We're finally done with Germany and are off to England once more!

I can sense something interesting is coming, especially after Undertaker's "the other one" comment. Sebastian's face told me everything we needed; this is something not even the one hell of a butler is aware.

This episode gets bonus points for the return of Grell! My fair lady in red, how I've missed you.
I guess it's pay to play

She already has long hair, welp and there goes her hair, character development off the charts.

That ending! Elizabeth's here, been waiting for this. Boy this'll be amusing.

Chill episode and am actually glad we are getting to see these stuff happening. Gotta appreciate when a story gives proper epilogue instead of abruptly being done with it as soon as the battle ends.

We finally got to see Grelle again! We also finally learned how Grim Reaper's come to be in this universe.

We also got to see Sulivan's new look.
All in all a good wind down episode from the climax of the season

I don't think so. I assume she was very young, maybe 5-6y old when Wolfram broke her feet (it was shown in flashback she didn't undergo binding from very young age as was common). she is 11 now, so she lives like that half of her life. the muscles and nerves are probably too damaged and shrunk to return back.

Is no one going to talk about the fact that we FINALLY have the reference in the anime of Alan and Eric?? God I FREAKED when I saw the shot!!

I’m also really happy that both Sullivan AND Wolf survived, because truly, he was just as much a captive as she was, and now they both get to experience freedom together!!

Also, we love a guest appearance of our favourite Grim Reapers William and Grelle!! Love that duo haha.

The Emerald Witch Arc has truly been amazing, and with even more hints dropped of the biggest plot twist of Black Butler, I squeal in excitement for the next arc, in which I have no idea what’s to come because I really haven’t been that up to date otherwise 😅

Grell and William make their appearance! Cool to see them again, even for just a brief moment.

An overall chill and funny episode. Sullivan with her short hair looks adorable.

Liz appears again as well! Will be interesting to see her interactions with Sullivan.

SAMEEE that surprised me so much!!! Wild that I found out about them and their story literally yesterday when an anime channel streamed the 2013 version of the musical on YT, and then they just happen to get a cameo in the show right after. It's so cool to get confirmation that even though it's a stage-only side story, their existence and what happened to them is still actually part of the main canon!! Not a lot of series do that as far as I've seen.

Sooooo happy to see my girl Grell again after all this time <33 And William too I guess /lh
I hope we get more Grim Reaper lore eventually, especially regarding the characters we know, super interesting to learn that that's how they're "created".

They're really dropping hints left and right. It makes me wonder if they were there all along and I'm only noticing them now, or they were added to the adaptation. It makes me want to re-read this arc.

I'm so glad they added the bit when Sullivan cut her hair this episode.

yes but the first thing ti do is get rid of those trauma filled torture devices lol.
even if she doesn't recover as long as she can put both feet on the ground without major pain its a win. also ik this is fantasy but contrary to popular belief, feet bound chinese woman could actually walk and even work in the fields but with alot of limitations, yes its a bit tortuous but yhe human boyd adapts and disperses the weight inder the new structure of feet. id love to see Fran regaining her ability to walk even if limited

@Alex_the_reaper I mean, shoes aside, I feel the need to reiterate that it's not just feet binding that makes her unable to walk... Wolfram was literally ordered to cripple her by physically crushing her feet. And then binding on top of that. I can sympathize with wanting her to change shoes, for her mental health if nothing else, but as far as walking goes I don't think that will be in the cards.

Also shame on me for not recognizing Eric and Alan until I saw the discussions here, though it's probably been well over a decade since I watched that musical. There should be a place for legal/good quality streaming of the stage performances imo, maybe right on Crunchyroll like the series here, like what was done for the Chainsaw Man festival.

that is exactly what I meant. her bones were broken, tendons damaged. how can you walk with that without crutches? I believe Sieglinde still is in pain, she just has to manage somehow.
although, human body can be marvelous. in Africa, in some countries they still cut off parts of girls genitalia in preschool age without any anesthesia. and those who survive, live - they can even have children later. but they don't live without pain. pain became their everyday feeling.

So this episode is notable for 2 things.

First is I have finally caught up and am ready for the last episode of the season coming soon in a few days. I can't wait. But this also means I didn't get to watch the dubbed version.

Secondly, it started WITHOUT an interminably long recap! HUZZAH!

It starts with Grim reaper Sacha recounting Hilde's death, then waxing poetic about politics, war and the possibility of LOADS more work! We find out Grim reapers are created from those who have committed suicide, who are then "working off their sins" by collecting the souls of others who desperately want to live. Yikes.

Hey, William and Grell arrive! Whoo! Grell's insane over bubbliness takes over heh. There's a bunch of banter, about the war, not everyone wants to work overtime, Sascha! In that banter is references to the walking dead from Book of The Atlantic and the Public School Arc, that have yet to appear in Germany. William also reminds them to share with the English Branch any information about that deserter, The Undertaker, before leaving. OMFG can he stop bullying Grell with his scythe!

Non manga reader here: Who are the 2 deserters in the picture??

The gang arrives at Diedrich's castle to be greeted by Heimlich. Good lord, is there anything more pretentious than some snobby butler! When Finn admires how large the hall is, he just has to say "It's one of several castles, Oh this old castle? It's positively tiny compared to master's other castles" while they parade 20 servants who appear like magic.

They get medical treatment, and Ciel gets Sebastian to wash his hair. Sigh. I wish.

It seems Diedrich has seen The Undertaker, who he wasn't aware was involved with that incident on The Book Of The Atlantic. The Undertaker mentions he hasn't seen Diedrich since (Vincent's?) funeral in England. Who shed a tear when he saw Vincent's picture, commenting that he was burned down to his bones, there's no coming back from that. What? Hmm. Why? Is he part of the family or something because he's hella good looking just like Vincent was. But there's the other Earl Phantomhive, does he mean Ciel??

As a non manga reader I am lost here ...

Their musings are interrupted by Heimlich announcing dinner. As they head down they see Sieglinde pigging out like she hasn't ever eaten. Sebastian is given the task to teach her manners before Tea with the Queen.

Ciel admonishes Wolf for almost dying and leaving them to take care of Sieglinde. She makes an impassioned speech saying she abandoned him too, that whole sequence is set to beautiful instrumental Piano heightening the emotion and pathos. Just ... beautifully done.

Ciel bids farewell to Diedrich, they're bound for interesting times. As an Englishman and a German, if war breaks out we know they're not going to be on the same side.

Sieglinde has the "oooh, aaah" face seeing new wonders on the train, steamship and in England.

Finally it's dress making make over time as they visit Hopkins Dress store to some cringe over the top welcome. Yikes! Then Miss Hopkins appears fawning over Ciel, ignoring Sebastian and moving straight to Sieglinde. She pronounces Sieglind's outfit the wrong fabric for summer, with plain colors and poor workmanship clearly foisted on her by someone stuffy old person with outdated tastes (Sebastian who did it under crisis) also ndirectly saying of COURSE she can do better! When Sebastian says it's for presentation to the queen, the artiste's imagination runs wild and she drags Sieglinde away as her assistants measure Wolf, LMAO! Sieglind sees pictures and requests a favor.

Sebastian is happy the clothes are taken care of, and mentions they just need a good coiffure, thank god Sieglinde has nice long hair when she appears, with her new short hairstyle.

You know that doesn't surprise me in the least. Whenever a woman wants to make a big change, they usually cut their hair to celebrate the new them. Breakup, divorce, loss of job .. cut hair to declare independence. So Sieglinde doing so is nothing outrageous.

We'll see next week what happens with The Queen. Frankly I don't trust her, as I'm sure she's involved with the Zombies and The Undertaker from Book Of The Atlantic and the Public School Arc. Surely Ciel isn't stupid enough not to know something is up, by now? He's already taken some steps to protect himself.

Classic Grell moment, always the same XD grim reapers have work for days with the Phantomhive business.

Suicides are they key huh 🤔 steady supply of reapers then

This is all basically aftermath now ✍️ the hard work has already been done.

Sebas out here really poking Ciel on his height XD I mean, he does hardly change there.

Undertaker knows all 👀

At least Sullivan is nice 🙏 stay together forever

Okay so those who have no idea who Alan and Eric is, there are musicals. And although those musicals vaguely follow the main story, the 2nd musical was sort of a stand alone. Alan and Eric were the main characters in that. They are reapers and their story ended in tragedy. Alan got sick, Eric tried to save him with unethical methods, but Alan stopped him. They wanted to leave the job, but then Eric accidentally killed Alan, and then Eric in his agony asked Sebastian to kill him (Eric) too. That is the glimpse we see. I highly recommend watching the musical (the first version especially). There's an easily searchable drive somewhere with most musicals including fansub 👀 (I recommend the first version of this musical. Look for The Most Beautiful Death In The World)
Anywho the glimpse of Alan and Eric was a nod to the musical.

So we learnt how grim reapers come to be. I had always wondered about them

In the bath scene, we can see Ciel without his bangs, incredible.

Undertaker's reaction to the photo, wtf?

"German is too conspicuous in Great Britain" Sebastian says, I wonder what queen victoria's primary language is xD

Looks like Sullivan has coped with all of the past events by... cutting her hair short and using bangs, LOL

That's interesting to know if you commit suicide you become a shinigami. My question would be, can they retain their previous life's memories? I think that girl did but I'm not sure if also the case for all of them!

Also, Is it me or was the undertaker also part of that photo where ciel's father and uncle were sat next to two other guys. I can't remember from last season if they told us who the other two in the picture were. Its just, crying over the picture seems like you have to have a really close relationship with that person to do that, plus the kid on the top left has grey hair like undertaker, so I won't rule out that possibility. Still it would be very insteresting if this is the case.

I have a feeling this season could have ended in the previous episode.
Obviously... Trying to conclude properly.
From my perspective, it's as if this is dragging on a bit from now on.
But whatever, it's good to see what else is going to happen from here on out.
It's interesting to learn more about the shinigami lore in this anime.
Undertaker visiting Diederich to mock him was a bit funny, I won't lie.
Well, that visit to England looked dynamic. Even with a haircut.
What else will happen before the end?
