Hey sorry if this topic gets posted a lot haha. I'm looking for stuff like Mother's Basement and Gigguk that do narrative analysis and stuff like that. Does anyone know any Youtube channels like that? I want to watch! Big or small channel doesn't matter.

I'm pretty dubious about Mother's Basement, but if you're looking for YouTubers like Gigguk, check out his podcast partners on Trash Taste.

In english, I used to watch trashtaste and the anime man. I don't watch that often nowadays, but I'd like to know any names that fit your description.

And btw which anime is your pfp from?

Oh you must watch Douchebagchocolat also known as DemolitionD+ or just Demo. He hasn't uploaded in ages, but his stuff is still worth the watch.
Also for hentai Hart Vigen he is the best as he took inspiration from Demo.

Beside Gigguk you mention, there's The Anime Man, CdawgVA, Glass Reflection and Akidearest. Some may not be 100% about anime, but are somewhat related to it.

I mainly just watch reactors now. Uzumaki Khan (though he’s more of a Patreon person), King of Lightning, and SuperMechaFrieza (JamiUwU) are the main 3 I keep up with. I’ve been watching them long enough to know what they like or don’t like, which makes watching the videos a better experience.

Though I do also watch CJ Dachamp and Codenamesuper, their commentary on shonen fights is really funny.

Only anituber I watch anymore is 'Pause and Select', all the ones I used to watch drifted away from the content I enjoyed, or they just became annoying and repetitive.

Gotta agree with Jonas here, I’m getting into Saint Seiya which is a pretty long series and the last thing I need is more distractions from the main thing about anime that I care about: watching it.

Better use that time actually watching anime.
Looked into youtubers like Mother's Basement and that guy is watching a dozen of anime in a season that he doesn't like, to invest time making and editing a video (which is really time-consuming itself btw) and then people are gonna watch 20+-minute videos about anime they probably won't like either.
Except for the fact that of course he's earning money with videos like that, that doesn't seem like the best way to spend your lifetime.

We Heart Giant Robots

Two hosts (have other full-time jobs and from what I can tell are old college friends, one with a family and the other an antigovernment weirdo), great banter, phenomenal editing, and interesting picks on what they review.

Criminally underrated. They have 5K subs and should have over a million considering how great their content is.

Only downside is they only upload about every 4-6 months.

@RobertBobert definitely not Connor tho, he's not a wholly anime based channel and Joey on the other hand has almost stopped producing anime content. However, OP can watch Joey's old stuff, they're great. I think OP is looking for channels that focus solely on anime with a style similar to Mother Basement and Gigguk.

DygoKnight makes Naruto videos (and Boruto hate videos). As for a more general anime channel there is Cultured Crusader, he also makes videos on older anime which is cool to see.
Go read Berserk and One Piece they're the best thing ever

@nyugvo6

Because sometimes it's nice to hear other people discuss aspects of a show that you hadn't thought of or considered when you watched it and formed your personal take.

I get that we've all read our fair share of garbage media critics but a good critic helps you see new perspectives and appreciate different angles, even if you ultimately disagree with their final opinion.

Super Eyepatch Wolf is good he is not exclusively anime though. If you don't care if they currently upload, Misty Chronexia was pretty good too, disclaimer he doesn't post anymore. But I love watching Trash Taste and their affiliated channels with GeeXPlus. Gigguk, CdawgVA, TheAnimeMan, (Abroad in Japan), Sydsnap, Emirichu etc... I personally find myself no longer looking for specifically anitubers rather japan content as a whole.

- On a side not, Joey sometimes posts some anime content on his second channel-
"Bro, if you set your mind to it. You can jack off to anything."

Gigguk is my favourite, and i like (most) mothers basement videos.

As far as popular "anime" youtubers go, those 2 are probably the biggest ones. but here are some others that i also really like:

OtakuVS,

Professor viral (more philosohpical stuff)

supereyepatch wolf and uniquenamesaurus are not exactly anime youtubers. but they have a lot of great anime videos.

I love replay value, but i am somewhat biased since his taste is fairly similar to mine

and finally, this super underrated guy named "APolygons2" who is definitely not me.

brandontalks and redbard are good for analytical essays of anime. they give a indepth explanation of happenings of the anime and the reason behind them. i've found their videos to be really insightful. these two are serious ones and for fun i watch gigguk too. i used to listen to trashtaste as well, it is an entertaining podcast, never gets boring plus it is not audio-only so it can be fun to see them sometimes. i stopped watching it like 8 months back but i'm sure it is still fun, i watched their podcast 1 to 15 or something and enjoyed them.

check out gigguk's other channel-garnt too, he uploads some fun clips from his streams there also you can check out his wife's channel- its content leans more towards degenerate side but it could be fun idk i've never watched her videos.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.

From my perspective the closest guy to Mother's Basement is Glass Reflection.

Gigguk does more clowning than actual reviewing and when he is not, he brings some soap operatic stuff (I guess his thai roots showing). They occasionally talk about anime on Trash Taste, but it's kind of a random chat, not deep analysis or anything. Also they are very superficial in their picks, wouldn't bring interesting weird stuff like Undead Girl Murder Farce or Under Ninja.

I will mention Bonsai Pop since nobody else did.

@RobertBobert Only Garnt do anime content now. Joey still does some in his sec channel not that much tbh. He doesn't even watch anime anymore. Pretty sure that Connor only made anime related content not analysis or review like Garnt or Joey.

I watch the guy Tristan (Glass Reflection) regularly, and he doesn't upload constantly so his videos are longer but more in depth. MB is cringe and I found Gigguk annoying AF.. but just personal taste I guess. Even though GR doesn't reflect my personal tastes (last season he said his AOTS was Farming Life in Another World and that made me wanna hurl) but he is professional, doesn't interject politics or act dumb and annoying. And I kind of like his "Keep/Hold/Pass" rating system on seasonal anime, which he came about through trial and error.

the latest interesting channel i've seen translates clips from Toshio Okada. i found it while i was watching Future Boy Conan and there was some interesting tidbits about the production

Check out all of them and man these suggestions are so fucking bland, most of them are just copy paste review of the year with boring tone, preview of new series like watchmojo and well just bland and boring over all.
So still the ones that actually put character and try to entertain you are.
Douchebagchocolat (no longer uploads, because youtube sucks ass for innovative creators who don't bend the knew for the corporations, so enjoy his older stuff)
https://www.youtube.com/@DouchebagChocolat/videos
and
Hartvigen (he still uploads and does hentai reviews, but actually entertains you rather than tells you blandly and in boring tone)

I mainly use Mothers Basement and Glass Reflection as promo channels for seasonal anime, giving me more descriptions of whats usually is just few sentences on MAL. Do thing GR is the better of the two, seems more professional.

Retcon_404 for the mecha history series. Super Eyepatch Wolf for the analysis, presentation, and overall production value of the videos. STEVEM for the rare artsy approach. AnimeEveryday for some of the history retrospectives. Totally Not Mark for the large Shonen reviews.

Trash-Tier Waifu and The Chattering Magpie solely for Ascendance of a Bookworm content.

I may occasionally go and look at Gigguks videos, but not subscribed, despite being the only one that cares even a bit about anime from the three mainstayers in the Trash Taste podcast. Their podcast really fell down for me at the end of the pandemic. Joey I cant stand anymore, and Connor is just okey but I dont care about his content anymore.

Bennet The Sage use to upload stuff Anime Abandoned series and it was entertaining enough, gotta find more anituber channels that talk about old anime as a recommendation source.
