| Meh, I didn't really care much about the the adults were planning. The kids took the attention away with their playfulness. But on a serious note, it's scary how damaged a guy can become. |

| Was good the rundown about the dhampir biology and social. Kid Rosa, remembers me of Cereza/Bayonetta when she was young. Juras story could be very well be MC backstory. The guy was too angry to die even when wanting to die. So for now Pendulum is 2 drug addicts, 1 just there for being a sidekick, 1 very angry, and 1 being religious(?). |

| That was a harsh backstory. I liked this episode a lot. The background score was a bit haunting; very fitting for the scenes being played out. |
| For an episode called Thus Spoke Kis... I mean Juras, he has something like 5 lines. The first half was really boring and the second was almost entirely Juras' backstory, narrated by Katarina for some reason. It's weird that Katarina and Kiki haven't had this conversation a long time ago by the way. I feel like motivation is one of the first things you talk about with a new member of your evil organisation. The backstory itself was badly animated of course, but I have to say it's straight out of Fire Punch chapter 1! I have not read it myself, but from what I've heard it's similar to Juras' backstory but way cooler. (I should read Fire Punch sometime...) The preview says next episode is a fight. Can't wait to analyse how junky the animation is going to be this time! |
| Good episode. Dhampir has one tragic backstory... I'm more intrigued with Trump though. Man's one big mystery. Wonder if we'll ever find out what's he's like or how he reasons. Kiki is a sweetheart. I fear characters like her will end up dead by the end of the season. The way I see it, she's likely to sacrifice herself to save kids or something. No way in hell she'll let them be killed to force Juras to speak up. |
| Something I noticed this episode. The table laid out with food was all tinted red. I interpret this to suggest dhampirs and vampires only can eat food if it is mixed with blood or perhaps it only tastes disgusting to them without it. Either way they do seem to need blood not just casually crave it. Juras sure does have understandable reasons but I still wonder if this True of Vamp really was behind what happened or not. I will just take this opportunity to say I really like Katarina's character design and voice pairing. Only thing I'm a bit unclear on is why is the cocoon stage so desirable? I must have missed something from a previous episode when something was mentioned about the stage. alpo42ab said: The bad guys are much better with the kids! | The level of artistic direction, scene transitions, and OST in this episode during the "flashback" or recounting of Juras' past was definitely on point. Finally some echoes of an OST which screams romantic Gothic tragedy. And I think one of the long-running questions I've had which I voiced in a previous episode discussion thread topic was finally answered this episode (albeit indirectly) about the role blood plays in their diet and how integral it is. Selling snakes' and hares' blood at a stall is one thing - It could be brushed off as a luxury or delicacy for the wealthy and/or tourists. But a starving child's first instinct when diving upon a rat for sustenance being not to harvest or prioritize its meat but specifically drink and drain its blood I think is as clear-cut a confirmation as we'll get about blood as their first essential nutrition. Later, as another user pointed out, every dish at their table for dinner seems to be blood-based, or at least, blood-tinged/blood-soaked/blood-drizzled, so just more driving it home. What I still long to know is if TRUMP made the decision to wipe out the entire village purely and exclusively as a matter of racial hygiene. Because dhampirs are dehumanized....er...or rather...devampirized. And there is nothing more to it? Nebula was just their Warsaw Ghetto which could no longer be allowed to exist? |

| The children being in Pendulum's care, reflect to Kiki and Catarina the best, but the dhampir man of Shad Juras, more than seeking answers, the group is just stuck trying to entertain the children, which I gotta admit that they handle the bunch better than their own parents. For the moment, the husband-wife duo of Henrique and Kate assists the vampires in seeking out the sequence of events in Nebula Village that was inevitably caused by TRUMP resulting in the decimation of the place, which Juras is definitely part of the equation. Juras's flashback story of surviving an almost inescapable situation of life and death, knowing that he can't exactly live long by surviving on rat blood (which made him smell like gutter) and got saved by the village girl of Rosa to have a crush on her, only to meet her death and the burns he sustained from the killing to join Pendulum as it is. Even to Kiki who just wants to stay in her cocoon phase for as long as she lives, the evil side of the spectrum is quite the fascination of interest. The animation of the flashback is whatever, but I find it coherent and a good way to do storytelling through its phases. Meeting the other Nebula Village survivor of Sekishu, what secrets can he tell the vampires for progress? |
