Oh yeah! I love how this show sneakily references characters like Deathstroke, Deadpool, avengers and so forth. It's kinda funny.

SMH one little punch, one little set back and Stain is off the deep end like it's a high dive competition and he is going for gold. I am honestly disappointed. At the very least I expected him to keep it together until the season climax.
On the other hand I am liking Souga's character development. He has had enough of Huin peddling her drugs and lies and turns his back on the offer of easy power, good for him!

As great that episode is, I really hope they will stop with the narrator. Showing the alter of Stendhal, then having the narrator explaining it when we just so it is dumb and it looks like the anime thing the viewer is even dumber, on top of stopping the action. And then, 10 minutes, we have again the narrator explaining the alter, ffs, stop taking the viewer for an absolute stupid 5 years with a 10s attention spam.
I really hope the rest of the anime and the final season will not be plagued by the narrator or another equivalent to repeat to the viewer what just happened on screen.

@otakuweek It's not a copy of Stain, but the real deal. More specifically though, this will be showcasing the journey from Stendhal to Stain.
@KingBaller06 yeap yeap, i saw later that it was him because it was too similar...

but in the main serie, we talked of his past so i'm a bit surprised to learn another past...

This episode was dark as fuck, I love it 😭

Knuckleduster, quirkless and alone, did what Deku, with 20% OFA and 2 partners, couldn't 😂

I don't get it tho, why did Stain let that bitch give them drugs? He knows she is a villain, and knows that by using that drug normal people turn into villains by force... does he want to create fake villains just so he can kill them? As crazy as a motive that is, I could understand it, but at the same time that's the absolute opposite of his character, this was weird.

Deku was using 5% of ofa when he fought Stain.
@Olvyi Ok, my mistake, so, your point is?
OFA is OFA, Knuckleduster might be strong as fuck, but he is quirkless. And like I said, Deku wasn't alone, he, Ida and Todoroki almost fkng died, but Knuckleduster knocked him out with 1 single punch to the face, he gave Stain time to recover but if he had wanted to he would've capture him on the spot.
Sorry if my english is bad (っ˘▽˘)っ~~~
Btw, cry about it.

So that was Stain, and his nose became like that was actually because of Knuckleduster. Interesting.

Knuckledude stepping over the line was funny, sword dude was pretty insane though. Looks like we'll get another female character next episode, hope she's more useful in combat.

GREAT episode!!!!

Stendhal is so dope to watch, and KNUCKLEDUSTER MY GOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAT
he is one and truly my goat what a great fight.

Nice set up for Stain in MHA, and the bee girl is getting more creepy by the minute. Love!

I forgot how crazy Stain is. His beliefs are generally pointless. This is the talk of a psychopath. I'm a bit surprised that Koichi and Pop were quite nice to this guy who attacked them once. Knuckleduster is really strong

So we finally get the backstory on Stain and why he's missing his nose. Who knew it was all because of Knuckleduster that he not only cut off his nose, but also change his outlook to the absolute extreme?

And it seems like Soga isn't such a bad guy afterall, just misunderstood. Great episode.

Wait if Stain hates people who helps villains, then why is he helping villains? He knows that Hachisuka is a villain, but he's helping her to get closer to villains to kill. Also Stain is a lot lamer than he was in MHA, but obviously that's because he lacked resolve (lol u get it)

I found it funny how all these other side heroes this episode were parodies of Marvel heroes. We also got MHA's version of the Deadpool and Wolverine fight scene if you think about it lol!! Jokes aside this was a great episode and Stendhal is just another great classic and menacing MHA villain!!

quick question:

is the anime changing the order of stuff? I read the manga up until the point where i think this first season cour will end (well after the character shown in the post ending credits "next ep preview" shows up) but i dont remember Stendhal showing up now.... I also dont remember his fight with Knuckleduster.

maybe im just having a bad memory blank cuz i read it when it came out years ago but now im curious if they are rearranging the order of events or adding extra scenes

I was thinking the same thing, maybe this what BONES does with their anime, but then again they did make Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (which is a direct adaptation of the manga), so I don't know, but I do feel like it is skipping because we're already where the tutor shows up, so who knows at this point lol!!

I think STain being a psychopath is well established at this point.

I’m sorry
The fact that Kuin got her eye Gouged by Stendhal AND he Cut his nose off is just pure Metal bruh👹👹👹 He just went from being Lawful Chaotic to Evil Chaotic.

I see Makoto is Debuting next episode. I have a feeling she’s gonna be very wholesome to Koichi.

NGL, it is kinda funny that this one fight turned Stendhal into Stain, that's an overreaction if I've ever seen one.

Also, Kugizaki's backstory doesn't justify his actions at all. I wouldn't help him, but I guess vigilantes/aspiring heroes have different standards.

There's the classic blood lick power, Stendhal taking down yakuza like lunch. That's the rep for vigilantes killing for justice the Stain way.

Don't know what spike was going to do against the swarm of bees, but I guess he had some guts somewhere. He was willing to fight on his own terms. Just the quirk couldn't help him.

W Knuckleduster, saving the day the Vigilante way. Screw the line if it means taking down the not-good guys. It's something that I think this helped give birth to the Stain ideology.

Makes sense for the bee arrangement to not be long term

No way Knuckleduster indirectly made Stain adopt his hero-killing mindset lol. The things a punch to the face can do to a man...

Honestly, Stain carried this episode in such a way. I can say his scenes totally made up for those lame moments with Kouichi defending the scumbag who was about to kill him and assault Pop☆Step in Ep.1.

Really liked seeing Slade in action again. Great fight scenes and I like that they gave the random street thug from the first episode some actual character. And that they showed the other guy in the hospital, to show that there are actual consequences. And seeing Slade switch into his hero-killer ideology was sick. And Knuckleduster just cheating and bashing him was great lol.

I think this episode fell into the old pitfall of prequels by overexplaining details from the main series, and with how little buildup Stendhal/Stain changed his ideals retroactively made him worse as a villain. It was still nice to see more of him, I suppose.

Stendhal/Stein (by this point it's crystal clear they're the same person, right?) is a deeply disturbed and confused man. At first he was killing villains (even minor delinquents..), but after getting... "enlightened" by Knuckleduster and his resolve he will switch to killing "sham heroes", as we all know, which in his mind means... all heroes except All Might.

In the next episodes I assume he'll attack and maim Tenya's big brother, as we know from the original series. The fact that he arbitrarily labeled Kouichi a villain too, just for trying to save Spike, means that everyone can be a villain in his book. He's a hypocrite who sees hypocrites everywhere except the mirror. "Justice" my a*se...

As for the super obnoxious bee brat, I wonder why she needs to carry multiple vials of Trigger (and risk getting caught by the police if searched) if all of her bees carry a small dose of Trigger in their butts/vials. She has a crapload of them (hundreds or more), which she hosts somewhere in her head, suggesting she might be missing plenty of brain matter.

But does she make Trigger herself (via her bees, instead of honey) or does AFO make it and somehow her bees carry it? Last but not least, how can the police be so incompetent that they haven't found her yet?

She is the single Trigger supplier in the city or even country. Not a single Trigger user talked when questioned, despite everything they went through due to that drug? Is the police incompetent or they just don't care?

So... old dude was the one that turned "villain killer" into "hero killer"... lol

.

Also... just realized... all the "best heroes" are all Qurikless huh... (or started out as). This seems like a Batman effect, where the "powerless" ends up as the "strongest".

(also, ppls are now saying MHA and Vigilante are not canon due to some controversies, but we still have this here, that directly connects the 2 series together, lol)

The Abegawa Tenchu yakuza gang, thinking they're all righteous villains, gets notoriously slain down by Stendhal, though Kuin having to convince him will take time.

Soga and his gang remain intact, especially the lizard of Rapt who recovers from the near-mishap of letting Ideo Trigger take over his entire self. But if there's one difference now, Soga wants to deal with Stendhal personally, even if it means standing up for who he really is as a bona fide villain. And sure, Koichi felt the ground crumblings of Soga's scream, but to see him and Stendhal face off against each other, the risk to save the Legendary Alum in spite from the latter's Bloodcurdle Quirk for Koichi, almost gets subdued when Knuckleduster comes for their aid.

There's a clear difference between heroism and one's sense of justice, and Stendhal choosing to cross that very line, only for Knuckleduster to interfere on his own count, turns the hero defender into quite the hero killer. Thankfully, Soga is saved, and one part of him even knows how Pop Step feels about the Crawler, though subtle. But as for Stendhal, his proclamations of heroes lacking resolve, and by his very blood of creating his very own path where no one has ever gone, he's clearly stained.

From Stendhal to Hero Killer Stain, how messed up is that?

Stain was pretty much the only villain I ever found to be a bit interesting in the main series. Guy had a meaningful purpose.. it's another thing he gets wasted as well in the end.

Though yeah, was cool to see how the guy who called himself Stendhal eventually became Stain.

I understand not wanting him to be outright murdered, but I can't believe they made Pop Step give first aid to the guy who tried to assault her. That's fucked up, especially when she's visibly uncomfortable with it.
