of Shiroha. They are no longer being subtle so please keep it coming!

Lastly...THE SAND IS TRICKLING UPWARDS!? It was that way last episode as well but I only noticed just now. Wonder what could that mean.

God I love Shiroha, other heroines something felt a bit off with their VN counterparts cause of shorter pace but Shiroha is just as perfect as the VN. It is only now setting in on me how much I dread (in a good way) re-experiencing Alka and Pocket

I just discovered apparently at the last Key event in May (along with ASCA performing the OP for Key's next VN "anemoi") Konomi Suzuki performed a new OP for the anime meaning it's either for the movies or more likely the OP for Alka and Pocket. Wish I could find some footage for both of those cause now I'm excited for the new OP and already was for anemoi

@TheColonel76 Yeah at first the situation seems really easy to stop until that scene actually happens - there is a very good reason for it that is almost completely out of their control and also is foreshadowing for something a little later in the story.

Red hair girl is not important at all... in the original game cause she doesn't exist. Reflection Blue added her in and she easily has the best heroine route in the game that then also ties into RB's updated ending and develops a lot more lore for the island and some for Ao and Shiroha's family but would need an entire arc for herself.

@KanekoKTIA Yeah it makes sense that there would be more to it, I’ll wait until the event actually happens before I think of more ways it could have been stopped.

I heard she was a Reflection Blue thing, that sounds really interesting tho, so that makes me wonder if they’ll end up doing anything with her in this anime or not.

How did the table get destroyed like that lmao. Whoa they were setting something up a date with Shiroha and Hairi to go in a date off the island o:. Hairi made the convo awkward for a bit when they were talking about showing Shiroha around but he saved it lol.

Shiroha remembered(?) something ominous and there seems to be a connection with that watch, oofer. Getting more abouf Hairi's situation was nice too, it really got hectic. Oh so she got future sight, and we now know the reason why she was practicing her swimming skills. I wonder, did her future vision really show them two dying though? Coz maybe it was just the moment without the aftermath. Surely they'll both be fine afterwards.

Hairi definitely was gonna say he maybe likes Shiroha at the end lol.

Hello! I hope you're doing well and in good health. I truly appreciate the time you took to explain many things, some of which I personally admit I didn’t fully understand.

I’d like to respectfully clarify my point of view—perhaps you’ll understand me better, and maybe we can find some common ground, who knows.

First, to justify myself, in the very first line of my comment I stated that I wasn’t really focused on the episode, and after rewatching it I still wasn’t satisfied. That shows I’m not deeply invested in the anime and don’t pay close attention to the dialogue. I also mentioned in the comment that I wasn’t happy with what I originally wrote, which shows that I was writing in a moment of frustration. If you look closely at the comment, I was speaking in very general terms—the main thing I wanted to express was that I was watching a 25-minute episode, 17 minutes of which were filled with empty conversations about love and “I’ll save you” and so on. This is the fourth arc where we’re hearing the same boring dialogue, just told in different ways.

Now let me respond to each point you brought up to clarify my position more:

Lastly, I know you probably love the anime and are a fan of it! But I’m not. And I don’t mean to insult the anime just because I didn’t understand it, or to tell people not to watch it based on my own misunderstandings. The thing is, this is the 16th week in a row I’ve been watching an episode—of course I’ll forget minor details in each one. Also, half the dialogues in the anime feel unimportant and are written pretty poorly in general.

Maybe you’re someone who loves the anime, or you’ve read the novel, or played the game, or whatever the case may be. Or maybe you’re not even watching it weekly. I completely agree that you understand the story and its dialogue way better than I do. But I hope you can understand why I feel bored! Sixteen weeks of hoping for an exciting episode, and instead I get an arc that just repeats the previous one… it’s honestly disappointing, and it makes you follow the anime without truly caring about the story, the characters, or the messages it’s trying to deliver to you as a viewer.

Thank you again for your time and your kindness! I wish you happy days and hope you enjoy the anime to the fullest. I also apologize for my mistakes. Thank you so much.

Firstly it's not really an interpretation if it's Key themselves putting it into marketing/promotional material - which it is - but 99% of people will never see them so no fault on that whatsoever.

Secondly - I don't suppose you've ever helped anyone out of the kindness of your heart? You're kind of missing the forest for the trees here if you believe every single action of a character must be driven by an immaculately well-thought out and well-presented theme that is beautifully woven into a complex narrative. Boring - yes, but also the norm not just in fiction but also in, you know, real life. Heck one of my biggest takeaways from AoButa (one of your favs I see) is that Sakuta helps others
because he himself was saved by
during one of his lowest moments in life and so thus kept that memory very close and dear to his heart. So he helps the girls in AoButa because he doesn't want them to feel how awful he felt during his bad times. Similar thing here but played on a much smaller scale and in a different note so to say. In this anime the theme of the girls helping him realise himself plays a much more major role (Key aren't known for subtle on their themes trust me).

Snide sarcasm from both parties aside I do hope you continue watching anime and meeting people in real life with a clearer mindset that people can be quite selfless and kind for even the smallest of reasons.

😂, you can't just take one of my favorite anime and build an argument around it. Just because it's one of my favorites doesn't mean it's because of Sakuta. In fact, Sakuta isn't even one of my favorite characters to begin with.

And if you're basing things on Sakuta, look at the second season—you'll see that he avoids everyone, and he doesn't show his emotions to anyone. In the very first episode, it's very clear that he's disliked by many and even gets into fights with other students. So if we're going to bring in another anime like that, we've already drifted from the original topic.

As for helping someone without reason, I know that happens, I'm not denying it—but I'm saying it's boring when portrayed in an entertainment work! I watch anime to escape reality and enjoy something entertaining. When I say “logical writing,” I don’t mean realistic, I mean convincing at the very least!

Also, "help" varies in how it's defined. For example, if you and I are walking down the street and someone asks for directions, of course we'll help. Then let’s say another person comes and says, “Hey, help me move furniture into my house”—maybe you’d help him. But someone interfering in someone else's life and saying, “I’ll dedicate my life to helping you”? That’s completely unrealistic.

Takahara left everything and went to Shiroha, making it clear that helping her came before anything else. He devoted 100% of his time and effort to her—and that’s dumb, even in real life.

Honestly, I don’t want to derail too far from the main point. My long message was just to say that I’m frustrated with the anime. I wish it were better—more creative, with stronger dialogue and a better plot! I’m not saying it has to be complex…

But don’t you agree this is like the fourth arc where we’re just seeing the same scene, just with different girls?

I just want you to focus on the core reason for my frustration. Everything else we discussed—those are just differences in perspective.

Thank you for having this conversation with me and taking the time to write. I really appreciate hearing your opinion, and I wish you wonderful days ahead! I also hope my discussion and comments didn’t ruin your experience watching Summer Pockets.

Oh I like this! Group activity! (wish it were longer tho). They opened a stall to earn money but in the end they didn't even needed it lol, but thanks to that Hairi and Shiroha were able to go on a date outside the island!

I thought Hairi just ran away from failing in a swimming competition, but it's more than that, he quit school and became a problem child. Looking at how lively he is in the island really feels different.

Shiroha comments how Umi-chan is similar to Hairi and Hairi saw Shiroha to Umi-chan, this just strengthens the theory that she's their daughter or something?? So Umi-chan is probably preventing Shiroha's death that's why she's doing the loop??? Now that's weird coz if Shiroha died there then they wouldn't even be together and uh if Shiroha lived then Umi-chan wouldn't even have to save her so uhhh, what the helly. Or she could be from a possible future, huh.

So the reason Shiroha is practicing to swim is so that she can avoid that future. I am still waiting for Umi-chan reveal.

Anyways, Hairi wanting to be together with Shiroha in the festival feels like they're walking right through their fates, that is definitely the set up to what Shiroha saw, but he has to be there to protect her.

Can't believe we still have 10 episodes left.

Honestly, your words are convincing—you’ve mostly persuaded me. Even though I still don’t find the show particularly enjoyable or a favorite of mine, your explanations made things clearer and easier to understand than watching the anime itself!

Thank you for your time and for making my experience with this anime better! That’s what I love about this site: the friendly exchange of thoughts and experiences.

Wishing you a happy day full of smiles!

Shiroha is actually a lot cuter than I initially thought now that we’re getting to learn more about her.

Of course Shiroha is gonna disappear too at the end of this route 🥲🤯 you already know

@llcrazyacell I'm holding out hope this will end up either having more discussion once the OP changes - which we know it will, Konomi Suzuki performed it at a KSL (Key Sounds Label) event in May and we get the major reveal with the story becoming much more emotional with the AIR mixed with Clannad After Story and some of it's own things direction the story takes. Or it gets good word of mouth after the show ends because that last arc would be hard to screw up and it is almost up there with Clannad AS imo. Otherwise it's going to end up like Little Busters! where it's just fondly remember by those who watched it but no random person on the streets would know it

Ah, maybe! I’m not sure… but I’ll speak for myself.

I’m fluent in three languages, including Arabic and English. But my writing process on this site isn’t exactly direct.

First, I write the text I want to say in formal Arabic — not in dialect — meaning I use proper, standard language rather than colloquial speech.

Second, I translate the text, either manually or with the help of ChatGPT.

Third, I review the translated text to make sure it expresses my thoughts accurately.

Fourth, I use Microsoft Word or the comment box here to format and polish the text to make it as clear and well-presented as possible.

Fifth, if needed, I add emojis or search for relevant images to make the comment more engaging. Some people assume my replies are AI-generated, but the truth is, I personally choose the emojis and organize the text myself. I only use AI to help translate words that are difficult for me.

Why do I do this?
First, because I want to express what’s in my mind accurately, and I take great pride in my native language.
Second, because it improves my English. I genuinely learn tons of new vocabulary every day. Searching for the right terms and practicing translations really helps strengthen my language skills.

As for making the text sound formal, the truth is: I love this platform and love using it. I want it to be a positive space where we can exchange opinions respectfully and enjoy the conversation! Wishing others a good day is part of that — it’s my way of thanking them for spending time reading and responding to my comments.

So this is my style!
And I truly wish you a wonderful day as well — may your smile never fade! 😊

@llcrazyacell Unfortunately, we are in a time where few understand the importance of slow rhythms that make sense over time and prefer easier things, whether good or bad. They are doing the same with Lord of Mysteries. But I still have hope that engagement will increase when Alka and Pocket arrive, since they are arcs that are highly praised by those who know them, and they put SP at a much higher level, and it will have the value it deserves. I bet that if Steins Gate were also released today, it would be criticized and not very engaged, since the story starts slow and only begins to unfold in the second part. But I still have hope that SP becomes as relevant as Kaoru Hana this season. Now, saying that seems crazy and impossible, but only the true routes will tell the fate of SP.

@KanekoKTIA I hope it becomes more popular when all this makes sense, I'm sad that the peak of Key's anime is only Clannad After story without any competitor at its height for decades, SP has a lot of potential to become one of the best anime of 2025, I hope many still return to see the masterpiece that it will become.

@llcrazyacell

Depends! Roughly less than 2 minutes to reply, and 10 minutes sometimes if I want to write a long comment.

and 1-3 hours per episode to write a long thread like these two.

and 30 mins for making short threads.
