@Jasev The author never mentioned what inspired him for Frieren. But by the settings, you can see a lot of aspects of LOTR and D&D in it, not really BOTW.

You don’t think there’s a chance that they were inspired by BOTW?

This anime is such a god damn vibe it's insane. It's giving me major D&D and LOTR vibes but in a very, very good way. Like the last, this was such a peaceful and sentimental yet melancholic episode. It was just about honoring two old comrades and their legacy with mage training and finding flowers but it's so beautiful. Wow.
I never knew that I wanted an anime based upon the lifespan of an elf but here we are.

Two episodes in and the art, music, and characters make this show so calming and emotional at the same time. It really carries this sentiment of valuing life and delivers it effectively but showing not saying.

@Jasev Maybe the anime director, background artist, etc. Not the author, since all of those scenes are redrawn in the anime. And most of those scenes in BOTW were likely to be inspired by the LOTR trilogy themselves.

Compared to the previous one, in this chapter we can see how Frieren sees the true passion that Fern feels for magic and the feeling of duty she feels towards Heiter for having picked her up when she was going to jump, and although it is not what she expected in a At first, he ends up giving in and agrees to have her as his disciple after a little white lie, even though he knows the risks that this entails and that sooner or later he will have a bad time. After Heiter's death, the two of them embark on their journey and we can understand a little more what is going on in Frieren's head and measure the affection she felt for her group, although she does not express it so explicitly.
PS: Only now I realize that Fern has an accent, and they use Chilean idioms or slang.

Another episode accompanied by another sad farewell, it was really sad to discover that the book that Frieren was deciphering could not give his friend more time. Along with the outcome of another part of the story, it was possible to observe the emotional development of the new character presented, which is very interesting (given her age and her story, which was not as in-depth). This episode also presents more content about Frieren's former companions, allowing us to create a stronger bond with them and at the same time when we travel through Frierem's memories we can get to know her more and more, and in fact, until now, she is a wonderful character.

This literally ruined my week, I cried way to much for an anime I just started. This episode did everything perfectly, my heart is still recovering after this episode. I can't state how beautiful this anime is from the shot composition to the sound design. Frieren is so raw and genuine it is simply a masterpiece

It's difficult for me to make my feeling into words of this anime. As same as manga of this work, a lot of emotion capture me. "Ma" means space of time in Japanese and in conversation and in performance direction. it makes people thinking something. Kei-ichi-ro Saito reproduce and enhance it. Evan call as music composer and Atsumi Tanezaki as voice actress are also perfect. I love Kana Ichi-no-se since she performed Maki from anime Kaguya-sama. Her Fern and tone makes me watch this anime repeatedly.

Man, this show just keeps hitting me in the feels. Like, they just don't miss.

I'm really loving the small comedic scenes in this show. They're shown at just the right times where you're able to find it funny yet not have it break the tension that the previous scene has been building up.

I also love Frieren. Two episodes in and she's already such a well written character.

Another beautiful episode, Madhouse is going fully wholesome with this one.

This anime is extremely clever in depicting an elf's long life and how the elf feels to live longer than all her friends and loved ones. It shows how insignificant decades are to an elf, the anime manages to maintain a wholesome and slice-of-life-esque vibe while it shows the struggles of a long life.

R.I.P. Heiter. He left the world with good intentions. Frieren and Fern will miss him dearly.

Fern has come a long way, and her journey with Frieren will be a long one. This show only continues to amaze me.

Seeing the growth of Fern during this time period as Frieren is deciphering was a nice way of introducing her character.
I was expecting to see a little more as they say their goodbyes after the passing of Heiter, but with the time spent in that village and the look at Frieren as she cleans off the statue of Himmel, I think we got to see a lot more of her current feelings surrounding the events.

Everything about this show so far has been classic iyashikei that I've been missing for years in newer anime, except for that cringy vocaloid j-pop bullshit song that plays during the opening that ruins the entire mood of the show, especially when binge watching. I hope they put something better and appropriate in the opening during the second half.

I love how this anime is just a calm peaceful slice of life high fantasy of a "supporting" character who once upon a time accompanied the "simple minded idiot shounen protagonist" in his epic legendary adventures and tall tales people throughout time speak of and is forever found of the memories they created together. It's SO fresh, WHERE WAS IT HIDING...

I guess she doesn't age or age extremely slowly because she's an Elf but because she's a mage seeing how Fern (presumably a human) didn't or barely aged either ever since she became a mage.
EDIT: Never mind, I mistook 26 years after Himmel death for 26 years after Heiter death, I feel stupid. She doesn't age or barely ages cause she's an Elf after all.

Although this is a TV show it feels more like a cinematic epic movie tbh.

The soundtrack is just beautiful. Sometimes it gives me Violet Evergarden vibes, as expected of Evan Call's masterful composition.

Another enjoyable episode. This series has a relaxing, melancholic, somewhat sad tone to it that I just absolutely love.

This series really makes you think about the passage of time and that we'll eventually all grow old and die. This series doesnt make it depressing though which is nice. Honouring the memory of Himmel. I doubt we'll see the dwarf pass away as they tend to live longer lives.
