Now that I think about it, this show/episode has an interesting stance on character's body movements.
We still got the usual gameplay and character chemistry though. It's getting slightly dull with the game loop. Episode also did make me a little hungry with that food they were cooking up. They feel like a small family together this episode imo.
An episode about cooking this time and viewing what they actually have around the place.
It was fun to watch so it was nice.
The bird eating sashimi was a bit strange tho but the bird is strange in general.
Winter 2024, we have two meat-eating-birds.... But please be reminded tho, do not feed meat to birds unless they are Pii-chan, a kenja (sage), or Chombo, a seirei (spirit). wwwwwww
Pai is making fun of the OP, calling riichi twice and still losing: "Nani mo nai yo, yaku ga nai yo. Sore de ii yo riichi! Riichi!".
The illustration after the credit and preview this EP is rather.... dubious. Search for the term "prolapse" if you're curious (Not recommending it. Do it at your own risk). Or maybe, it's just simply that I have read too much doujins recently? wwwww
Python is the best programming language ever. FIGHT ME!
Not much mahjong in this one besides some references here and there and that one stacking trick which is basically cheating, but that’s fine honestly because it allowed me to enjoy the episode more as I have still not done research on the game’s rules, I’ll get on it one day maybe lol. It was a lot of fun seeing the girls do all the prep for cooking as well as the cooking itself, it really makes me wish I had my own little hangout spot to retreat to and make a grand feast lol. The plan was to have curry but Nashiko was determined to have that sashimi and thanks to Izumi’s mom she ended up getting it.
And although I’m not a big fan of curry that did look pretty scrumptious, I can see why they all wanted to keep a photo to make it last longer lol. And I’m ngl, I’m kinda with Nashiko on having a coke with the food, I can enjoy any kind of soda with just about anything lol. And there was that bit at the end where they debated the name of those frozen treats, and although the subs didn’t make it explicitly clear what the joke was I did catch it thanks to what was actually being said if my memory serves me correctly on what those words sounded like as Izumi broke the treat in half lol. And wow that after credits art was nightmare fuel, I wonder what that’s a reference to, I do think it looks cool despite the horror lol.

@uncleqrow The prolapse is a medical condition not lethal but discomfortable and painful. I know the prolapse is not the rarest fetish in Hentai doujinshis but I refuse myself to understand how people get horny about it.
Ah cooking episode is always welcome and I don't mind if they do this more often, always comfy and chill to watch. And of course Riche is that rich foreign lady, seeing her hesitate to eat that sashimi and then being fed by Nashiko was cute.
Also, the fifth girl will finally make in appearance based on the preview. Quite like her design.
I was kinda expecting it but I guess this is like the sleeper anime of the season.
oh whats this? now it's pai's turn? is every ep going to start with this joke now?
hmm
actually i'll be honest. its been a long time but, i dunno about other people, but i think when i used to play mahjong a lot i had mahjong dreams too. thats how you know you've played too much/a lot of mahjong
still waiting for the 5th girl to show up
also i only just realized. the episode title is called ton (1/2/3), then i assume its kyoku (east 1/2/3 round)
curious
well there might be more mahjong than i thought, maybe around 50 ish, half mahjong and half doing whatever they are doing for the day
this time is cooking
nashiko is still
wait if riche is only here on the weekends. i suppose there's two weekends every week, so is it?
towels. mahjong towels. that sounds really vaguely familiar for some reason. i suppose its a do or do not
i mean im no expert but it looks less like a parlor and more like a really big apartment. and even then, its not even that big
mahjong is kinda weird because it requires 4 people. i suppose if you have more people (cough( then you just need 4 out of the group
and well, here its less about the mahjong, and more about the girls. mahjong is just one thing the girls can do together.
though i do wonder. in the op we see some shots of them going outside, but ep 2 and even ep 1 was basically spent entirely in the parlor, though i guess thats the whole point. i do hope we'll see some eps of the girls going out too
cooking. and well groceries. no i dea though
owo whats this? must be funny randomly running into your family while out shopping. i mean, its not nearly as unlikely if you think about it
heh. though i do wonder do they have part time jobs? maybe not
im surprised it took awhile but at least they have a tabletop to use now. not sure i've ever seen one of those before, since well, i doubt most competitions and clubs are actually going to eat on their mahjong table
its kind of funny, because with no mahjong, is everyone going to take turn mentioning some mahjong phrases
i cant hear very clearly but pai mentions both haitei and (furikonde)
not sure where the (twice) came from, double riichi is a thing but thats strange.
anyway haitei refers to winning on the last draw, but that requires a win on a draw, while furikonde refers to winning(or losing) on a discard
also im not sure if its just this ep or the previous eps, because there were A LOT of screen transitions this ep
anime fish cooking intensifies
mahjong manga. hmm. HMMM. that being said, how long ago was this parlor? shrug
ah yes just remove the bones. not that i know
mahjong phrases intensifies. i still dunno just how many they tried to cram into the op but it was quite a lot thats for sure
wait they said no cola, but uh
also i just realized izumi has two different hair pins
Anyway that was the ep. so yeah uh. mahjong was almost 0 this ep.
Instead we got a normal ep of cute girls cooking
Still no sign of the 5th girl, hopefully next ep? an entire ep with basically no mahjong is kinda weird, but otherwise
Like the ep was a bit plain but otherwise its sort of ok i guess? not every ep has to be like explosive or something
Maybe im just coping
Omg are you serious i just saw majsoul in the preview for the next ep
Kinda curious. we do see the 5th girl in the preview, so uhm....im assuming things will be happening next ep
I think yostar owns majsoul? and I did see them in the credits so its like a collab maybe. Though not sure when it started but riichi city is a thing too.
@AkeZZZ Oh, that is nice! I hadn't realized that the locations they were in could be real stores like in Non Non Biyori, K-On! or others. Now I wonder if the girls' place is a real location too🤔. If the anime becomes famous, these could become places of pilgrimage for fans too haha 😄

is anyone else watching with a faint feeling something super random is gonna just happen lol like i enjoy how chill and carefree the girls are but episode goes by and i'm like wait that's it?! okay well that was nice despite not much happening
the actual location of the shop is here.
While the building itself was probably modeled after this cafe.
@AkeZZZ Wow how cool! You really did some detective work in that neighborhood!🧐👏👏👏
The designers allowed themselves some "poetic license" to modify some things, but the most striking details of the building are there. Even the illuminated sign that Nashiko moved is there too, I liked! 🏠
I would love to be there to see the owner of the café all confused and unable to understand why his costumers suddenly increased and several people started arriving to take photos. He better get ready haha!😅
another fun episode
- another dreaming related to mahjong starting tiles lmao
- more clean up, i wonder if they will actually decorate the place at all
- food time, i usually want to watch food anime while eating but they caught me offguard this time lmao
- mahojong soul game in the preview lol i tried it for a couple hours but thought mahjong was way to ocomplicated :D
favorite "new girls" from fall 2024 <3 (yeah i didn't watch much in 2025...) ... click sig for older seasons
From a session of mahjong to pure cooking, the girls are pumped up to find even more items, but first, they need to do an overhaul of the game parlor and gather materials for food, like curry. Coincidentally, meeting Izumi's mother earns them a grouper, and more ingredients that could help make good curry, plus some bottled soft drinks.
eanwhile, Riche teaching Pai about Genroku stacking to get a good draw, it's literally cheating, but then you'll need to have good hand skills on that. But clearly, Nashiko's overwhelming bills are indicative of her spendthrify behaviour, though Riche offers to fit the bill, but they stop her into going for Nashiko's bidding, thankfully. Everyone takes different sides, thoguh the gag of Chonbo being fodder never gets old. Pai cutting rabbit-like carrots while Nashiko works on the sashimi...yeah that doesn't sound like it inspires confidence, but at least they made it work. The end result: curry roux with sashimi and coke, it's a weird combination, but nothing out of place. Also, it's Riche's first time having sashimi, though eating it out of Nashiko's chopsticks...yeah. The freeze pops...or ice pole as Izumi calls it, whatever it is, it's a snack.
It's a good rest, and the last of the girls is going to show up, so nice.
Chill episode but I wanted some more Mahjong but it seems that next episode, we'll get a lot.
The group tidies up the place and look for things that they could potentially use. They find a towel warmer, a display cooler, and then they decide to grab some groceries. Nashiko and Izumi grab them, and later meets with Izumi's mom in which she gives them a fish. Pai and Riche mess around at the Mahjong table until Nashiko and Izumi came back. They make curry with sashimi on the side and that's it.
Next week might also introduce the black haired character and I'm excited for that.
Nashiko sure likes her sashimi, Riche being an ojou sama was funny. Izumi saying ice pole kinda was a bit...erotic? Idk if that's the right word for it.
This made me want to have 4 wives if possible, if they all got along like dat would be the dream, admitting to malnurishing chonbo is crimes in the eyes of the lord.
Behold of my awesomeness~
controversial and/or sensitive topics likely devolve into the same repetitive, derogatory, abusive, and harassing comments can no longer be posted.
But my feels.
I'm really impressed with this episode. The amount of detail put into each step of cooking is above and beyond what anyone was expecting.
I mean, that shot of Pai cutting the carrot says it all, but on top of it there's also the animation of Nashiko cutting the fish, the food stains while the fish is being boiled, the HECKING COLA BUBBLES - oh my god I gasped out loud seeing those bubbles, this anime is tickling my little detail oriented brain senses.
Even more little details include the full-fledged menu with actual items (and not just scribbles and gibberish), the flames on the gas stove being reduced when Pai is almost done cooking the vegetables, Riche grabbing that bottom tile with her pinky and ring finger when pulling off the cheating trick, Nashiko slipping her phone in her pants pocket, and probably more I'll notice during a rewatch.
The staff working on this definitely knew what they were doing, hats off to them.
+ that perfect comedic timing with Nashiko saying she'll cook Chonbo after a long pause and contemplation, and later the 3 girls looking dumbfounded at Izumi before looking up "chuchubonbon" online got me screaming and it's hard to get me to laugh out
