My man unleashed his inner Iron man to save them all only to be thanked by being taken into custody. The animation at the end was really good. Now that the secret is out, how is he going to convince them and turn his luck around?

Well, now that the cat's out of the bag with everybody knowing that Kafka is Kaiju No.8, he will be taken into custody for questioning. No doubt, they didn't kill after he saved everyone from the Kaiju nuke bomb. I'm sure the defense force won't treat Kafka as a threat once his friends vouch for him since he saved their lives.

Honestly, I thought the reveal at the end would be the season finale. Certainly would have made a big hook for season 2.

Taking him into custody is the only reasonable response for this. It doesn't mean anything in my opinion besides: "We REALLY don't want you to go anywhere before we get to the bottom of this."

Definitely the best episode so far, Soushirou and Mina were badass as usual, and then Kafka blowing his cover. Can't wait for the next episode.

I just can't understand why they always do the hero like this and arrest them.

Bro deserves a medal for saving everyone. I hope they don't all turn on him except Kikoru and Ichikawa and throw him into jail. That was his moment to be the hero and it was brilliant. Very good episode. If they pull a Naruto next week I'm gonna be pissed and sad.

Vice captain Hoshina is a badass through and through. But I genuinely feel bad for Kafka. He saved them all. But at the cost of his freedom, I suppose. Mina seemed sad, not disappointed. Makes sense.

That was great, getting better each episode. If it goes on like this its a 9/10 for me. So entertaining. But it hurts seeing his comrades being mad at him now but understandable I guess. Im excited to see how it all sorts out. At least Kafka sacrificed himself to save everyone, what a hero.

I was thinking Kafka’s secret wouldn’t be found out for at least another season’s worth of content, but it went and happened near the end of this season because this was a situation where he absolutely had to, I was thinking that Kafka hasn’t done much in this fight and then he goes and makes the ultimate decision to save everyone lol, very respectable. But, of course the reveal means he’s now in hot water with his own comrades, getting arrested on the spot, at least they didn’t gun him down immediately lol, but really if Kafka wanted he coulda escaped easily with everyone’s suits nearly overheated, but of course I get why he wouldn’t now, hopefully his heroism will get him lighter treatment somehow.

But besides the end of the episode, the Hoshina versus Kaiju No. 10 scenes were quite awesome, we got a bit of Hoshina backstory in there which really I think would have been better for another time, but it’s not a bad placement since it was right before Hoshina’s final efforts before Mina showed up, that man is a machine lol. And we actually got to see Mina do more than just shoot a gun finally, it wasn’t much but it’s gotta be tough to avoid being attacked while wielding such a massive weapon.

Kafka made the ultimate sacrifice to save his comrades. No other choice but to reveal himself so he could seen that bomb into the upper atmosphere. Crazy that he pushed it so high up yet the explosion still hit the ground. Absolutely the size of a nuclear bomb in that case, it would've leveled the city if Kafka didn't intervene. Hoshina did his absolute best to taken down Kaiju 10 by himself, going well beyond his suits limits. Always looked down upon for using blades instead of guns against kaiju but Hoshina still persevered to become Vice Captain. Mina believed in him and gave Hoshina the chance he needed to thrive. Hoshina came close to losing his life a few times lucky he survived until Mina arrived with her cannon. I've been waiting on her to show up and help, she's the Captain but probably saw the least amount of action out of the while squad during this raid. Her cannon was able to blow Kaiju 10 to smithereens finally. Naturally this arrogant kaiju wouldn't go down with leaving a present behind. Kafka really revealed himself to everyone. Things are going to change dramatically now.
@Dukino
Bull shit...

This had got to be one of the worse reveals...

There really was no need for him to transform in their presence...

Dude could have just gone to the side, transformed and do what needed to be done...

Haaa no no no I'm really disappointed....
Had to pause the show to come type this after seeing the reveal...

Now that the story is happening. There's a 50/50 of the daikaiju be weak to one of them, when one is away.

If the tiger is used to help reduce recoil, would be nice if they had a suit too.

Good thing that the bomb is fairly solid. Imagine Kafka putting so much force, that he goes just right through it.
@BlichoBoy Nah, it's just plot bulls&5t. It happens in pretty much every form of media with a super-strong character.

Unfortunately, when you apply super strength to reality, it doesn't really work. It doesn't matter if you're super strong if the stuff you're interacting with isn't made to withstand the forces you apply to them. Making a character with super strength but normal surface area/material pretty much makes them unable to apply that strength without just breaking everything.

Classic example 1: If you give a character a robot arm, that arm can now lift super heavy objects, right (multiple franchises)? Wrong, if you try that the arm will just rip right out of the socket. Or perhaps it can punch really hard, right? No again, because the force from the arm is also being applied to your body and the ground, so you'll be limited in the force you can apply AND probably still snap your spine.

Classic example 2: Hulk lifts a mountain or city (he's done both). Problem is that neither one has the tensile strength to support that weight on just the surface area of Hulk's hands and feet. Hulk would simply embed himself in either the thing he's trying to lift or the ground he's standing on, or both. Similar result any time a character tries to stop a falling building.

Classic example 3: Strong character picks up car by the front or rear and swings it like a weapon. This works because animated objects like cars are just treated like solid objects in media. Reality: the bumper/front body would just rip off.

In any event, best to just not think too hard about the physics. Any armor on the bomb which could withstand the force Kafka applied would also mean that the Kaijus should be effectively invulnerable. And let's not even get into the amount of force Kafka's rockets must be putting out to provide enough force to move the bomb. Sheer strength wouldn't actually do anything, because Kafka lacks enough mass. When a small object pushes a large object, it's the small object which moves, even if that small object is super strong (unless the small object is super massive or pushing off something super massive). That means the rockets, not his muscles, are doing ALL of the work, and really should be causing massive amounts of damage to the area on the ground behind him from the backblast. So...just pretend you didn't think about it.

Edit: Though it's also worth noting that having Kaiju sized creatures already requires magic physics so...whatever. Plus, up to now the Kaijus flew by regular mechanics (flapping wings) like anything else, but the bomb appears able to just float, which means that Kaijus can fly though some means which violates physics as well (antigravity, DBZ style Ki, whatever).

Well Kafka let himself get busted. The action scenes in this ep were a little bit disappointing compared to the manga. Ichikawa didn't arrive at the training zone and was talkin' to Kafka over microphone in the manga. They changed it I see. Kafka givin' up his security for his friends' lives definitely W

@GeoXsf9 I feel the same thing about the ending. It's better to end the season this way.

loved seeing the combat strategy in this episode:

the knifes dude couldn't cut deep enough into the mega kaiju, so his shallow cuts allowed for shinomiya to deal the damage.

ice dude helped shinomiya slow the target so she can deal her damage.

knife dude helped distract and weaken the mega kaiju with his knives so that Mina can blast it away.

Finally, Kafka had to reveal his identity to save his squad. a cliff hanger, but can't wait to see the next episode!

This episode serves as more proof that Mina is my least favorite character and such a two dimensionally written character; she is all exterior, no interior, Kafka is her childhood friend and yet she seems to not care about him or even speak to him. Yes that could be passed off as professionalism but she’s in a position of power and has enough political and social capital that she can afford unprofessional interactions with Kafka. Plus at the end of the episode, she should have been the last person to hold Kafka at gun point, not the first, further adding to my dislike of her as a character/person.

Also, I struggle to get into this show because it’s been so overly excessively promoted and plugged by Crunchyroll. If a show gets that excessively plugged, you kind of expect it to be this 10 star runaway masterpiece and anything less just ruins enjoyment of the show. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s good (7 stars out of 10) but Crunchyroll’s over excessive plugging has ruined my enjoyment of it… like it did with Chainsaw Man and is starting to with Demon Slayer

next 2 episodes that are left he will get sliced and diced and everyone will live happily after :D

neh, I think he will just give them some ideas how to further weaponize themselves again Kaiju by improving their kaiju made suits.

Also, those that are shit talking Mina, if she didnt feel for him, she would have ordered him to be shot by everyone, instead of taking him into custody.

Incredible episode. Hoshina shone despite the enemy he faced surpassing him in every way. No matter how many times he was told to give up in his past, for being just a melee weapon specialist, he kept going.

Kafka saved everyone in a very epic way, but unfortunately, his secret was discovered. I see that several people are angry with the soldiers and with Mina specifically, but she has to follow protocol. Seeing that her childhood friend is a Kaiju must have hurt her, but as a soldier, it's what she has to do. Technically, they should kill Kafka, but she decided to place him in custody.

@d0main Even tired as Kafka was, it seems unlikely that they would have been able to defeat him with the three strongest members all unable to fight (Mina, Hoshina, and Shinomiya all overheated, thouogh Shinomiya likely wouldn't follow that order anyway). We can assume he will surrender because he doesn't want to fight them, but if they actually tried to kill him, Kafka would probably win or at least escape. Knowing how strong Kaiju 8 is (9.8 is the strongest they've ever detected), she'd have to be an idiot to order a bunch of tired junior officers to attack him, even wounded. That's not even counting that Reno, who I think at this point is the strongest remaining officer, would likely side with Kafka, though she might not know that.

Anyways, not saying that was her reasoning, just saying that there are other explanations for her not ordering an attack besides feelings.

I mean I guess its protocol to arrest Kafka after he let the cat out of the bag with his reveal but Mina "correcting" herself by saying Kaiju No. 8 rather than his name was also messed up. However, with Kaiju No. 9 and other future strong baddies out there I'm sure they will need his help so I think they will come around with his condition plus his friends should vouch for him.

I was braced for the impact of revealing the secret yet it still blown me away.

What a top tier animation and episode. what will be fate of Kafka, so excited for it. Hoshina and other was doing some great team coordination and support yet the Red kaiju still need mina to finish him off. this just confirmed my doubt Kafka is one punch man in kaiju universe. So glad it didn't turn out to be like other anime where they keep teasing the secret reveal but it never happened until season 9.
