It's kinda sad to know events going behind the scenes.

The deeper lore of this show explores more sadness and tragedy. I guess Hibari also accepts their responsibility in this show and it's not hard to believe. Feels like Touko and Koushi were destined to be where they are this episode.

Poor Koushi.

Koushi, shaken by the illusion revealed by Hibari, learned that Takimi had manipulated Hinako's body while concealing the identity of being a member of the Water Clan. In the midst of his anger, Hibari disclosed to him that she had been chosen as the vessel for Yururuho, a vessel that wavers like a delicate flame. Koushi, unaware of the terrifying plan unfolding beneath the surface, and realizing he had taken many lives with the lightning bottles he had developed, fell into despair.

Meanwhile, using the underground passages, Touko follows Akira, and once again encounters Yururuho, touching upon her sorrow.

I think all the trippy movements and perspectives in the beginning are to make it look like space is warping and "does not feel real" in that dimension or something.
What exactly are these "gods" if they can be killed with physical weapons? I guess I forgot.
Oh, this was interesting. Flickering Flame could be an AI or something like that that was made before people started igniting from touching fire.

Koushi having an Oppenheimer meme moment.

The gods dying after throwing blood at them. "Ew! Peasant blood.". That's kinda funny.

Touko may have barely an idea of whats happening, but I like how she is great relaying all the info people throw at her.

The Flickering Flame talking to Touko (like an afternoon tea.) vs Koushi ( makes that her can barely move.)

Koushi blames himself for the destruction of the capital, but we now know that all of this is the work of divine clans.

Now, my question is whether the flickering flame is a goddess or a mechanical object.

However, I'm relieved that Touko found Koushi. Despite being in a terrible situation, she accepts the course her life has taken and the people she has met with good grace.

The illustrations started to look like AI could make good stuff, to me.

The episode sure was full of information, it was the closest to season 1 thus far.

Also, OppenHoushi.

My understanding, based on previous episodes, is that the flickering flame is a satellite in an orbit that is destined to come back down to earth but I don't quite get how that ties in with Kira being the vessel so maybe it isn't just a satellite since there's also a goddess called the flickering flame.

There was a bunch more lore being dumped, and towards the end Touko, Koushi, and Kun got saved by Hibari. It seems that that these clans don't like each other and are using humans for their own benefit.

Koushi's vision, obstructed by Hibari to get answers while the Water Clan confronts both her and the Flickering Flame whom she replaces with Hinako to become the next Lady Goddess, it feels as if that this is an ongoing fight as secrets within the Okibi household emerge. As much as Touko and Kanata are fine, his intention to release the lightning skyfire to save people by killing the spiders, may have caused the destruction of the people instead. That, which Yuoushichi and his butler showed up and remained in their charred state, as impure as the Gods see them, they're just not fit for the job.

Be it Goddesses, the treefolk or whoever, all Koushi knows is that the Gods don't treat humans equally, as they fight to survive within the confines of the gods playing with their lives. With Temari separate from Akira, everyone should stay together. But as coincidence would have it, Touko being able to hear the Millennial Comet (which is another name the Flickering Flame goes by) for cries to save Earth by "overwriting her directive", she could not do so. And the Spies amongst the water, Hibari has to save them from the Water Clan's spiders.

Still though, the choice of the Flickering Flame rests upon the world, for her decision will make or break the foundation.

The only reason I am still sitting through this show is I want to know how this story ends. But honestly I am seriously considering dropping it. Incoherent animation, composition and editing, lazy still frame ruined the last bit of goodwill from the showrunners for me. The over-convoluted lore is getting messier every minute, and I can care very little about it.

Okay, I have no idea how all of you got the things you write in here. Oppenheimer? Satellite? wat

Also, this is the episode where the budget for this anime went to die, lol. AI art and terrible animation in general. Producer must have lost a lot of money playing mahjong.
If you haven't watched "Fantastic Children", don't talk about "best anime". Thank you.

The water drinking part is oddly satisfying to watch. Oh and we have Miyazawa back but at what cost.

So much death, so much selfishness, these gods are disgusting, they are devils not gods.
