A basic arc, where like characters act like their personality? Like so far every arc they did? As I said so far, the show was decent, I have problem with the Jeju Island arc.

No character displayed here might have more than four to five scenes at best and realistically their personality wasn't that much stablished.

Look around you, people defined Esil (was that the demon girl name?) as one of the biggest waifus of the show and both in manwha and anime has little input on anything. She has like... 3 more lines in the manwha than the anime? She won't appear ever again in the story.
Cha, that everyone treats as Jinwo's wife

interacts 5 times with Jinwo (well, 6, but in one she is unconscious despite "sensing him there" and in another he is unconscious but "heard her talk") so I will count those two as halves and add as 1.
3 of those interactions already happened so there you go".

Beru was hunting all the japanese, just stopped to come aid the queen.
I guess he would have found Gotou sooner rather than later and the only thing that makes him consider Gotou the king is that he parried one single attack.

I don’t see why the Ant King would resort to torture. Torture feels like a distinctly sociopathic human trait, whereas the Ant King, though furious, seems solely focused on eliminating the human invaders for now. That said, I have no doubt he’ll eventually set his sights on conquering Asia, and possibly the entire world.

In any case, I don’t expect consistent writing from Solo Leveling. With the main character being such a Mary Sue and already overwhelmingly powerful, most of the side characters end up feeling irrelevant.

To be honest, up to this part the show was pretty consistent for me. At least did not really see any plot hole or obvious plot armors. Here in Jeju it feels the author wanted to take a dump on Japan, so he wrote this arc, but literally throw any quality out of the window by doing this. Cause the whole raid and how Beru acts is just a mess....

Nice episode as usual but don't you all love it when the S-rankers, the supposed ultimate form of hunters, are now reduced to just punching bags in order to make Sung Jin Woo looks good later? That's one thing I dislike from Solo Leveling.

Again like I said, I get it but you are trying to find other problems that aren’t there in it to justify it, when it is understood already.

A character basic personality.
Beru's for example showed that he doesn't play, he goes for the kill and wants to kill any enemy who threatens the island. He does this by killing the Japanese hunters. So far this is a basic character trait. However the show throws it out the window when it goes to the Korean hunters, and instead of disposing them like he did with the Japanese, he does body shots, so basically all of them survive(expect for the healer),
And once he played with the Korean hunters he goes back out to the Japanese, and for some reason he goes back beheading people. So his motivation, character traits is all over the place.

That part did not bother me, cause every character even though was pretty basic, were consistent.

If you watch the episode again. The healer guy was not using camouflage when the Ant walked in. And he has intelligence, for example in the first Japanese group he killed the healer first. Here for some reason he goes for Chae first lol.

The show in the brawl episode clearly showed and declared that the Japanese hunters were on a completely different level to the Korean hunters.
It's also said that Goto alone could alone basically defeat any Korean hunter. (And basically he is also defeated by a single hit We can see his sword shatter briefly) The Korean hunters survived because Beru just left them alive...because i guess reasons?

There's one thing I don't understand about this adaptation: I think it's one of the most eagerly-awaited anime of 2024/2025, and instead of pleasing all those people who've been waiting for it, to maximize people's retention/enthusiasm for this work, I'd even say this masterpiece, they're airing it as if they were airing season x's crappy isekai. It's a shame, really, they've got this masterpiece in their hands and they're not going to do little things like "come on, we'll throw you a double episode" or "for the first episode or for the last episode, we'll throw you the 2 episodes last", to maintain the hype, just like Arcane did, where it was 3 episodes each time, so you cancel out the frustration and still make people want to watch the rest. No, here, it'll be broadcast as if it were a crappy icekaï season with the umpteenth story trope we've seen 400 times.

Yes, I'm raging, I'm sorry but it bugs me that this anime is being broadcast as if it were a lambda anime. It may be a lambda anime, but there's way too much hype about this lambda anime for it to stay in lambda Nimes xD

Great episode, but some of the animation was dreadful. That bit where they were running through the forest was okay... until they started repeating it for another couple of loops. And the ending was bizarre, with some empty dead city zooming past Jinwoo, apparently extremely late for some appointment (I think the intent was for it to look like the camera was rotating around Jinwoo, but when the angle of his face didn't change, all I could see was a city flying past behind him at hundreds of miles per hour).

I wish this was one of those weeks they released 2 episodes at once. honestly, we want to see jinwoo lay waste to these dam ants and all the s ranks stand there slack jawed at the sight.

it made zero sense that he didn't come along to begin with, it was a total 180 of his character in every way. it only served as a means of prolonging suspense. I mean i dont dislike the other Korean shows ranks. in fact, I like cha and yoonho quite a bit. I'd like to see them fight along side jinwoo instead of being used to show how insurmountable the black ant is.

I kinda half wish the black ant would dismember goto and all the japan s rank dbags, and the other half really want jinwoo to curb stomp him. seeing as now it's shown japan is enemies of the Korean hunters.

this next week is going to be torture waiting for release.

ZOO E MAMA! Buff red hair guy went into Sulong form but couldn't match with the aura farming ant. Got some pretty grotesque looking faces. Solo Leveling always creeps me out with their expressions. Oh well, guess aura farming vs. aura farming next episode. We'll see who's the realest of them all.

Omggggg... what an episode! last week i saw everyone's reaction with Byung-gu i knew that his death is imminent so i searched up on how exactly he'd go down, since i never read the manhwa i thought his death scene was very well done and impactful, very much like how i imagined it, so sad though :( and honestly i didn't think i'd see it this week, it's happening so fast now the pace. And omg that cliffhanger, i totally forgot Jingwoo has the 'exchange' power now, that explains how he could transport to the spot and save the day! so hyped for next week's episode and really excited to when he says to the Ant King: OKIRO!

The fight sequence was well executed. I'm not totally sure about the way beru was animated in the beginning. Kind of like a black blob.. I would have preferred some sort of a haze or something else.

If you pass out.... then Idk if you know that but you won't feel anything. The whole point of torture to make the other party suffer. If the person doesn't suffer due to unconsciousness, that's not torture.

I'm glad that they didn't remove the part about Japan's betrayal but they did mitigate it to be a decision to betray them "on the spot after taking the circumstances into consideration" unlike in the manga and novel where they planned to betray them before even going to the island and the plan all along was annihilation of Korea's S-ranks.

Ehh, I don't know what to say really. They cocked up the Japan hunters big time with this, introducing them just to kill 'em off was really shitty, plus they just play them off to be assholes in the end.

Aside from that, the ant guy is sick and looks like the next episode will be amazing fightwise so that'll be great. RIP Healer guy, he was not remotely in the show for long enough.
