While gladly nothing of importance is cut, the pacing does start to feel packed. Part of the game is processing information and anticipating what others are going to do. They could have added pauses here and there to let the viewers think about the rules for a bit and push the Love fight to a dedicated episode, but I guess they really need to get to next arcs as fast as possible.

Ngl it’s so hard to really focus on what’s going on in the story with the horrible downgrade in art, direction, scene composition and much more. So many shots just look like they’re lackadaisically thrown together and the production overall feels like a rooster teeth show from back in the day. Shame cause this series is so popular and beloved

I did enjoy seeing Viole completely sidestep everyone in this episode though. Both physically and verbally. Yihwa really thought the edgy terrorist who’s obsessed with climbing the tower would be interested in her body, sis please get real 😭. Just completely stopped her little magic attack and the other dude who showed up at the door. The special test he’s taking with the proctor looks like it’ll be a challenge though.

Episode 1 was solid, but the last two kinda feel cheap if I’m honest..

@Deansdale seeing as you gave jushitsu midsen a 9/10 a series with a nonsensical story garbage characters and art complete rip off of bleach and hxh with none of the world building, which is sorely CARRIED by its animation.

id say your opinion is worth as a grain of salt, even if I admit this adaptation was dogshit.
@Neostorm_Y So you agree with me, you just had to look up my other opinions so you could diss me for... God knows what purpose.

Anyways, JJK S1 was pretty good, the characters were mostly interesting and the story moved forward at a reasonable pace. S2 went to shit as the flashback arc was meaningless and the shibuya arc was a total mess, even the animation was mostly shit in my opinion as I hate that particular style. The entire 2nd season moved the story forward about a day's worth, GTFO.

@TheColonel76 im guessing no one here has ever heard of non linear story telling...........

like did people forget about durarara? baccano? and plenty of series with multiple protagonists?

like i totally understand the critque of the people who hate the animation(its garbage)
but i found the story telling to be fine, its in the same style as kotaro isaka's rashomon style stories, where different characters each view each event in their own perspective, and all the events eventually lead them all into cross roads together.
@Neostorm_Y Durarara and Baccano are paced much, much better than this. Tower of god's ep condensing way too many interactions and fights to have those multiperspectives, and have loss of depth in all of them. The issue isnt the different characters having own perspectives to lead to a crossroads but how its being executed and sacrificing pacing for what is resulted here. The webtoon had no issues for me and I loved this arc, Durarara and Baccano did this well too. Just this anime ep messed up a lot of things and is far less competently directed too than Durarara and baccano. This coming from a big fan of the webtoon and even liking s1 a lot.

I like this season so far, the new characters are interesting and bam, now supposedly Viole, has taken on a different role, also a big power-up, which we will probably see his training arc through bits of flashbacks later on. In this episode Viole and Test administrator start fighting at the end, it's really fun to watch, can't wait to see more next week!

I'm a huge fan of the manhwa but this ep was absolute ass. Way too many closeups, stuff cut out from scenes that develop characters like akraptor there, too many things be going on and just shown and rushed like a checklist and the animation was dreadful too the entire episode. S1 gets a lot of crap for its animation but everything is drawn well and while some could be better, there was a lot more effort animation-wise with that season than this one, especially in this ep where raising standards for adpatation matters. Want to defend this since i love the franchise but cant do so this time. So awkwardly done.
@MangagnaM I am also a big fan of the manhwa, and I was very excited for S2, but when the studio was announced my expectation dropped rock bottom, this studio has not done any significant work previously apart from doing in between animation in some anime like Suzume,Your name etc. When I said this on tog Subreddit, they literally downvoted me to oblivion.

Now we can see how ass the animation is, Literally PowerPoint presentation, super closeup shots, bad story boarding nothing felt connected to each other,
What saddens me that most that generic story manhwa like SL getting this much high budget, animation and here TOG getting peanuts. F**k you Sola Entertainment and Bandai.

Did they make us watch some random eye shot for 20 minutes? Whose idea to put this much close up? It looks horrible. It's going downhill with every episode and now I'm truly concerned. I like to cope and believe they will fix it in blu ray but not a lot chance.

@GTRaijin I've been enjoying it so far. Sure the art style isn't as cool as the last season, but the first two episodes were good. This episode was a bit slower, but it was still enjoyable. I feel like next episode we will get more into the conflict with this game, and that will probably be hype. It's been a while since I've read the webtoon, so I kind of forgot the story details, and now its like I get to re-experience it.

The music always goes hard, and it's nice to pair it up with the story. But some of the animation this episode seemed a bit lackluster.

Everyone's complaining about the animation, but what's the deal with the test? We get two long winded explanations between the room game and the pitching game that both leave such massive holes in them they're almost meaningless. Which is then confirmed when the important going ons largely ignore them.

Viole really surprised Yihwa when he revealed his manly self towards her, though he's clearly not interested in her body. And Wangnan sure just keeps Miseng crying unwillingly, though they'd be a friendship group outside of the Tower for better. With that, the test is underway.

The first test: The Trustworthy Room to acquire 6 out of 7 rooms, though this is limiting the test takers when it comes to Viole in the same manner, he's given an extra difficulty, because he can just simply conquer the test by his own power. Meanwhile, Akraptor trying to make amends for Miseng because he saw an inkling of his own sister, who's just barely surviving in a life stakes test, he at least keeps her company alongside Goseng and Wangnan. As for test administrator Love, Viole going straight for him to get his connector, it's not just desperation from Love's side, but of Prince as well, gathering like-minded members to take out Viole.

Yup, I'm almost at the point of tapping out because of the rather horrible animation, but hoping that the story picks up from its erratic pacing.

@Bio Basically there is a bunch of rankers loyal to zahard and FUG is basically out to kill them so Love, being a loyalist, want to mess with Bam (Viole) and kill him but he can only do so legally hence the test. He even wrapped it up in the test they were already taking, the sneaky son of a gun. I do like Love as a character but man was that some shady BS. I really want to see how Bam became Viole soon, lot of backstory there.

To be honest, I barely understood how the test is supposed to go. The only thing that's clear to me is that the winner needs to get 7 allies and 6 rooms. I think the pacing in this episode was bad and a bit confusing. Regardless of how much Viole has strengthened, I still doubt he can beat a Ranker.

P.S. Screw you, Rachel.

@StateofOhayo Appreciate it, but I actually meant the mechanics of the challenges. Like what it means to take a room or whether a foul is an actual part of the catch game.

@Bio Oh sorry, I can't remember the details since it was explained like shit, but I think the whole thing was glossed over cuz Love wanted to trap viole into fighting him. As for that game I have no clue...like in baseball a foul is a hit outside the lines of the field but Bam didn't actually hit anything, to be honest I'd call that a ball off a wild pitch.

they have rather playful tests in this second season, the room game actually looked like fun, maybe you could play this during a class excursion.

No sexual tension between Nia a Wangnan detected, the scene with 2 bored youngsters in the room slightly indicated something for a second.

Why is everything a stupid game now??
Why are the characters so lame? Headon selected Regulars that were fighters or had some sort of skill, everyone had at least a chance.
Why do they have to pay to take the test?? if Headon selects you and you're broke that's it?? no chance of climbing the tower. Who do they pay?? what do they pay with?? what use does Jahad or the tower in general have for money? The money can't be for the administrators because these beings are godlike and im sure they don't give a shit about money, maybe there's a humanoid administrator that likes money but all of them?? so the money goes to directors? which are well below the administrator. also powerfull enough to not care about money? surely relics like the 13 swords are the stuff that they are actually trying to get.
Why are all the directors corrupt? the 2 directors that appeared until now have their own motives and objectives. they don't care about the tower. Why doesn't jahad/ the tower keep his subjects in line?
Why do they keep saying that reaching the top makes you godlike or gives you all the answers? we've seen plenty of rankers and none of them are either godlike or have acquired some sort of celestial wisdom. Quant is straight up an idiot.

Animation sucks ass anyway you can't even watch this for the eye candy. It's now super edgy too

That shounen manga style of 'forgiveness' is kinda...lame but necessary development. Wangnam is a scum like Rachel was; deceiving and playing the victim so people would help her with her quest of climbing the tower. Though Wangnam in contrast, he will deceive his way up the tower but he wants to bring others with him and change how the tower works.
Viole now is seeing another perspective to his quest of reuniting with Rachel, though I guess it's even more of dilemma now, with what exactly he will do when she sees her again.

But hurray for karaage with sauce!

@Deansdale no it wasn't i followed the manga since it was released before the anime existed, entirely carried by its animation, you guys are biased since you saw the anime first, ifyou read the manga first then you would realize its generic dogshit, even kagurabachi is unironicly more original than jushit midsen
the author can barely draw for shit, and the characters look like togashi's drawnings when he was bed ridden.
and the plot is so generic its laughable, also the pannel cutts were horrendous, the author should take notes from the witch hat author manga for the panneling, and the holyland/kengen ashiran author for the paneling transitions for fights.

this gege literally stole all the worst aspects of bleach, which was the blank background contrasts for lazy drawings to focus on the characters, which gege didn't even do

@MangagnaM because this animation studio sucks basically as was already explained, however i still don't think some of the critiques are on the correct path,
the transition animations and the fights are whats bad, not the dialogue or story telling

they literally just show single shot character mouth movements which is rather dumb and easily could be interpreted as budget cutts, for some reason the korean one piece gets some how a tiny tiny fraction of a budget, which is insane to me.

why is it that all the potentially decent shows get absolute shit studios and animation budgets, while absolute garbage like garbage slayer or jushitmidsen get 100$ million dollar budgets, which completely carry the show.

for fucks sake, i could close my eyes randomly pick an anime, literally any anime that isn't outright controversial (like pupa, or boku no pico) throw 100$ million dollars on it, then it would suddenly be considered by the anime only normies the god of all anime lmao.
