This turned out to be one of the more complex tasks Dali and Wolf had to take on. It seems making a magic sword isn't as easy as it sounds.

Still, this episode gave more time for Dali and Wolf to develop their on screen relationship together. These recent episode really are exploring both their interests and trustworthiness.

I could literally watch entire episodes of just Dahliya and Wolf having fun.

Their friendship and banter is so good. I appreciate they’re keeping things platonic now and he respects that Dahliya is too locked in to her own development for a relationship. The cooking scenes today were so cute and Dahliya teasing Wolf about him not liking peppers had me laughing 😂 it’s ok Wolf, plenty of kids don’t like peppers either

Working on the sword and scabbard together was sweet too. Even though it didn’t turn out right this time they still made some valuable progress. Kinda got a bad feeling about them storing that failed prototype instead of destroying it tho after how it melted through that meat lmao.

It’s so cute how happy Wolf gets when talking about Dahliya to others and bragging about her inventions! Definitely getting the destiny fever. The socks and insoles she gave him for the military campaign look comfy af and it serves as free promo since now his colleagues will want some. Good move from Dahliya!

@Zaxphred You say that like it's a BAD THING! ROFLOL. Others have done it, & had it not turn out badly ( thinking Leadale here) so not to worry.
A nice, quiet episode despite that title.

I noticed that the dagger Wolf brought was disassembled like a Japanese-style blade, rather than Western blades that normally have a full tang going all the way through the pommel, which would be later peened, making a permanent construction.

I don't see how they could reconstruct it after disassembly...unless the handle wrap on the dagger can easily slide off the handle's wooden core, have the two pins (also missing from the table) hold it in place, then slide the wrap back on from the bottom, and the pommel screwed back on with a threaded bottom.

The gold or brass round-ish ring is also a head-scratcher. When assembled, it looked oval as it went on the upper part of the handle. Then, a later shot of it on the table, it's completely round, and thin for some reason, and laying flat instead of on its side like before. That means the shape of the handle has changed from oval to round. Although it changed back to a thick oval when put into the pot of black slime acid (which apparently doesn't need to be neutralized afterward).

The bottom of the tang was flat, but now looks slanted. However, that was likely because it broke after trying to jam it back into the handle.

I'm absolutely overthinking this, but overall, I think this was just an oversight of what the author/animators knew of blade construction. Also, Dahliya should be wearing some safety eye protection when dealing with acidic slimes or whatnot, especially after getting her eyes fixed with magic laser eye surgery, but more so since she's also reincarnated from our world and should know better. The magic refrigerator made more sense than of it. Screw it...the discrepancies are because of magic.

As for the magic socks, it had me worried there. I thought Wolf was sharing his already-worn socks for a moment, and was like "Eww, that's unsanitary." But then he revealed he had multiple pairs, which was a relief.

Was that Wolfe's mom or aunt at dinner? It was an odd set up. For a few seconds I thought he was a gigolo. Bet he's wishing he had kept his shoes on at camp.

@dragynfaerie I can't remember if she's actually related to him or not, but his mom was the woman in the locket, so if she is related to him, it's his aunt.

As for the episode i love this series, except the first 3 or so episodes (which alot of it was HEAVILY abridged in the manga) and this episode was no exception.

Dahliya just invented steam early access.... But at least the Rosetti Comp. at this point is still considered indie, not AAA, so even the early access may not be as buggy as a AAA one.... wwwwww
Yes, this comment serves as a critic to AAA gaming industry. wwwww

@dragynfaerie It was mentioned in prev EPs, the lady was a widow friend of his. Wolf always attracts young ladies at soiree, and as a widow she attracts money-grubbing nobles (I only read a few chaps into the manga and LN and never got this far, so may need some confirmation from actual reader on this). So as a mutual benefit they come to soiree together to send away these pesky pests.

Keen observation. I played back. Indeed, that the structure is different from a typical western sword. Unless the pommel has something like a capsule to hold the bones of the saint's digit, Western swords are usually one piece.
The construction of a sword with pins through holes in the tang to hold it in place and a handle over the top to cover it would be a Japanese sword concept.
I guess that the talk about disassembly was probably brought up by the original author for introducing the depiction of material processing.
To render the sword, the prop designer of the anime might divert the structure of katana, or he had a mindset that all the swords are in a similar structure universally. According to the opening credits, the designer is Hiroya Takahashi. Although he has extensive experience in as in-between checker, this is his first title in prop design. Did he draw too many Japanese swords in “Shaman King”?

I thought the setting was somewhere like Europe, but it would be a humid temperate monsoon climate zone (like the Japan Islands).
Although the ingredients are neither kraken nor green slime, five-fingered socks are easily available throughout Japan. Most of them are for adult men, but women use them as well because they warm toes well. Some women cut off fingertips to use them while painting pedicures. They say it's good because it expands the space between the fingers.

- Otasukeman
- Lupin III (Jigen Daisuke)
- Mobile Police Patlabor (Platoon Commander Goto)
- Cells at Work! CODE BLACK!
- Moyashimon
- Crayon Shin-chan (Nohara Hiroshi, the father)
- Bocchi the Rock! (Kita Ikuyo: author's fancy, not described in the anime series)

Congratulations! A new addition to the delightful group of "works talking about athlete's foot".
I hope MAL doesn't consider opening a new thematic classification.

The first magic sword creation was still a success. Dahlia managed to make a sword that looks more demonic rather than magical, but it just needs some improvements and it will be ready to use. Meanwhile, they can use that sword to cook food, because that thing will burn everything😂 It could be dangerous as well.

Dahlia is getting better and better as a magic artificier. She is able to create many magical things and she can imbue awesome magic to everything. The foot fungus and foot sweating are two solved problems thanks to green socks imbued with magic.

I love how lovely is the relationship between Dahlia and Wolf. They are starting to be even closer and they have a lot in common, it’s so cool.

Didnt seem too bright Wolf getting all sentimental about wanting to store a weapon of mass destruction lol I could understand if he wanted to keep it around for a period of time in case there is a way figured out around the problem of it being a flesh dissolver.

Well the magic sure would help but...Mere cotton wont do anything if not actually feel hotter from extra fabric but if you have merino wool socks it will better wick moisture than cotton and actually keep you cooler counter to what you think wool would do. Skin on skin contact is where sweating happens more so five toes makes sense but tabi socks also may be a middle ground to consider. Probably also would reduce risk of blisters having each toe covered, maybe.

Dahlia and Wolfred may have a platonic friendship, but romance isn't off the table, it's just not their focal point for now.

Dahlia making a refrigerator, and Wolfred giving her wine glasses in exchange for helping her move the rather bulky item, their business is till mutual. Even meals are too handled the same way, though the latter's hatred for bell peppers to not grow taller, the former's kind reply forces him to do so, thinking of him as a child who's picky on his food.

For the main event, it's sword crafting, though as Dahlia tries her best, it's finicky to get the perfect weld for a balance between fine and devilish, despite its demon-looking appearance that's their first collaboration. Also, making socks and insoles is also something that Dahlia wants to dabble in, but that her father refused, and she now intends to sell them as such, taking into consideration of his feet and preventing foot fungus. This is proving to be a hit with the soldiers dealing with foot fungus so bad that they need one...

Welp, if it's the invention of socks that'll help the soldiers perform their mission better, why not?

I love it when the show focuses on the artificing bit the most.
I do wonder why the insoles and the socks don't conflict. Perhaps unlike a sword, the pieces don't need to be tight fit so a degree of air gap prevents it from going crazy. Maybe Dahlia will see that and get an idea. But Swords shouldn't rattle with loose fitting so might not work.

Also my feet is sweating a lot while watching the socks scene lol

I'm also sued to sword tangs where it's bent making it basically impossible to take apart. The pommel just screwed on to hide it. But I think there are also swords, especially eastern ones that use peg holes like the one shown in the anime.

Wolf: to get home faster!

"Home"?

To his wife?

Dahliya? lolololololol

Btw, the new product is a great invention, even IRL doesn't have those things... lols

Anyway, another lovely episode.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

I just don’t understand where this anime is going. It feels more like a slice of life rather than actually focusing on creating new magical tools. I thought the female main character (FMC) was building a romantic relationship with the male MC, but there’s no romance tag on this anime. That’s why I dropped it, because I don’t think the story is heading in the direction I expected.
