Gotta love how creativity and curiousity takes the characters to different placess. This episode is another example as Haruno scouts for new ideas.

It was a fun episode imo. They took photos of stones, had curry, and Haruno driving their car is priceless.

Poor Akiyama this ep lmao. First she's getting cooked alive in the sun thanks to the whole rock hunt, then the real tragedy struck in the second half...

EVERY Curry place they went and visited was either closed, sold out, or even at the end where they had stopped selling it all thanks to Maitake.... xD

Nothing beats the good old reliable konbini Curry though, so hey, who really won.

Finally some photography in my photography anime! Well, sort of. The girls going on the stone Easter egg picture hunt was really cool. I couldn’t find anything online about the maruishi dosojin online, but Dosojin are a very real thing in Japan and the Costa Rica spheres are real which I just learnt today so that was dope. Love when anime is wholesome and educational!

Basically a Haruno episode today and a tale of two halves as she ended up being runner up in the Easter egg hunt. Who’d have thought the second roundest stone would be right in her backyard, lol? Work smarter, not harder! Sucks the prize is just a replica of one of the dosojin tho while the winner goes to Costa Rica lmao

The L’s didn’t stop there for Haruno, tho. I felt so bad for my girl not getting her curry in the second half. I feel like she could’ve just gone to coco ichi or any of the other chains if she was just gonna settle for conbini curry anyway! Was fun to see her An and Kako on a side quest tho!haven’t gone that far, but I’ve done some crazy journeys for White Castle before so I know how cravings can be.

The episode started with the best girl of the show, Sakurako. Wait, are cats really supposed to be scared of cucumbers? I felt like a fool for even trying it with mine once, as it just started smelling it.

That was some animation when Taishou sent the cucumber flying at An for trying it. It was funny how she started having flashbacks and remembered a Dosojin they passed during their Full Course Photo Rally. After that, poor Sakurako and Satsuki remembered their past trauma. It's also funny that they got a Dosojin as a prize for coming second in a Dosojin-finding competition.

Some kid finally asked why it's rude to point the finger 😭, finally.

The second half turned into a food and travel show with a curry hunt, and they traveled a long distance only for Haruno to be disappointed in the end.

What an episode.

Love how the first half of the episode was just all of them scanning for perfect stone balls. I was honestly expecting Haruno to win though. 99% is pretty good, who the hell got 100%? At least she got second place though and honestly, the prize for getting second doesn't even seem that bad. The rest of the episode was so stupid buy I loved it. It was just Haruno craving curry for the whole day just to figure out that they are either temporarily closed, had a scheduled holiday, were sold out curry or had a Maitake festival where they only served Maitake stuff (pretty sure the Dam Curry is a reference to Yuru Camp). After all of that reckless and stupid risky driving, they end up having convenience store curry.

Oh how simple it could've been if they thought of that earlier.

In the end, the roundest Maruishi Dosojin was there all along, located just behind Haruno's house. lmao... And they also got another Maruishi Dosojin as a reward. what da F
At this point, Haruno would do everything for curry rice. Come on, just go to CoCo ICHIBANYA and get one.

Curry rice restaurant locations:
Chicken curry Ittosai
Indian Kitchen
Hottarakashi Onsen Yuru Camp's crews have been to this location before.
Minamiaiki Onsen Takimi no Yu

I decided, after this episode, the 10 as a rating is not enough, I give it 11 out of 10 as an overall rating. Too funny narration, the final scene with the character of Haruno driving on the dirt road killed me. But the rest also had me doubled over with laughter. I want more of this show!

Another lovely episode. I liked the hunt for the stone orbs. Reminds me of geocaching. Haruno's editor should know better than to give her a deadline on a day when all her favorite curry joints will be closed.

What are petrol prices in Japan 😭😭.

They are chasing curry all over the prefecture something we Indians eat every day. But yes even as Rice enthusiast have to say Nan with Butter chiken >> Rice with curry.

Haruno need to chill if she blowing that much money for beef and curry each episode she would be in huge debt soon. Even missed the deadline too.

Looking for most round ball quest was great. That Taishou attack on An with that cucumber was peak. More animation budget that entire TBATE anime. But 700 ball all over the prefecture damn intresting stuff.

Another nice episode so far so so good.

Marushi Dosojin sure are quite the curious things. The save point idea though lol. Kinda a shame that over here these kind of exploration events are so rare. Looks like they still have food trauma from last ep's speed eating contest. Haruno just can't catch a break it seems. In the end im glad she got her curry even if its just the konbini version.

The hunt for the roundest Maruishi Dosojin made for a fun day out for Satsuki, An, Sakurako and Haruno, especially as it got Haruno out of the house and doing a bit of adventuring, albeit in the comfort of her car for the most part. In the end, the roundest one was actually behind Haruno's house of all places and it was good enough to get 2nd place. While the winner gets a trip to Costa Rica, Haruno ended up winning a replica of a Maruishi Dosojin. As cool as it looked, it certainly fell well below the expectations of what the girls were expecting. ^^;

I do feel bad for Haruno, though. She had a craving for curry and fate decided that she wouldn't get what she wanted whatsoever. With An and Kako in tow, the trio travelled around only to get shafted by curry places either being on holiday or simply being out of ingredients to make the dish. You can tell how hardcore she was about wanting curry that she was driving her Nissan Pao in a way that would get a nod of approval from any legendary WRC rally driver. XD

After all of those setbacks, she had to settle with the cheap 'n' cheerful convenience store curry and she was still satisfied. Sure, she might've missed her deadline, but for an adventure like that and visiting so many beautiful locations in summer, I'm sure she had no regrets!

For a chaste all-female anime, this episode had way too many weird (unintentional?) sexual implications. But seriously, Haru is not only obsessed with ham, but also a curry addict?

@Sheol01 Even the local Indians don't know this?

Nothing like hunting for stone orbs, where’s Chisato from Love Live Superstar when we need her lol. It was a fun little hunt, from doing some scouting on their phones to discovering the roundest of all Maruishi Dosojin was in Haruno’s backyard, I enjoyed the journey, also An getting a cucumber to the face was amazing lol. But unfortunately for the gang, the greatest sphere of all is not in Japan, that would be Las Vegas, Nevada, and this is where I shamelessly make a music reference because Dead & Company are playing the final show of their residency there tonight lol.

And wow Haruno was on something in the second half of this episode, she had the curry fever lol, so many great bits here, my favorites have to be Haruno getting high off of huffing a bag of curry flavored Hineri-age and going full throttle on a gravel road. We also had an odd combo of girls here with Satsuki and Sakurako being absent, but I can appreciate the change because it alters the comedic chemistry between the characters, I think An and Kako bounced off Haruno’s insanity pretty well here.

While I had fun with this one, this episode, especially the second half, felt like it had nothing to do with photography. The first half had an app that allowed them to take pictures for scanning, but it wasn't for artistic purposes, just some contest. But that second half felt pointless. For a show that's supposed to be set around photography, there sure is very little of it.

The way they just cut away after the reveal of the prize from the orb-scanning competition... Like they never wanted to speak of it again. That was great.

Also appreciated the animation of Haru freaking out from mosquitoes and curry withdrawal.

Even if the anime is just chill and not really about anything, the little gags and the quality visuals go a long way...

I'm also pretty disappointed, but I had a feeling it'd be like that since like Episode 3...

I don't think it's really happening. The show looks like it's just about the girls goofing around, cracking jokes and eating yummy food. We had an exorcism last week, LOL, and we had an eating competition the week before that.

Had to adjust expectations, but I'm here every week... for now.

The first half of the Costa Rica trip challenge was so fun, especially the hilarious second-place prize, haha. That part absolutely killed me.

First half aside, the second half was a bit tough to watch. Seeing the three girls get rekt all around Japan just to find some curry, only for every place to be closed, was kind of heartbreaking.

I’m really glad they were at least able to grab some from a convenience store, though. As Haruno said at the end, all the effort makes it even more delicious, especially when you’re eating with friends!

@perseii The main dissonance is that people expected a more or less professional hobby show, but in the end the girls spend most of their time just taking pictures or filming their slice of life and that's it. Without deep immersion in the professional part.

@RobertBobert Well, I was also expecting the same thing. Just saying that I realized pretty quickly it wasn't meeting those "hobby show" expectations and likely never will.

Disappointing, but it doesn't bother me that much, somehow. The show is still managing to be entertaining every week.

We'll see how the second half of the season plays out.

I'd argue that with Yuru Camp, everything they did was about camping. Whether it was researching or buying new equipment, tips and tricks for camping beginners, or exploring new camping locations, it all came back to camping. That was the main focus at all times. As opposed to Mono which feels like a series of random activities where photography isn't required, and feels more like an afterthought.

I suppose the reasoning for my own personal assumption that photography would be the main focus is because this is from the same creator as Yuru Camp. I've since tempered my expectations and I'm just along for the ride at this point. It's silly and comfy enough to still watch and enjoy, but I think the lack of focus that this has on a specific hobby makes it a lot less interesting, and the show suffers for it.

@takkun_ That's not the point. The point is that the episodes here feel like a typical Yuru Camp episode, where the girls stop just before setting up camp. It's like one of those ecchi anime, especially visual novel-based ones, that look like hentai with the sex scenes cut out. In this case, with the camping cut out. At the same time, I understand perfectly why you expected a more professional immersion into the topic of photography, and not just an indirect use of real photo and video gadgets. I myself expected this after the first couple of episodes. But it seems that the author simply stopped being interested in this. At least for now.

They scour Yamanashi for round stones, only to find a rounder one behind Haruno's house.

Same for the curry: They search far and wide for a special curry, only to settle for one from a convenience store. I'm reminded of an old folk tale (maybe) where a king wants an exceptional meal, but threatens anyone who fails with death, so the chef who eventually takes up the challenge says the king has to refrain from eating for a whole day before, otherwise the meal won't taste as good.

I felt like at some point in Yuru Camp, the camping took a backseat to the tourism, even if their accommodation was always a campsite.

The pain of going around under the summer heat... and the roundest Maruishi Dosojin was just at the back of her house haha.
Haruno's obsession with curry is not to be underestimated, she will go all the way to the end of the world to have curry (and still find the shop either close or sold out lol).

That stiff mountain road brought back a memory, going uphill through that is traumatizing, what's more if half the road is a rough one.

Taishou with the cucumber was scary, do not mess with the boss cat!
