Very nice to see that at the very least, Oguri has proven herself from the last race, so much so that now they’re both going into this race with one mindset and one mindset only: BEAT THE OTHER NO MATTER WHAT. It was so good seeing them both give it their all, especially in those last couple minutes, which easily made it one of the most intense races in the whole franchise so far... in only FOUR episodes of buildup too.

The heavy breathing, the first-person POV, the complete silence... and ofc the cherry on top, OGURI TAKING IT FUCKING HOME FOR THE TEAMMMMM. Everything here was just perfection. Even Oguri’s new moves are perfect, so perfect that even our resident bully couldn’t help but dance along with her in the crowd, xD.

And ohhhhh boy, I KNOW that ain’t who I think it was in that post-credit scene RIGHT?!?!?!

Finally, the proper winning live from Oguri Cap. Big thanks to Norn Ace. She was so proud of herself and Oguri Cap for this reason.

Great episode this time around, but a distinct lack of Chef Food Terrorism!

Poor Belno losing her race, seemingly so confident going into it but coming out the loser.
This blob moe face when she tested her jump height after removing the weights though.
The race itself was pretty good, though Fujimasa March is so full of her self, shut herself off from the world just to focus on her goals.
Smol Rudy, Mini and Norn is so adorable in her flashback though.
Glad to see Norn Ace's family dance studio coming in clutch this time around, no more embarrassing ondo dance like last time.
It is cute that she becoming friends with Oguri, brushing her hair when she was asleep and then crying during the dance was cute.
I'm curious to see the next race on the turf track, since that is supposed to be her first turf race.

They also posted the winning live song this time again!
Seems like the song name is "BRIGHEST HEART"

The power of goals and rivalry collide, in the end Ogari stands on top, giving us a more energetic performance than the last one, while still retaining the cuteness.

I usually skip the idol / dancing parts, but this was animated beautifully, usually the swap to 3d is jarring, but this was seamless. The only anime this season I refresh the page to watch asap.

  • I wondered what the real race had been like and found a video. The race development was different from the history, and there was no second dash in reality. But it was a nice fiction.
  • The scene March extend her arm reminded me of Eva.

That Belno smug smile was great.

Fujimasa March is so overly intense that makes her funny.

Norn Ace was like those mothers that is their kid dance coach.

Thinking about it, I never seen a Symboli Rudolph race. Oguri may lose but.

You know you’re cooked when your backstory starts playing mid-race lol (the loli horse girls were adorable tho), Fujimasa March had a life of rough training like a true horse bred for racing, but it wasn’t enough in the face of Oguri Cap (or should I say ass since March ended up in 2nd place lol), that 2nd spurt was really wild, a bit out of nowhere but it was badass. You could see it coming tho, with March disregarding her trainer beforehand and her overconfidence, it was gonna happen, but it was truly a great race, I’m glad Oguri and March’s rivalry became tighter as a result too, it would be nice to see these two race each other at the Tokai Derby eventually but anything could happen in the horse world between now and then.

And we got a proper Winning Live this time, Norn Ace’s training paid off it seems, I loved that little flashback of the two of them together, it’s still a bit off compared to the full on idol performances like we’re used to in the previous seasons but you don’t need a light show for a nice dance performance. And in the end we got teased on Rudolph, I’m not the biggest fan of her but it is cool to see her again, I was actually thinking we’d see the formation of the main horse girl school in this season but looks like it already exists, I’m sure we’ll see Oguri end up there eventually in this season, but for now I’m liking the different school, we’ve seen enough of the original one at this point lol.

And lastly, damn this is taking place in 1987? How did it take me this long to realize lol, that’s really cool, I’m guessing that falls in line with the irl Oguri Cap’s time, although this does make me wish they would use some appropriate 80s music for the Winning Lives, the song in this episode didn’t sound like it, but it was good at least.

@TheColonel76 The current belief is it was a subtitles mistake, as on the calendar there was no year date, only month and a day.

Belno debuted for the first time but she lost, sad to see it but i will wait for Belno's future development.

March's backstory is why she's so serious, she thinks friends will interfere with her development, but after this defeat she gained a friend and rival for her Tokai Derby.

i was so shocked to see Oguri almost lose but, after she realized what her purpose in running was she was able to beat March giving her a meaning in running and was able to find her purpose and she won because of March and just as March thanked Oguri for giving her a new passion for racing.

FINALLY Oguri can Performing Winning Live by dancing as an idol like other Uma Musume lol, thanks to Norn Ace she has become Oguri's biggest simp lmao.

Tamamo Cross seems to have a special cast for the future i will look forward to her contribution in the upcoming episodes, it seems that Rudolf will compete with Oguri in Chūkyo, eagerly waiting for next week's episode!

Poor Belno had a rough first race of her career. Considering how sweet she is, I can only hope that she'll make progress in doing better in her future races, one step at a time. =)

Oguri Cap performed beautifully in the Junior Cup race. She might've had a weaker starting position compared to March, but she was able to dig deep and, upon acknowledging her desire to win, she was able to have enough stamina to have a second burst which got her past March and take home the victory. It was interesting to know about March's backstory about her desire to win and to never lose, but things don't always work out the way you envision them to be. Thankfully, I'm glad that took this defeat well enough and further proves her strong rivalry with Oguri Cap.

Thankfully, Oguri's victory concert was a resounding success all thanks to Norn Ace, who acted like a proud and emotional teacher upon seeing her student's big success. Her turnaround from being a bully to an Oguri Cap simp is rather cute, I must say!

Great episode overall. The post credit scene does explain as to why Jo's uncle warned him not to take Oguri to the Chukyo Hai race, since Rudolph herself will be there, maybe to observe or race, who knows.

No surprises this Sunday, right? When these shoes go supersonic, there's not much to do. They pound the ground as much as your mo...

Sometimes, our favorite horse girl's honesty is too harsh:

Awww, Norn:

There are a ton of things I don't know about Uma Musumes, and I just started with Oguri Cap (Cap-u?), which seems pretty good to me. There was the little one that some recognize as a racer from Tokyo, and now the two ladies at the end, who many have considered as "quite important". Okay, I think I might need several hours to get up to speed.

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

Oguri and Fujimasa's rivalry is pretty good for the opening act.

Note its almost time for Oguri to transfer from NAR to JRA.
Fujimasa March (Tosho March) is the only horse to beat in kasamatsu racetracks

@NezuSwallowtail_ Tamamo cross shares the same distinction as Oguri and Fujimasa during that time frame, they are all ashen horses, which was believed they weren't good race horses.

This result board shows how big is the difference between both Oguri Cap and Fujimasa March from the rest of the field.

The grat, chad Roppei is finally in the anime!

Literally me frfr

I love the little extra scenes they have added, help the characters and story feel more complete, they aren't filler at all! Peak.

Gotta love the timeline of this franchise lol, they showed a calendar saying 1987, because that is historically correct, but Oguri is supposed to be just a couple years older than the umas from the other animes, but that also doesn't make much sense since there are umas from many different generations, we also have the Kita and Dia problem with them being children in the 2nd season, but for the 3rd season they were already teenagers when it supposedly has only been a year between seasons. Also here is 1987 but they have smartphones and even modern portable game consoles.
I would love it if someday everyone at Cygames go crazy and decide to explain the umamusume timeline, that would be so interesting and funny 🤣
I like to think that in this world months are like weeks, and years are like months lol, is the only way any of this could make any sense.

I love the degree to which it mirrors the manga, it's so well put together; I was so worried I'd be disappointed, especially when Season 3 of the mainline anime felt like a let down, but my expectations have been completely blown past!

Hope it keeps it up, I'm looking forward to every episode more and more—actually getting to listen to the winning lives has been so much fun

Perhaps on a musical level this anime series is the one that has the best opening and ending, I have not found anything better around, except other anime that perhaps have better endings or openings on a graphic level. However, even this time the peak during the story is found in the competition between girls, there the best of the anime is sublimated.

The episode started with Berno putting on an intimidating front, only to lose badly—poor girl, she really needs more work to improve herself.

The match between Oguri and Fujimasa was intense, and at one point it genuinely felt like Oguri might lose. But that sudden second spurt and the aura she gave off were seriously impressive.

As for Musaka’s warning to Oguri about not racing in Chukyo Hia—why did he tell that to Joe? Whatever the reason is, it definitely sounds like trouble.

The Junior Crown being the focus for Oguri Cap, much less Belno who can't even do a decent lap (she'll get there in due time), this is the starting point for the proven horse girl, going against Fujimasa March. But for Kitahara to find his uncle Ginjiro Musaka being at the stadium as well to see their race, might as well do with Belno.

Even Tokyo Tracen's Tamamo Cross is there to see their match, and for a comparatively long-distance race, pacing plays a key importance, though having Oguri Cap spurt alongside March at the same time, this unprecedented move completely caught everyone offguard, with strength to account for the final spurt. But the surprise 2nd spurt from Oguri Cap sealing 1st place for herself, and also inspiring March to keep on working.

The victory dance for Oguri Cap is at least better than the Enka one, all thanks to Norn Ace teaching her how to dance. And Kitahara aiming for the Chukyo Hai to get more experience in the pursuit for the Tokai Derby, where Symboli Rudolf is also heading to next, the different generations of horse girls will meet altogether soon.

One giant leap for Oguri Cap, and the first few of many victories to come.

Belno still needs another training arc 😔 she isn't equipped to contend with the best of them. Poor girl.

Racing is serious business 🙏 Tokai Derby waiting for them.then. Cap gotta take it from March. March is underestimating frfr in that dreamscape of hers.

Old man could see the talent from the stands. She did all the prep for the W 👏 W is deserved. Maybe now March can find some friends of her own, stop living the lone wolf racer life.

Caus nothing 👏 stops 👏 Cap 👏 give her a buffet.

Even had a proper concert to offset her other.. mishap XD

Best episode yet?
It had a bit of everything, seeing Ogari finally get a concrete goal and refusing to give from that was PEAK.
But I also enjoyed March's backstory, she had talent and worked a lot for it, but you cant win everytime, and it was great to see Ogari getting it together and being there for March at the end, it become a really loveable rivalry to see.

My guess is this idol stuff at the end is mainly from gacha and the devs simping hard on that idol culture to get more people playing the gacha.... it is kinda out of left field on this, but it was adorable to see Ogari performing much better and the flashback of Norn teaching her, that gave me plently feels good and cuteness for this episode.
Great episode!

Keep them coming, but I feel that next race is going to be a loss for Ogari, but she cant be winning always.
