| Welp, it turned out Rose is the one that was behind the events and this finale somewhat made her the antagonist. I wish I cared more about Rose but her lack of character development made it feel lackluster. It's one of those episodes where Beryl is trying to do the right thing again so nothing new really. He's back to being a good role model again in this episode. Season 2 Announced |

| Okay, damn, I did not expect Beryl to actually pierce his sword through the girl, what the fuck... Though, all got resolved peacefully in the end, because ofc it did. Wish the the fight would've last longer though, would've wanted to see that CGI in action one last time. Rest of the episode is just setup... for what you ask, I mean, this is the final episode after all. Welp, that's where you'd be wrong because it was already leaked that a season two for this was in the works a while back, so the setup makes sense, I guess. It's not meaningless like a lot of other shows do for their finales, so it's fine. Doesn't mean I was engaged or anything ofc, but yeah. Overall this show was like the definition of alright. It's super monotonous and dull and times, but the amazing CGI makes up for it... somewhat. As long as season two keeps it up with that CGI, bring it on. |

| Lucy being the clear culprit since the assassins come to take Prince Glenn's life, and Beryl's position on stopping her on doing the wrong thing, two different extremes on two very different outcomes, both student and teacher have to go at it to resolve their feud. And as much as Beryl would not want to face his own student, he has to make his statement through his swordsmanship, for the student who's protecting innocent childrens' lives at the orphanage against Hinnis. And for Beryl to fill in the pizzle for Rose to shake her belief in the Church, it's clear that apart from Bishop Reveos, the Pope himself is the entral figure in all of this. At least the job of rounding up the assassins is long due done, and though Allucia is invited by the King for a state banquet, Beryl's name is on the summon list too, and him being uncomfortable on the round table of hotshots, the pleasure has always been others to begin with. That said, Allucia finally getting the King to acknowledge Beryl as a master swordsman sure invokes her achievement, and nothing feels like home than with Mewi. The old backwater man still has aways to go before becoming a Master Swordsman, it'll take time to come for that. And we don't have to wait long before Season 2 comes back next year for more Ossan exploits, we'll see by then. |

| Fairs, this show really grew on me as it went on. I always “liked” it, but I really came to love it once Mewi got introduced. “I think you praising me is even better than being praised by the king” Out of all the accomplishments, meeting old students, conspiracy plots, etc., Beryl becoming a dad to Mewi was the best part of the show to me. One of the most wholesome fantasy shows recently. Glad we got through the finale without anyone dying. I was worried Rose would have to die, but luckily she was just being manipulated by the Pope. He and Reveos make me fucking sick, preying on kids and manipulating good people like this for your own selfish ends is unforgivable. Hopefully someone takes him out at some point. Sorry Beryl, you’re never beating the master swordsman allegations. I felt so happy for him being recognised by the king! Notice how Allucia is way more excited than he is to hear him called “master swordsman” 😂 poor fella was totally lost with royal decorum too lol. That ending was sooo good. No matter how many accolades he gets, Beryl’s just a simple man at heart who wants to spend time with his daughter and eat a nice simple meal. Something irl dads can learn a thing or two from! Great finale, really good show. Excited for season 2 |

| Not surprised it was Rose she always seemed suspicious. Quite happy this has got a second season has it was a fun show to watch. |
| So Rose was partially forced to work for them and partially believed them as well but well whatever she now knows the truth and is going to atone. Beryl got more praise, from the king this time. Allucia was actually crying wow. Not much to write about this one. It was okay, the girls were cute and that's about it. Season 2 was announced, that's nice as well. |

| And so we end with stopping Rose and the assassination attempt and dining with the king. I enjoyed this series enough to give it a solid 7/10. What stood out to me the most about it was the way Beryl's "power level" so to speak was handled. Everyone around him seemed to hype him up while he downplayed his own abilities. I often see a similar trope of false modesty with overpowered MCs but this is a rare instance I can think of where it seemed to be played straight in that both camps have a point. Beryl's hype men are right in that he does win important fights, but he's right in that he usually doesn't win them easily. And sometimes he even seems outmatched like with the magic woman whose name escapes me, or very close to being outmatched like in some of his bouts with students. It's an interesting dynamic I don't see too often, as said. I'm curious where the balancing act will tip going forward so I'd certainly watch a season 2 if it came. Hopefully with less 3D CG models during fights and more Surena for no particular reason at all whatsoever...well, maybe two. EDIT: Good, I see season 2 is confirmed! |
| So, Rose was not really evil after all, just manipulated and pressured. Glad to see Beryl talked some sense into her, but on the other hand the ending of the episode felt a little bit ominous for her. Ahah, Allucia manipulated talked the king into calling Beryl 'master swordsman' and then into making sure he stays close to her in the city. Awww, one last Mewi/Beryl scene, it was as adorable as always. Overall, very very good show imo: lots of good and fun characters (Beryl himself of course, but also Allucia, Mewi, Surena, Ficelle,...), a fairly original and pretty cute plot ('old' sword master gets to meet his former students and to see how accomplished they've become), some decent action, plenty of comedy to like, some adorable parenting moments in the second half... Easily one of my favorites of the season, and you can be sure I'm looking forward to the second season, can't wait to see these guys again :) |

| Well that is the end to this anime. The animation and sword-fighting choreography were good, I can't fault the studio for that. However the actual story was very amateurish and simple and that does take away from my overall enjoyment. It is because of this writing that I am not interested in following up on this story, though of course if there is a second season I'd probably watch it. 7/10 for the sword porn, would swing again. edit: turns out it will get a second season next year so I'll guess I'll see all you sword enthusiasts then o/ |

| So Rose was being manipulated but she also believed the word of the Pope without question including the false rumor about Bishop Reveos. At least she has another chance at redeeming herself although she and her step-brother have some guys after them, probably sent to put her down after her mission failed. Regarding the dinner Beryl had with Allucia at the palace, I felt that the other characters that protected the royal carriage should've been there too, oh well. I really enjoyed this series as a whole and I liked how the story progressed with Beryl joining Allucia as a special instructor, later on adopting Mewi, and eventually having a meal with the king after protecting the princess. The animation was great and I also liked the character designs. I don't have much criticism other than to say that sometimes things went a bit slow at times but otherwise it was a very good watch. I'm looking forward to season 2! ✌️ 8/10 |
| Great episode, not an expert, but in general the sword fights here looked quite realistic and yes adoring when the main characters leaves monologues, listening to Beryl was interesting, and yes all the girls look great, excellent students he picked up. |
| We got our final battle, which was Rose, misled by the worst enemy of history: The church So, she got disciplined by her master. Sometimes, that's all it takes to "convert" someone who gets blinded by that foe. I can't say I wasn't disappointed about Beryl not leaving the "old-man" message at the end of this episode. After all, old man Beryl got quite a lot of attention after his actions, even after that plot twist of a plot twist that was Rose's story. Perhaps the message is rather simple: The peaceful life is the best one, especially if you're old. Great story. I still wanted some Pope getting disciplined by the teacher, but I guess this is all that fits in 12 episodes. Edit: Oh! There's a 2nd season coming. So that's good then. |

| I really liked this series, a proper not-isekai fantasy with funny vibes and all adorable girls, Allucia and Curuni in particular. I'm glad that a S2 has been announced yet. |

| I started this series out of curiosity, an old man as the MC, why not. I ENJOYED Master Beryl's laid back adventure. Its something about this series that relaxes me. Season 2 will be promising, I hope to see Master Beryl's father swordmanship. |

| Big surprise. I just watched all the episodes - truly a great experience. The sword fights definitely deserved peak sakuga. It’s a shame the staff didn’t have top-tier animators for the action scenes. You can tell they poured their hearts into it, but it’s sad to see CGI used in moments that could have made the show really stand out. I love it. And meeting Lucy was a special pleasure ❤️  |
| I'm glad they didn't have to kill Rose. I liked the ending, I was not hoping for a second season annoucement so soon tho, but anyway, it was a good anime. I'll be watching the second season when it comes just so I can see more of Allucia, Mewi and specially Lucy |

| Good ending, was surprised when he actually cut down rose. Mewi needed more screen time. I ship her and beryl fr fr. wish he wasn't such a putz and knew his standing in the kingdom 4/5 overall. |
| I hadn't noticed that this was the final episode. Ficelle needed WAY more screen time. It was cute how Beryl liked Mewi's food and compliments more than those from the king. |

| Somehow I wanted Rose to get punished a bit harder for her betrayal, but I guess it was quite clear that he would go easy on his former student. I guess now the king really took notice of him and things will get even busier in the future. This show was certainly the surprise of the season for me. Initially I wasn't even planning to watch it, but I saw the fighting scene from episode 1 and decided to try it. And oh boy, what a good decision this was. Mixture of 2D and CGI in the fighting scenes was done almost perfectly and even outside of that the animation and art were great. Protagonist was really likable and never seeemed unrealistic, a nice change for such a show. Only downside was the obvious harem-like side-cast of former students, all female for obvious reasons. Overall I still enjoyed this a lot though and I'm really looking forward to season 2. 8/10 |

| This last episode was so peak! Straight up 10/10 for me! Love how well choreographed the fight between Beryl and Rose seemed and how the stakes felt grounded in reality. Despite there being magic in this world, I cannot express how awesome it is that a major fight like this is able to shine even without the use of it. Also like how the issue with Rose was able to be resolved without her having to be killed. Tbh I initially dismissed watching this anime cuz of it's title (reminded me of the Last Dungeon Boonies Kid anime). But after watching Youtuber Shadevirsity overanalyse and praise the somehwat realistic swordsmanship utilised in this anime, I finally decided to give a shot and am really happy that I did. Sure there are some annoying generic anime tropes here and there but a lot of things also felt fresh or better handled than in other anime of the same kind (like the fact that the mc isn't aware of how strong he actually is, isn't so on the nose and he isn't insanely overpowered either. Just got good basic sword skills, that's all.) All in all I thoroughly enjoyed this anime and I'm happy that it's getting a season 2!! |

| @Gator I feel ya! I too was initially on the fence about watching this anime. Super happy I did tho. Also couldn't agree more with your take! Especially the part about the CGI and 2D mix in battle! As for the harem, definitely the only downside of this otherwise solid anime, but I like that even tho he had so many female students, there seems to only really be two who want something from him romantically. |

| When it comes to pure enjoyment, this one hit the mark for me. Definitely watching S2. Didn't find characters annoying; most are cute and enjoyable to see. CGI was well implemented as well. Really a surprise show. Wasn't planning on watching this initially, but decided to check it for the heck of it. Didn't disappoint. P.S Love the ED! |
