I think it’s good personally, the animation is there and the characters are all fun and have a vibe about them.

It’s an interesting anime, well put together. Despite I personally not a huge fan of these Chinese lore or particularly this part of the Chinese culture. That being said as long it isn’t boring it is going to be recognised as an enjoyable series. My personal score is 6/10.

I really really like this anime, probably in Top 10 for me. But it would be a stretch to say that it is top 5 , considering it is only 10 episodes in and the plot development is good but it's taking its own time.
Also, there's a fair share of top tier anime this season - let alone this year. JJK S2, Frieren & Vinland S2 would probably make my top 3.

AOT is probably my favorite anime of all time - but the Finale gives me mixed feelings. It's a little lacking (in the wrap up) versus all the previous season - probably a victim of its own greatness.

Exactly. Threads like these more often than not just attract blind haters and quibblers. The latest 2 series from Studio OLM both seemed flawless in their own right to me (the first being Summertime Rendering, and the second being The Apothecary diaries which is currently airing). The animation is downright gorgeous, every scene of it. People who are more invested in anime centred on action/mystery/suspense might find this a little timid if they aren't acquainted with shows like these which focus on one particular aspect of a certain age, and then everything around it either springs from it, or somehow gets related to it. The Apothecary diaries aims to portray the life of a lower class girl during the reign of the imperial dynasties in China, and I think that it achieves perfectly, while incorporating some elements for the sake of entertainment, which can be seen as not exactly 100% historically accurate (nitpickers will complain about this). But the creative liberty of the author must also be respected imo.

I am reading the Manga and the LN as well, it is a very unique story about a very unique girl, which is what makes this Anime/Manga very interesting. But, if you haven't read the Manga/LN, spoilers ahead: I have read 6 Volumes of the LN, and if you are hoping for romance of the female lead with a certain someone, then I wouldn't hold my breath. We are still learning about her 6 Novels in, and still haven't uncovered most of her past life. Nevertheless, it is very funny and detective conan like story: The Apothecary Detective, I would say.

I liked it early on when it still had mainly episodic plots, especially loving the main character, but ever since recent episodes with more slow, over-arching plots involved, it's 100% hooked me now. It is unironically one of the best series this season, which is insane to say when stuff like Frieren or JJK is airing, but it just is.

I love how it pulls no punches when it tackles issues of the past era that would evoke controversy in our time. It also somehow delivers compelling mysteries that are much better written than the mysteries that a certain seasonal detective show has to offer, no offense.

Great show, solid 8/10 on its way to a 9/10 for me if it delivers on its over-arching themes and plot development.

Fuck Jinshi though, dickless perv, especially in the recent ep trying to stuff his honey covered fingers in Maomao's mouth.

Spoiler ahead, I think: She is creeped out by him, true, but she does say that he is handsome all the time, and she wouldn't say that if she didn't feel that way hahah... and then there was that one time where she was scared he might hear her heartbeat, so I don't think that all hope is lost ;-) The male protagonist is coming onto her quiet strong hahah, so it's like peeling a poisonous onion haha

This is the best show for me after Frieren this season. And I think it deserves all the attention and praise it's getting now and but deserves more. This show is definitely a change of pace for me.

This show has everything that people would like. Great animation, great characters, great and pretty unique plot, great sound, etc. It just really is a pretty fun show imo.

Everyone deserves to have an opinion on something, whether that be negative or positive, and not one single person deserves to not be allowed to voice it, unless it breaks the ToS of the site they are using. "Haters" can be applied to anyone who has a small complaint about anything ever, and not everything needs to have endless praise. I love NGE, but I still have some gripes about it and I completely understand when other people do not like it.

Honestly, if you dislike "negativity" then simply do not read it.

Only based on what the manga is like, since I'm not caught up on the LN, it's more of the same.

It's not particularly fast paced, but I don't think there's any point where it really drags.
It's majority slice of life, until it reaches the end of an arc and most of the side stories come together.
A lot of it is pretty cliche, but it's pretty well written because it's really too the point. None of it ends up feeling like filler. There aren't really any unnecessary scenes.
Mao is pretty willfully ignorant, so she plays dumb about a lot of stuff until she has to eventually piece everything together herself.

If you like what they've done so far, you'll like the rest of it. A pretty good 8 out of 10 if you're into it.
It's nothing mind-blowing, pretty by-the-books, but entertaining enough.
