Ye, this is a season finale clashing Veltol and Hizuki. Not going to lie, it had the season finale vibe and they did invest Hizuki enough in the latest episode.

It just felt rushed though and lack of emotional impact. On the other hand, it goe sto show that Veltol is still a badass despite being a goof around.

The resurrection of Goddess Meldia may be Veltol's biggest enemy in the new world yet, but at the very least, he's not alone, not without Hero Gram, the hero that the goddess altered his life. In the same way, Machina going against the immortal Ange, to which she knows that it's her friend, being used for an experiment is unsightly.

Continuing the fight between Veltol and Meldia, the former need only remove the latter's conscious within Hizuki, but as soon as the hysterics caught onto her, there is no choice but for both Demon Lord and Hero to partner one more time to bring down a lovestruck maiden, and then clear the confusion and misunderstanding for the rightful king of Akihabara.

Veltol settling his business with Hizuki is standard fare, and she finally got the salvation she needed.

This show blew me away at its innovation, there won't be anime like this for the next few years to come.

Now I'm really curious about the mysterious organization who tries to resurrect Meldia as they're basically acting like Knights Templars and carrying out heinous acts in Gram's name.

Still, I love how Maou 2099 ended but it'll take a long time for another season. One more thing, it sucks that Towa didn't get another cameo.

Yeah, would it REALLY be a fantasy/demon lord show WITHOUT a big fight to end off the show. Unlike most of those though, this actually looked good. Amazing in fact. Just like the whole show has, to a surprise to me and a lot... because this is JC STAFF of all studios.

Really glad they put all their resources and team to this show instead of ShitMachi, I mean, Danmachi. Props to Ando, THE GOAT, for saving this show.

Without a doubt the most surprising show of the season for me and I’m so sad it’s over. Expected this to be a generic fantasy and it ended up being one of my fave shows of the YEAR. Loved the characters, story, setting, art, ah it was great. I have the first 3 books and I can’t wait to start reading them. This is how you wrap up a great season!

Veltol vs Meldia didn’t have the best animation, but it didn’t need to because ultimately their battle was more internal and emotional than anything else. Meldia’s regret over Gram’s immortality and taking over Hizuki’s body were her biggest issues. She just took that pain out on Veltol and props to him for seeing through it and just beating her with her own emotions. Gram with the big assist as well, but it kind of sucks they didn’t even get to talk?? You’d think they would’ve let Meldia speak to the love of her life!

I knew Mary would still be out there when Machina brought her up a few eps ago, but damn being used as a brainwashed weapon by whoever is pulling the strings sucks.

I love how Veltol calls Hizuki’s name perfectly fine throughout the Meldia fight so you know he can do it, he just likes fucking with and teasing her lmao. I was so set on Machina before, but Hizuki might be best girl.

Getting rid of the monarchy in Akiba was a perfect end to the arc. That classism led to so much pain for Hizuki and her family so I fully support just telling everyone to go fuck themselves and listen to the city council lmao.

Ending off with a gaming tournament is such a Maou 2099 thing to do lol. I came to love this cast so much, it’s got to be my favourite cast of the season. Absolute joy to watch. Can’t say Maou 2099 needed a whole season to get good because it was amazing from the jump. I’m gonna miss this on Saturdays.

Harem +1 with Hizuki, but Veltol needs a MILF next rather than another high school girl (or ancient immortal high school girl equivalent) now.

Maou and Hero fighting together is such a nice fanservice, they've to do collab livestream on OnlyFans ASAP.

I'm wondering if Gram staying virgin single for the past 500 years as a display of faith to his Goddess, that'd work in my favor too, but maybe that's why he has such a suffering face. Love from Goddess bring such a heavy responsibility to bear.

No sequel announcement? I thought this cyberpunk Maou is doing a job well enough to guarantee season 2 immediately since there are many worse anime in this season that get a sequel.

This anime had the undisputed best main character of the season! It's rare to see a character with as much confidence as Veltol. The cyberpunk sort of setting mixed with magic was also something I hadn't seen before. Definitely hoping for a sequel!

Meldia/Hizuki looked pretty in red dress and the golden effects too. Good to see Veltol and Gram fight together again. Hizuki's back. The white hair girl voiced by Koga Aoi was one of the immortals, May. MaguRosanta got away, saved for later. Veltol still suck at fighting games but he got more subs. Also nice look Hizuki.

Enjoyed this, pretty unique mix of popular tropes. Was fun and defo want more. Great waifus too and Takahashi was hella amusing. Her seiyuu was amazing. S2 when?

things wrapped up pretty cleanly, almost too cleanly, but it was really touching. this series was way off my radar but i really enjoyed it. I want to see more of Gram, and y'all mfs need to get on with a second season because this thing was hype.

I really enjoyed this anime. It wasn’t particularly amazing. But it was consistently enjoyable and interesting. I have so many shows that I don’t have the will power to finish the last two episodes. Maou 2099 however was refreshing in that it started and ended with an interesting plot. Looks like they left the story open for a season 2, can’t wait!

This anime feels so slept on. Hardly anyone I’ve asked about it even knows of its existence. That being said, it’s one of my favorites in recent memory. The animation is stellar, the storytelling is captivating. Each and every episode was enticing and could shift tones from utterly hilarious to severe at a moment‘s notice. Not to mention, the VA’s for both the subbed and dubbed versions are phenomenal. Episodes 12 certainly had airs of finality and gravitas, as every season finale should. I cannot wait for a season 2.

I wrote a bunch, misclicked, and deleted it all. Will shorten:
-Amazing Season Finale
-Meldia is another example of how Veltol doesn't seem like he was a bad guy even in past
-Gram truly is good example of someone to fall in love with
-Huguko is now happy, with Meldia to inside Hejoku also happy as Hozike is in school with Takahashi
-I am content with this being the end, but definitely set up for a far greater threat

So, kinda of a mash-up between Shadowrun and The Devil is a Part Timer. Got a little weird when it skipped over to being a high-school show during the second arc. If I’m being honest I wanted more Shadowrun/Cyberpunk Edgerunners stuff outta this, but I’d welcome another season…if we ever get one.

Despite the finale episode being rushed to close out the Akihabara arc in Volume 2, it was still somewhat enjoyable with Hizuki being a wonderful addition to the cast of characters. It's rather disappointing that there is no announcement for a second season because I wasn't expecting to like a show that turned out to be one of the better shows this season. I really liked the concept of merging the cyberpunk and fantasy worlds as it makes for great world building. It was a fresh take on the Demon Lord troupe as Veltol is not nearly as strong as he once was in his previous life. The soundtrack for this show is very underrated as both the OP and ED were good songs along with some good background tracks.

It's probably for the best that this show doesn't get another season for now considering the clusterfuck that is going on with JC Staff's production schedule that lead to Danmachi getting delayed until Spring 2025.

@thebasayou SUPER slept on! Plus it gives strong nostalgia to me for Ghost in the Shell (and they even threw in several callbacks such as "Laughing Man" and "Stand Alone Complex"), so the similarities were obviously an intentional nod.
I can only hope that much like other shows that are slept in in the West (like Kingdom or Golden Kamuy), that it is wildly popular in Japan and gets another season, but IDK how to check a show's popularity in Japan specifically.

@Gal3riel it definitely was, and I think Veltol knew that. While the Goddess's main "soul" is gone, the regalia were all imbued with a piece of her soul, so as long as they still exist, the goddess isn't actually gone or dead (and Hizuki has the Orb inside of her). Hizuki herself had no reason to apologize to Veltol that I know of.

Known tropes packaged so that they feel fresh. This series knew how to be genuinely entertaining compared to the many modern fantasies which keep doing the same thing.

This show had a great premise, and it delivers with a great execution!
There's so much story content within the 12 eps runtime, but I think they condensed and paced it pretty well. It really doesn't feel too fast because among all the heavy lore and action, we still got to see all the characters' unique personality fleshed out and them casually interacting with each other in their daily lives. I also love the tone / vibe of the entire show, where it feels a bit muted and not as vibrant as your typical anime style, but all the emotions still really come through, from the comedic to the emotional moments. Overall, this is one of the best and most entertaining fantasy show this year!

Considering there's still a lot of unanswered questions, like where/how are the remaining Dark Peers and what's the deal with that shady organization, I'm really looking forward for Season 2!

I honestly went into this with super low expectations, only drawn by the "cyberpunk" aesthetic.

Pretty good finale with the goddess taking over Hizuki's body and Veltol saving Hijiki Hizuki at the end with an assist from Gram.

This series was good overall even though I felt that some parts felt rushed like towards the end it got a bit confusing as to what was happening. While this final episode was satisfying to watch it was left open for another season as there are many unanswered questions plus new characters to get to know such as May so hopefully a 2nd season is announced at some point.
